Why would ANY Bills fan care what an ex-Dolphins coach thinks???? dry.gif

One of our favorite Doug Flutie stories was when then-Dolphins coach Jimmy Johnson, trying to motivate his team for an upcoming game against the Bills, destroyed a box of Flutie Flakes in front of his team. [insert mental image of Jimmy 'Hairspray' Johnson stomping on a box of cereal, thinking it would inspire his team to win a football game.] When Flutie heard about the incident, his face fell. "That cereal is to benefit autism research," said Flutie, whose son is autistic. "That's like him stomping on my son." Johnson later issued a public apology.

Flutie had it all wrong, Jimmy had to buy a box to stomp on, didn't he?

He makes Extenze commercials.

See for yourself.

I don't doubt that Johnson could benefit from Extenze (and Viagra, for that matter), but it seems there's nothing that f&%#ing whore won't lend his name to, whether he knows anything about the product of not...

This season just gets more intriguing to me. Cowher seems to think very highly of Chan Gailey. I don't know how many are aware that Gailey is actually part of the Lou Saban 'coaching tree' -

The last time the Bills won a League Championship (1965), Bills head coach...

Lou Saban coached a linebacker named...

Marty Schottenheimer who, when he was head coach of the Cleveland Browns and then KC Chiefs, hired a special teams coach and then defensive coordinator named...

Bill Cowher who, while head coach of the Pittsburg Steelers, for 4 years had a WR coach and then offensive coordinator named...

Chan Gailey!!!

What does this portend? Is this a good omen? Could perhaps another Buffalo Bills league championship be on the horizon???

19 and 0 baby!!!! B-)

Chan Gailey is also in the Bacon Tree of coaches:

Chan Gailey was a WR coach and then offensive coordinator for Bill Cowher

Bill Cowher was in the movie The Waterboy with Clint Howard

Clint Howard was in the movie My Dog Skip with Kevin Bacon!

That's only 3 degrees of Bacon! Gailey can't fail.

"could be a surprise team." That's the quote.

And at the end, "I don't think Buffalo's going to make the playoffs. But I think we'll see that they're on the right track and getting themselves in position where they can make a playoff run in the near future."

He never says we'll win games.

I think there's a good chance he might be right, that we can maybe make people think that some year very soon, we might not be marginal anymore.

Sad when the best publicity we've gotten by FAR still includes "Hey, I don't think Buffalo's going to make the playoffs."

God damn it. I barely remember what playoff football feels like.

I remember what it feels like. One minute you're on top of the world having actually won the game, the next you're walking out of the bar in a daze with dozens of other grown men and women openly crying because people forgot to stay in their lanes and the ref wasn't about to overrule a forward lateral against the home team. Damn, it still stings.

You know Senator,

For a fellow baby boomer (semi-phogie) like myself, I love that you're not jaded.

You have to keep in mind, The Senator is, minimum, half-in-the-bag most of the time.

But otherwise (with the exception of the 19-0 prediction) I agree with you. Of course I am often, minimum, half-in-the-bag much of the time, too.

Like yourself, I look for the silver lining and while I won't turn it into the silver plating on a Lombardi Trophy, I share your optimism and positive outlook.

Enjoy the game, brother.

Thanks, man - hope all is well, and that the blast didn't knock out the CATV network out there!

Nothin' but diet ginger ale so far, Deano, tho I may have a little nip shortly to celebrate and enhance the broadcast debut of...

When did this thread get hijacked from a Bill Cowher quote to a discussion on Phil Simms quote

That implies half of you is OUT of the bag, which is unacceptable and needs to be remedied

I back Edwards, but perfect spirals every time? I think he can be a good quarterback, but I don't see that as one of his strengths.

Actually, I thought his delivery improved dramatically this summer. If you watch old highlights (even from his impressive stretch at the start of the '08 season) and then watch highlights from this preseason, something about his throwing motion looks different - it's like it's crisper and there seems to be more wrist action.
