Round 2, Pick #41: DT Torell Troup - Central Florida

Troup needs to be better than Joseph, Cody, Cam Thomas, Charles Brown, and Jimmy Clausen to for it to be a great pick. He just needs to beat out the first 3 for it to be a good/decent pick.

That's silly. Looking at how other players end up performing on other teams, surrounded by different players with different coaches, is a fools errand. The way you judge a pick is how he ends up working out for your team. If he plays very well, he was a great pick. The rest is total BS.

Balt takes Cody. Balt schools us every year in the draft.

Ergo, we should've taken Cody.

Wow according to your thought process they schooled 30 additional teams as well since no one else thought Cody was worth taking so far :D

The BILLS finally pick a fat guy. A captain. A guy who was regularly doubled.

Not good enough because the mocks say his value is lower. How's JC's value? Bulaga's? Williams'? McCoy's?

34 NTs are NOT a dime a dozen.

The home page quotes Troup himself as saying he's been more of a 4-3 DT, but can adjust. . . so much for the notion that he is exclusively a NT

Baltimore's situation is far different. They're proven and they can use their veterans to keep Cody in line. To say nothing of the fact that he's going to be a situational player who's not going to see 40% of the snaps on that team. Cody's chances of success are far higher in Baltimore than they would be in Buffalo.

Of course he's a 43 DT - it's college. Welcome to why it's so hard to find a 34 DT. NO program plays a 34.

If a pure nose tackle was so necessary in the 2nd, then why not Linval Joseph? He's bigger, stronger and seems to be better in penetration as well. Went to the Giants a few picks later. I'm just not a fan of Troup. There is a reason why 9 out of 10 had him going in the 3rd.

The Best NT's in the league are 6'3" or shorter down to 6'1". It gives them better leverage. JMO I also think Troup is a more aggressive player than Joseph is.

Vince Wilfork 6'2" 325

Casey Hampton 6'1" 325

Ryan Pickett 6'2" 340

Torrell Troup 6'2.75" 314

fans are great...Hey EastRochBillsfan, did this guy park on your front lawn by accident during Bills training camp or something? He wanted a OT...and one is probably coming...it just happened that Troup was higher on the Bill's draft board...no cause for gauze...

just another ignorant WNY redneck, he's the guy who's busted for pissing on himself in the stands or in his living room.... and remember it's rochester.... forgive him. he knows not what he does...

Alabama runs a 3-4

They really don't. It's more of a hybrid that changes based on formation. Texas more regularly plays a traditional 34 than Alabama does. 2 schools that play it more often doesn't change the point that the guy we drafted HAS NEVER PLAYED the 34 or the point that it's difficult to project an NFL NT based on how colleges play defense.
