The new guard needs to get in there and get prep'ing for the draft. Don't let Buddy screw up another draft by forcing him to pick a QB: he can't. It's not that Whaley is prep'ing, it's that Nix and company won't be: Figure iut who's in charge of what, bring on some draft consultants, and get going. Why wait? What's the purpose of holding off? And he's got, after 3 complete off-seasons, major holes at LB and WR. And that's only if they re-sign Levitre and Byrd. If not, they're recycling pieces and that means finding guys in the later rounds, which Nix hasn't proven to do either. If I'm Doug Whaley and the old man won't get out of the way, it may be time to look for another gig. Being an understudy ad nauseam isn't what most front office guys sign up for. To Be Clear: Nothing at all, he doesn't. I am assuming Ralph won't hire an actual G.M., promote whoever from within, and go from there. I can't see Ralph doing anything of consequence re: a G.M.. Most every veteran free agent brought into this organization over the past 5-6 years is compliments of him. GM says go find me some boys and he dives right to the bottom of the dumpster. How's that been working out? The problem of the Bills promoting from within is that by the time one has several years in the Bills organization and then is promoted, they are so toxic from being contaminated by an organization that's motto is "Dare to be Adequate", that there is no way in hell they can, or will, make any significant contribution that will translate to wins. When he joined the Bills, it was widely assumed that it was an apprenticeship for eventually taking over the Bills GM position. when nix joined the bills, we were mocked for passing on whaley.... then he joined shortly after. that was an amusing one. im running out of things to enjoy, i guess ill settle for that. Nix has stated on numerous occasions he prefered to build the team up before drafting a young QB. He didn't want to bring a young QB with the roster he inherited.
