Browns have the cap space and a extra 1st rd pick , Dallas is tight on the cap.

Right. Dallas would have to cut some salaries to add Adriane Peterson, and they are taking a beating (no pun intended) for signing Greg Hardy. Peterson is a douche...if he wants out so bad (for a situation that he created), they should ship him to Jacksonville.

Not pretend to stand by him then bail in 12 hours?

They gave him the benefit of the doubt initially, letting him play after he was charged. Then they realized that was a mistake and exempted him. What's wrong with that? What should he reasonably expect?

It wouldn't have mattered if they "stood by him" or not...Goodall was going to suspend him regardless.

The team essentially suspended him.

So what? The Vikings organization made a big show of supporting him, then bailed on him. Remember the "he's suspended from practice, he's practicing, he's suspended again," week? His organization acted like clowns.

Incorrect. They suspended/inactivated him, then let him play, then suspended him again. All while making a big show of their support.

He should reasonably expect that the organization either stick to their guns after making public comments, or not make those comments. They acted like morons.

Im with you FireC, it didnt seem right.

I think they were trying to play the "good guy" role, because the season was done.

It season is on the line.... I see a different story.

Yep. They threw AP on the sword to try to maintain their image. Which I get from a business perspective, but not after you've said you're "backing" AP as he handles this. Not only did they go back on their statements, they made the media exposure ten times worse. Edited by FireChan

No team is going to "stick to their guns" supporting a guy with that charge as sponsors and the governor are calling for his suspension.

Peterson has never really taken responsibility for beating his son, blaming his upbringing or some such nonsense--all he had time for was fighting with the NFL to get back on the field. Now he wants to bust balls with the Vikings over their uncertain and misguided initial support of their guy.

That's nuts.

Why is he a terrible father?

there's this, too...

Ask Ray McDonald if no team will stick to their guns. How many headlines did he grab?

The Vikings are a case study of how a business should NOT act in the event of a legal scandal. Period. AP might suck, but he's not wrong that the Vikings suck too.

The 49ers stood by McDonald after his first arrest--then they quickly dumped him after the sexual assualt investigation (no charge).

It's possible that AP has rendered his son not so...

The 49ers said, "we're waiting for due process, then we'll deal with it." And they dealt with it 6 or 9 months later. The Vikings grabbed as many headlines as they could in that same span with their actions. I know you know they screwed up.
