Disagree. Look no further than the Bills. You cannot win without a good QB.

I think we can all agree on that, but drafting a QB in the 1st round every year until you hit is not any kind of practical way to build a team.

Yet it wasn't enough to carry Cutler who's defenses and special teams were were ranked number 1 followed by years where they were top 4.

and yet, hes made it to a tightly contested NFC championship game... indications are hes "good enough to get there"

1-8 versus Packers. Thats all I have to say.

not saying hes great, was simply replying to someone that implied he wasnt good enough to get to the big game. with the right team, he obviously is - but that doesnt mean im wearing a cutler jersey around town.

Fair enough. At risk sounding like a broken record - a lot was invested for and around him on the O. Yet he has under-performed. 4th down with the game on the line, most would choose Rodgers over Cutler as their QB. And until he starts winning against a good division rival, he will be fighting for a Wild Card spot always instead of being in control of the division. Depending on how much they are paying him (possibly a front end loaded $17 MM per year), the Bears have locked their own fate for the forseeable future

Most would choose Rodgers over just about anyone. They are in a tough spot that many teams find themselves in: not having a qb that can carry a team 100% on his own, but having one that is good enough that it's hard to feel confident the next guy would be as good as him yet alone better.

I think they are both a little closer to the packers than the past record indicates, and it would be a bit harder to find a replacement... Otherwise were probably not terribly far off on our opinions.

I always thought the superbowl is the "big game".

Also keep in mind the Bears defense is regressing and Hester isn't getting any younger. If Cutler couldn't do it with the teams he has had so far, it ain't happening now.

clearly losing the nfc championship game by 7 after he was injured indicates it would be totally impossible for a cutler led team to get there.

How often are there two elite units on a team for more than a year? 2 years, 3 years, 4 years?

One NFC championship is a poor track record for those teams.

I guess you will want the Bills to sign Mark Sanchez when the Jets cut him this offseason?

so they are keeping a 30 year old corner on a horrible defense and a dime a dozen lineman on a brutal offensive line

You're a year behind on the O-line comment. They replaced most of their starters from 2012 and have a good and improving O-line. 2 rookies started this year and played well. Their offensive stats improved a lot this year. The O-line has to get some credit for that. Jennings is a very good corner. Bears had a lot of injuries on D this year.
