No he is not. He may not show a ton of emotion but he has had a lot of success as a coach. I think this would be the safest choice. He is a defensive coach and understands his players and the game.

you do remember dick jauron right? lol lovie smith is just a better version of jauron. cover 2, doesnt blitz much, conservative. he was successful because his defences always had a good front 4 and have 2 hall of famers in the linebacker core

(regarding Lovie Smith)

Screw the safest choice. We have been doing that for the last 13 years. Safest and cheapest.

Think about the choice that would give us the best chance to win the SuperBowl THIS year. Every team in the NFL thinks about this in the off-season. Except the Bills. All we want to do is improve, and have a chance, and "hey, you never know."

Screw that.

Lovie Smith would certainly not be the cheapest choice and maybe not the safest - he comes with an open question with regard to his choice of O coordinator. The safest choice would probably be Marty Schottenheimer - he has produced (and plateaued) everywhere he has gone.

I see Wade Phillips is on none of these lists... wonder why!

Great LAMP post but other than that useless. Must be a 3 yr amnesia virus going around since no one (admittedly didn't wade through all 6 pages) seems to remember that Gailey was somewhere around 4th or 5th choice, That worthless schottenheimer jr even refused an interview.

Change the poll to an ordered top 10 choices or to who you think will actually accept the job and it may be more than a dream list.

This !!!

Get younger in thinking. Fix the defense. Avoid re-treads.

Problem is, it "feels" like he is doing what others have done before. Leveraging his true desires by using the Bills, or letting the Bills negotiate the floor of his next contract with someone else.

Good part is, he can see we have some (woefully few) pieces in place on defense. And with the division ripe for the taking . . . .

Isn't Horton in his 50's? Hes not a whole heck of a lot younger than Chan.

Thanks for posting this data. At this point I am ONLY interested in a HC with a solid winning record in the NFL. Lovie and Reid look good. If we hire Whisenhut I will puke.

Get your barf bag ready.

I'm really curious what happened when gruden went 11-5 then 4-12. Was there a mass exodus from the team at that time (05-06)? That's when barber and sapp retired, maybe?, is all I can come up with.

Even still, that's a huge drop in production.

Call them retreads all you want but if you win in the NFL that speaks volumes. If you win in college, it's falls on deaf ears (ask harbaugh). Lovie and Reid look good to me based on history alone.

Rhonde Barber is still there!

Wow. I think I was thinking of Tiki. He's old.

Grudens Superbowl should be voided that was Tony Dungy's team he just tagged along after Dungy left and got that ring. Think about it what exactly did he do after that Super Bowl? Don't worry i'll wait...

I've said thAt before, you can say the same about Bilicks. Dungy built them and others won with them.

One appearance in SIX YEARS.

I dont care if he won 15 straight Super Bowls a decade ago.

That was then, this is now.

He was fired for his lack of production the last 6 seasons. They know what he did 7+ years ago. They dont care about 7+ years ago. And we shouldn't either.

How many pro games had "Chip" won? Lovie would be a huge upgrade for us and he got my vote.
