My Farewell to the Buffalo Bills

Recommended Posts

I wish all of you guys well. I have served the team faithfully in cities all-around the country proud of my colors. Well I'm not from western NY, but the Adirondacks, and I've never seen the Bills play live. I've watched just about every game since I discovered football in 89'. I even watched the entire Oilers game and I BILLeved.

Why should I treat a team like a wife or a child I love? They don't treat me that way, they treat me as a product they can capitalize on, and if that's true why oh why should I treat the product so lovingly when I cannot love the product they give me? Why should be so hell-bent on the emotions of a team that I don't live there and MAINLY because you treat the customer like garbage?

People can say I'm a bandwagon jumper and to that I say B.S. I always had hope the product would improve and I could enjoy the game even if they lose. I enjoyed watching the Bledsoe years as much as they pained me because we tried to improve the team even though the results weren't great. I got excited about Losman as a 1st rounder even after his 2 games under 80 yards and I was scratching my head how he was in the NFL. I loved the Flutie OR Johnson year, even the Collins years.

Now as a man in my 30's I realize this is a business, and why should I treat this business like my freaking family when it spits in my face? I should be following players and liking those teams they play on. Some team that is exciting and young with a good nucleus I could enjoy for 8-10 years.

The hiring of an old man as GM without any experience and a figure-head to a nerd who knows nothing about football, to an owner who won't hire a guy like Schott, to finally now hiring a guy like Gailey has me relinquish my love for this team.

I wish everyone well and I'm sure all the "don't let the door hit ya" posts will be lost on me as I don't care.

Thanks Ralph!!!!

Evidently not always, Jackass!!

Tougher.. not tougher.. Just plain foolish! The blind looyality among Bills fans is FOOLISH! Batterd fan syndrome. Hope you enjoy getting abused for the next three years! LOL.

Friend - I applaud your clarity and hope you stay true to your convictions. You are right, the old man has treated all Bills fans like a trained monkey. Fetch the coins and I will give you a peanut Bills fans! I am sorry to see you go, but I wholly suppor tthe decision and wish you well. Enjoy your new found freedom.

everyone who sends jackassish remarks to this guy is the real jackass, and you're the reason why we have ****ty product. keep crawling back to ralph year after year. this was a good post. I'm still a Bills fan, but just because someone doesn't want to waste their money on a ****ty product year after year, it doesn't mean you're a "better fan" than them. I am done buying tickets and merch until I see a change.

the definition of insanity per einstein: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

THAT is all of you folks. I will change, and not pour money into senile Ralph's little BUSINESS (remember, that's what it is. and guess what, you're all being scammed by believing it's all about football). Russ and Ralph love all of you "loyalists" who keep coming back.

All I'm saying is you can still be a fan of the football team itself, but you don't have to contribute to Ralph and Russ' big scam they're pulling over on Western New York known as The Buffalo Bills.

Show your fanhood by following the team, and rooting for them to win. If you want a change, don't spend your hard-earned money on the Bills (hoping Ralph kicks soon can't hurt either... jk... kinda)

I really hate to see such unhappy people maybe I can help;

Again, as stated previous times, Bills fans are appearing to be a fairly brittle, fragile, and entitled bunch. Getting over amped up because an owner made a choice without consulting all the 'smart' people on this board. Really. Reading these posts is absolutely humorous and offers strong evidence Bills fans are whimply, short sited, and feel unusually entitled in some way.

What part of a "Boss hired someone he was comfortable with" is hard to wrap your mind around? Ralph owns the team. Ralph can do what he wants and does not need to placate 'WNY".

Or am I missing something?

You really should have put SOME Bills fans as was suggested before, but I agree with yoiu.

Hey StupidNation, If you want to move on to a new team, have at it. That's your right but whats up with the "Dear John" letter? If you feel the need to express your dissatisfaction with the hope that someone in the FO will read it, why not just write a letter and send it to the GM at One Bills Drive in Orchard Park? Spare us the drama.

To the rest of you that are thinking about resigning as Buffalo Bills fans, please just delete TwoBillsDrive from your favorites and slip away silently. You wont be missed anyway.

Proud Buffalo Bills fan since 1966 :w00t:

No, no, no!! His post is one of the most enjoyable reads I've had here. :censored:

Noted and appreciated. I believe the 'silent majority' of Bills fans are actually ok with the hire, yet they do not post because:

(a) it is a game, after all. And there are too many things to over analyze beside a coaching hire.

(b) life is pretty tough now and to get stressed over an owner making a choice he is entitled to is, well, pretty bizarre.

© they are confident that hiring Marty would not guarantee a turn around. Remember, Marty ran Drew Brees out of SD. Drew Brees......what kind of evaluator is that for goodness sake?

So even if Nix and Gailey are terrible, some good came from this move. You are a brutal poster and I'm glad we don't have to look forward to any more of your posts. Please keep your word. :w00t:

Get in line for the next barrel over the Falls. Seems like there's a few dozen of you on the board. Maybe you can get a group discount on barrels

Hey check this out!!! http://kelleysrainbarrels.blogspot.com/ They can even put a lid on it!!! :censored:

I don't ever post on this or any board, I just read. I am finally ready to add my two pennies.... I have been a fan for some time, I'm sure not nearly as long as others but I remember as youngster when we were in the superbowl years collecting the full page images from the newspaper of different players and posting all of them around my house the day of the big game, and I sat there , waiting for the game to start, most of the time without the rest of my family really providing any support. Every year being just as upset as the rest of you but still coming back time and time again, because I cared about this team. I will always care about this team, there is no other team that could possibly step in and make me feel the same way. For the select few of you who are determined to give up and move on and B word and complain about leaving and being let down, and not caring anymore, I say you were never fans. Of course it hurts.... it fing blows.... but I don't own this team or ever plan on having the money to own won, as I'm sure most of you don't. While I think there have been a lot of mistakes made over the years as far as leadership decisions go, without our owner, and the supporters of this team, i would have to watch sports like baseball and basketball which don't come close to matching the excitement and joy of watching my team, the bills, even take the field. So walk away, take your season tickets and run, but remember what the feeling, good or bad, that this team brings into your life. At least its an emotion.

yes please B word... you don't know the joy i get out of that... but don't tell me or anyone else that you are giving up on a team when you are wasting your time posting on one of their message boards. get me?

Stellar first two posts!! Welcome aboard!! :w00t:

oh and i hope last but not least for the night... you will hear much more from me, its really not smart to maintain silence.

:w00t:

Good stuff. I played the game through college and liek to think I know it a little bit. I'll admit I'm a bit of a homer when it comes to the Bills. But I grew up loving this team and it's one of the few ways my hometown gets national recognition. The last decade has sucked but I still have a ton of great memories goign to games. We are one of 32 cities in the world that gets to have a NFL team. It is special.

All we have is hope. no one can forsee the future. I hate miserable whiney people and refuse to associate with them. I won't spent my free time coming here to female dog. I never got people who do. But everyone is free to do what they want. i just think it's funny that some people think others actually care if they quit. Just leave and stop beign an attention whore about this.

I just wish that we coudl keep this quitting posts in one place to bump them if (god willingly) the Bills ever become again. Because the good doesn't feel as good without the bad. There would be no better feeling that to see the Bilsl in the playoffs again knowing I stuck through them think and thin. In my opinion, that's what being a fan is all about.

No, as I stated before this is very entertaining and a real emotional lift!!

Awesome post dude. You've got a great perspective on things you are 100% spot on IMO.

I am more worried about them not jumping fence going out the first time rather than coming back. We have heard more and more of this and it i always the same unless they get banned - they come back, sometimes with a new user name.

I think a separate board would be more appropriate with them restricted to that board until released again. This way they each can have a thread and they can echo each others quiting until end of Bills football.

I'm pretty sure the mods know if somebody comes back under a different name. If he does I hope they publicly out him.

i dont care if buddy nix would of come out today and said gomer freakin pyle was our new head coach, i would still be a diehard bills fan. go red white and blue, god bless america, god bless the bills, we will need it :)

It would have been funny as hell to see him come out and and say; "The next HC of the Buffalo Bills is... SURPRISE! SURPRISE! SURPRISE!!

At least you can tell by the replies who the people that are actually buying season tickets are.

Everytime I ask my friends in Buffalo they all shrug and don't know anyone. Well, here they are.

Don't let the door hitcha where the good lord splitcha!! Adios bandwagon jumper. :censored:

If Gailey turns out to be an excellent HC I'll laugh hysterically at these people. Look for the bandwagon to fill up if that happens.

Will you laugh at yourself if he doesn't?

I do hear what your saying but you got to understand what 10yrs of losing does to a fanbase. I am starting to warm up to gailey, the guy has good credentials.

I have told you this before but I will say it again. I can not wait for the day Manning retires, & that day is coming sooner rather later to see how the Colts fan base reacts to watching lousy qbing play on a weekly basis. I bet the oil can will be 1/2 filled with the prices they are charging.

If I ever quit the Bills (I will take a vacation as long as Vick is here if we sign him) the NFL is dead to me. With that said, this guy is a troll, small loss.

What you guys don't seem to appreciate is that for every "troll" who posts one of these farewell letters there are thousands of other people who aren't leaving a letter. They're simply giving up and going away, like you guys want. This franchise is in DEEP trouble because right now it is BLEEDING fans.

How is this franchise in deep trouble? Because they hired a coach you don't like? Things have been much worse over the years.

There is no evidence that the franchise is "bleeding fans" because a few idiots on a message board claim that they won't ever watch the team again. No one takes you bandwagon jumpers seriously. There is one thing to be angry, as I am and alot of people are. But if you don't want to watch the team, spare us your lame "letters" and just disappear.

They will NEVER disappear. They feel the need to tell us everything that is wrong with the Bills and with us for continuing to support

I don't even have a strong opinion of Gailey. Want to know why this franchise is in trouble? Because it is an unattractive place to play (as voted by players) and coach (as shown by this coaching search). It is a franchise in a shrinking market that has a depressed economy. It is a franchise that hopes to sustain its place in WNY by selling its soul to Toronto and 'regionalizing'...a marketing strategy that I absolutely agree with because it's the only way the Bills can survive in Buffalo. It's a team that sooner than later will be faced with the uncertainty of not having an owner. It is a team that hasn't gone to the playoffs in a decade and hasn't been a real postseason threat in 15 years. This franchise is in chaos right now. The last thing it can afford is to do is bleed fans by making decisions that are not believed (by fans) to be the right decisions to make this team a winner again.

Now if Gailey rights the ship, fair enough. I'll be the first guy to congratulate Nix on knowing something that the rest of us didn't. But if Gailey becomes the next Jauron, I'm not sure the franchise can recover. This may be the beginning of the end for the Bills in Buffalo. If the fanbase really turns that apathetic towards the hapless Bills, they may have no choice but to move to toronto or los angeles and start fresh with a new fanbase.

Were you around during the really bad years when 20,000-30,000 fans showed up? There has been the threat of the Bills moving for over 40 years now. I will worry about that when it happens.
