Fish bench Henne for Pennington

with Penne there's a limit how far they can go too, based on how far he can throw ... about 30 yards.

That's a completely false statement. Pennington is actually one of the highest rated passers on deep balls in NFL history, and yeah, he can throw over 30 yards.

The problem being everytime he does he separates his shoulder again. Stats lie, he certainly hasn't thrown that many (in ratio to short passes) in his long illustrious career. In fact, if you look up Capt. Checkdown first you see Chad then you see Trent.

Except if we're being honest, Chad has led teams to the playoffs (For us getting to the playoffs is fantastic right now) and more importantly doesn't just check down. The fact is that whether he throws it 3 yards or 30 he has proven to be an effective enough player to win games. Franchise? Of course not. Will he play well? Who knows. However he has led the Dolphins and Jets to the playoffs.

Short term this might be an ok move for the Dolphins, but long term it could be devastating. Henne is still a young, serviceable quarterback who can manage a game and help his team win. He's had great moments and not-so great moments. He's going through some growing pains but I think down the road he's got starting quarterback potential, especially for a lot of teams.

Probably because they can only throw it down field when the WRs completely wide open. But even worse than that his noodle arm lacks zip on short passes, which often flutter and bloop and get picked. I remember it was one of those side out 10 yard bloopers that got picked by Roosevelt Colvin and cost him a playoff loss to Pats.

You can thank the Buffalo Bills Mr. Henne. Don't think that Miami's coaching staff did not take note of 500+ yds (high 300's passing) that the Bills laid on Baltimore in their previous home game. Miami's offense by comparison was completely ineffective. The Ravens have a very mild pass rush this year and decent QB's should be able to pick them apart. Of course they are very opportunistic in the secondary which makes up for it somewhat.

Jake Long over Matt Ryan was a monumentally stupid decision for the phins.

Any time a franchise QB is there when you're drafting at the top of the 1st round (and you usually need one unless you just drafted a QB at the top of the round the year before) and you don't take him, you're begging to have it come back & haunt you. With Parcells, he never has to worry because by the time the situation with his team & the team that took the guy can be evaluated, he's long gone. I'll probably see him at Saratoga Race Course next summer, while Henne is flaming out in Miami's camp.
