PERIOD. That IS a fact. Sorry you guys love Barry Jr. b/c he's Barry Jr....but he looks like a solid recruit for D1 nothing more. His highlight tape is not near as impressive as many of the guys I've seen in the past coming out of high school...he's 5'8, 180lbs...his speed isn't blinding...all I can say is he had better go somewhere besides 'Bama b/c he won't see the field he'll have to transfer. That's a different kind of factory...go to Fla. Guy is a scrub I've seen better high school highlight films check out Percy Harvin's... A legit 4.4 is still fast. Furthermore the kid is a JUNIOR in HIGH SCHOOL. He will almost certainly shave some time off that sprint over the next few years. As for it being fast enough for teams like Florida, 4.4 is faster than times clocked by wide receivers David Nelson and even Percy Harvin (yes he may have clocked faster, but he clocked a 4.41 in the combine). dayman Posted October 19, 2010 Share Posted October 19, 2010 Yeah yeah...you guys need to learn what tongue and cheek is...obviously the kid is good..great high school back and has speed...my point is I watch a lot of high school videos and that's nothing extraordinary...his time is not very fast at all really all those guys have that type of time "as a junior in high school"...hell guys clock in at 4.1 in high school sometimes...(a lot of BS goes on in high school)... I've seen better highlight tapes and I'm sure there are better ones being made right now this board just drooling over this kid (some of it) b/c it must not not watch very many highlights from high school (not that you should) and b/c the kid is a Sanders.... The kid has amazing lateral ability and its amazing to me how quickly he can get to full speed. Apparently he was just on a recruiting visit to Alabama. Kid had speed like I have NEVER seen before...and he was NOT big AT ALL! Kaheem Gist senior season highlights. First team All-fingerlakes, All-Greater Rochester, and All-State. Figerlakes and All Greater Rochester player of the Year. 2,300 yrds and 42 TD's senior year, sectional record 449 yrds and 7 TD in one game, scored 7 TD in a single game twice, too many records to list. That’s an average of 273 yards and over four scores per game. Not even his two all-time favorite running backs — LaDainian Tomlinson and Marshall Faulk — can boast of four-game stretches like that. No...I actually meant people in the school. That might be the 1 reason he is not playing football right now, nobody ever cared about him enough to help him with his academics. I could only do so much, as I was looked at more as an older brother, than a mentor, coach or teacher. Everyone was always so quick to blame him for acting up in school as well. I worked in the school, I went to that school...I know how they are. We never had a black kid on the basketball team til Gist came along, and he still did not play much, being one of the better players. Two boys I graduated with were amazing basketball players, but they were black. So they never made the team. Canandaigua was happy with the recognition Kaheem Gist got them, they did not care what happened to him after that 2007 football season. But what I was actually saying was that some kid from a small town in Upstate NY, looked just as good playing high school football as Barry Sanders JR. I ran a 4.6 in pads and a 4.6 out of pads my sophomore to junior year summer, it was very odd, especially for OL/DE/LS/everything else I played. My point is our RB and one WR ran 4.45 and 4.52. In a race of any length between 40yards and 400m I would smoke them. I cannot explain it, but the clock doesn't mean crap. I was hands down the fastest on my team from sophomore year on. Our RB went on to Ball State, too. His running form was not perfect, he needs to be 4.2-4.3 to be considered "fast." But what do these numbers really show anyway? Congrats Sanders you have a nice high school highlight film...everyone does...and many many college players who don't even work out have better highlight films than that. I think His tape is Decent but i don't think it compares to the talent in JR's video. I'm actually from Churchville and had the privelege to play Football with two Division 1 recruited RB's. Averin-08 and Kevin Collier-06 (Syracuse and Pitt). Being around HS football i watched a lot of their highlight tapes as well as other RB's coming out of HS. But out of all of them i didn't see anyone with lateral ability like Barry has. He is a special player and will do big things. Kevin actually had the Section 5 rushing record for a year before the kid from a lesser division broke it in 2006. something like 5300 yds?
