I read that Osi thinks he might be traded. Two questions. If he is up on the block, do we want him?

and then, what should we offer? I have read some folks here had an interest in getting lineman from the Giants and saw this today on Pro football talk i think.

Picture yourself being the Giants. What would you want from the Bills?

  •
  • Marcel Dareus (Bills say no).
  • Kyle Williams (Bills say no, also, coming off injury).
  • Fred Jackson (not worth an all-pro DL, coming off injury).
  • McKelvin (seems crazy, not that good, possible only if Perry Fewell loves him).
  • Spiller (Bills say no).
  • rights to Steve Johnson (not worth enough to Giants, they'd still have little bargaining power).
  • Aaron Williams (Bills say no).
  • Donald Jones (so crazy, it just might work!)

So... there's that.

I'd love to bring him in but if he is asking for a new contract the Bills would have to work out an extension in advance. Hopefully he could be reasonable with the negotiations. I don't know how excited he would be about going from a SB champion to the Bills, but he could add a lot to this defense.

Or you could trade draft picks for Osi...

Depending on how dead set he is on a trade it'd likely be a second plus a big buck deal to get the job done. Obviously the deal would be part of the deal. Giants likely push for a mid 1 but would take a high 2

They are in Tight cap space and coming of a superbowl win, so no urgency . You give him a 2nd round pick he is yours. The question is at his age is he worth a 2nd pick . I say no. Tempting but can't do it

I would give up our 3rd and our 4th rounder we got for Evans for Osi. If they also want a player I wouldn't mind giving them Jones or McKelvin.

That would leave us with 7 draft picks and an addition of Osi.

Draft day.

1st pick - DE or LB

2nd pick - Whichever position of the choices from the first pick we didn't get.

3rd pick (4th round) - Tackle.

4th pick (5th round) - CB.

5th pick (5th round) - CB.

6th pick (6th round) - T/WR/LB/TE take your pick.

7th pick (7th round) - T/WR/LB/TE take your pick.

Free Agency.

Good thing free agency comes before the draft. We need to sign Stevie. If not then Buddy needs to pull the trigger on a #1 receiver and also get a mid tier WR to compliment being the #2.

Depending on how free agency plays out I definitely wouldn't mind Osi instead of the much more expensive Mario Williams.

If you want an elite pass rusher on the downward side of his career why not make a play for John Abraham?

He wont cost you any picks and you could probably sign him to a 2-3 year deal at a cheaper price then Osi.

Abraham is 34. But had same amount of sack last year as Osi at 9.5.

Atlanta has two many guys up for FA and looks like he will surely hit the market. He could step in immediatley and upgrade the pass rush. Bills could then go for rush end in rounds 2-3 and spend first pick on another area of need. LB, OL, or WR depending on which way they go w the rest of FA.

I see most of the Giants games here in NYC, Osi is a very disruptive force in the pass rush. It goes way beyond sacks. He is not on the downside of his career he has 5 years at an elite level left. The only thing you can knock him for is that he's a one way player....not good against the run. The team that trades for him has to sign him as he becomes a FA after next season. The team that gets him, I believe, needs to be close to a championship enough to 1) trade the picks and 2)pay the increas he's going to be looking for. He's not a respected leader either, something the bills could use from a 2x champ and top player. I just don't think he's a fit for the Bills...I would rather go all the way for Mario.

Dave Tollefson is the DE on the Giants that the Bills should be targeting for DE. No joke, the guy is solid, smart productive and would come cheap.

By downward side do you mean any year now he will retire?

I live in nyc also and one of my real close friends is a giants fan and we usually watch the games together and he loves Osi. The only reason why he didn't miss him when he got injured is because they have an abundance of good defensive ends. As far as Osi not being a respected leader? You couldn't be more wrong. He has attitude yes. But maybe that's what we need on the team. Someone with emotion. Enough with the nice guy attitude. This is football.

I think Abraham can still play 15-20 snaps a game. Pass rush specialist. Is it what i would do? No, unless he came at a very reasonable price.

He is pretty durable, and has not been injury prone through out his career. He would instantly make the pass rush very legit.

He may buy you a year of developing a 2nd or 3rd round pick. Thus, allowing you to use your first couple picks in other need based areas.

OSI is going to get paid big bucks for his name and he is still in the grey area of being over the hill. Abraham is over the hill, but has some left in the tank.
