I was just pointing out the ridiculousness of someone mocking people for not believing in something because of something he doesn't believe in. And because believing in God is not logical to him, believing in gay marriage should be logical to everyone. I'm not particularly religious and I have no problem with gay marriage, but people who openly mock Christians in general are kinda douchebags to me. I'm not talking about extreme Christian nutjobs. I'm talking about my family, friends and neighbors who gather together in fellowship based on a belief and faith and desire to help others. You hit the nail on the head- for good people, religion is intrinsic and a reason to do good for others for no particular gain. They claim to fight for the weak and poor; they claim that the problems in this world all come down to the rich and uber-wealthy...the evil corporate pigs who sit on a stool, clicking their gold coins and laughing at the downtrodden; they insist that the ONLY way to equalize this is through the government, because we're all too stupid to take care of ourselves, and only the government can save Julia from a life of prostitution and gun-running. And when they are done telling us this wonderful word, they take a limo to their jet, fly to a private party at the palatial estate of yet another rich liberal before spending a few days at Martha's Vineyard on a friend's yacht before cutting their annual $20 check to some obscure charity. But hey...at least they're not those stupid people dedicating their time, money and energy to help others in need based on some stupid fairy tale, right? THAT really deserves to be mocked. It comes from both sides, so i wasn't intentionally saying that certain religions are the only ones casting stones. As for me, i was raised catholic. i still have faith, and still believe in God, yet i have stepped away from the "religion" aspect of everything largely in part for the reasons i mentioned above. I've seen too many supposed "religious" types act the opposite of what they supposedly stand for, including people very close to me. That doesn't mean all do.
