Scouting Cliches

Recommended Posts

Okay, as the draft approaches tomorrow, it's time to post scouting cliches. A few of my favorites:

Has all the physical tools (all-time favorite)

Can make all the throws

Plays with great leverage

What else you got?

Are the Cliches French Canadian? I'm sure they went to a small, under the radar kind of school not known for it's football program. But kudos to Buddy and the scouts for doing their homework on these guys. Ray Cliche may be the steal of the draft.

GO BILLS!!!

High motor - get excited about this guy but he's never going to actually be a great player

He's a bit of a tweener - guy was great in college but at the NFL there's absolutely no place for him - too small or too big to play where he did in college

Has a nasty streak - talks $*(&^ out on the field

Has great technique - looks pretty, but doesn't mean he's a good player

Has great quickness - had a bad 40 time but he really should be fast

the cliches are great. The decriptors from some of the scouts (plays like his hair is on fire, etc) are also entertaining. And don;t forget the concealed racism: High motor (=white guy). Athletic QB (=black guy)

You need to watch the League if you don't already

Plays well in a phone booth

A newer scouting cliche was recently revealed to us by Bills scouts:

"He's a good foot athlete."

Not new at all. That saying has been around as long as Rex Ryan has been in the league.

GO BILLS!!!
