  1. This seems like one of those press conferences General Managers give about their head coach. The kind where they assure the media their coach's job is safe and not in jeopardy. Then, two days later, the same GM fires said coach. http://www.npr.org/sections/thetwo-way/2015/06/06/412506802/putin-to-west-russia-is-no-threat
  2. Remember that Trump lies and a signal chat risked our national security etc... Meanwhile the entire universe surrounding POTUS 46 lied to the country for almost the entire term. Leftists: He's still mentally fit, he just aged out of the public part of the job.
  3. In the last few minutes there are reports of Iranian drones (which Russia has) in NATO airspace (Poland). Reports say 3 have been shot down. Polish and NATO jets have been scrambled.
  4. Bc the odds of WWIII sky rocket if Ukraine joins NATO No matter what Putin signs the risk of a future Russian incursion anywhere in Ukraine….isnt zero. Especially if Democrats meddle in Ukrainian elections. EU? Fine. NATO? No way.
  5. Polish armed forces say Russian objects have been 'downed', marking the first time the Nato country has directly engaged Russian assets in its airspace since the Ukraine war started in 2022 I have a real hard time believing that Russia would take advantage of a weak US position to pressure NATO countries. I mean, who could have possibly predicted that?
  6. My expectations were low because I don't believe a negotiated peace is possible without major concessions from both sides. Russia wants territorial concessions and a neutral Ukraine, no NATO membership, and a rollback of NATO forces from their border with specific security guarantees. Ukraine and Europe want a do over. Unconditional peace and complete Russian withdrawal from occupied territories, NATO and EU membership, and the continuation of encircling Russia and placing offensive weapons at their border. Something has to give or war goes on.
  7. Did they catch the shooter in that massive public place? jeez. I suppose Russia invading polish airspace and the need to act on the NATO pact will just have to wait a while
  8. I think that getting the border secured and getting most NATO countries to provide something close to what they promised are OK.
  9. He has got members to ante up an additional 100 billion dollars. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/trump-is-having-an-impact-nato-head-credits-presidents-tough-talk-for-dollar100b-boost/ar-BBSOGov?li=BBnb7Kz&ocid=HPCOMMDHP15
  10. What we should get: everyone keeps what they currently have, Ukraine joins NATO and the EU. A true compromise peace. What we'll probably get. The President forcing Ukraine to abandon NATO aspirations and cede all the Oblasts Russia annexed in their fake referendums. The EU is forced to continue rearming and centralizing if it wants guarantee the security of Baltics and the rump Ukrainian state.
  11. Exactly, but thanks in large part to U.S. and NATO resolve.
  12. Not even remotely true. And even less true after Trump got NATO to pledge an additional $4 billion.
  13. Bringing the world together for a solution. Also attending: Italian PM Giorgia Meloni, French President Emmanuel Macron, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Germany Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and Finland President Alexander Stubb. But keep starting those hilarious "President Trump got rolled by Putin" threads. .
  14. NATO has no other mission than addressing "threats" from Russia. A mission, I promise everyone supporting or not supporting that alliance, that will never end. If the mission was ever proclaimed complete the reasons for the existence of the alliance would no longer be valid and the alliance would have no reason to exist. No threats to address, no wars to prepare for against Europe. But civilian and military leaders invested in continuing NATO will never allow that to happen. Its simply not in their best interests to ever eliminate the Russian "threat". So they will gleefully milk the taxpayers of a couple dozen nations and keep up the ruse that Russia is intent on re-assembling the Soviet Union. Something they not only have no desire to do but also something they don't have the economic or military capabilities to pull off. So the charade will continue.
  15. What you say is correct in a perfect world, but that world was not the Biden World and certainly isn't Trump World. I think reparations are off the table. It simply won't happen. It's ridiculous that Trump has effectively taken NATO membership off the table in negotiations. It seems the thinking is something short of accession to NATO (with it's security guarantees) and something more like a European military presence. No one knows exactly what the sentiment of the Ukrainian populace is today, but it seems like there's a strong sentiment toward some significant territorial concessions as long as there is reasonable assurance that Putin will declare victory and leave them alone, at least as far as invasion/bombing goes ... I would expect him to keep meddling on the political/covert front, because the KGB is gonna KGB.
  16. Of course this benefits Putin. Now the temp is up, Trump doesn’t want NATO involved, and the bet on the Russian side is that Trump will turn up the heat on Zelenskyy to capitulate. The bet further is that Europe won’t respond (a safe bet, and not because of European weakness), and Russia suffers no harm. Unless, of course, those sanctions that Trump never followed through on are imposed. Which they probably won’t be. So it’s a smart play for Putin.
  17. And do you think Pooty Poot would actually agree to this? If so, why? I'd have to see it to believe that. What's one of his biggest hang ups to peace now? Ukraine joining NATO. How would what you propose be different and agreeable to him? He holds the cards and has veto power on any deal.
  18. Israel attacks Iran, with our significant financial and military support but against our wishes- stay out. Russia attacked Europe and essentially NATO- we support Ukraine, Europe and NATO Europe is (waS OUR ALLY) Russia is (was) our enemy. What's so difficult? didn't some maga here post something derogatory about neo cons?
  19. What?? Ukraine is “essentially” NATO?? Um. No. Israel is our ally. Iran is a legit global threat especially to the West. Lost. You people are lost.
  20. @JDHillFan What are you rolling your eyes at? Military missions are gambles, maybe they work, maybe they don't. In 1999 Yugoslav forces tricked NATO into bombing fake targets. Deception is a major part of war
  21. Yeah, the two previous “big boys” were really listened to by any of them… And are you joking about NATO? Who do you think got them to pledge more money? Do you think it just happened on its own? 🙄
  22. The major issues are pretty clear here. 1. The questions of NATO and EU membership for Ukraine. 2. Territorial concessions including Crimea and Donbas. 3. Security guarantees insisted on by Russia. Both side have diametrically opposed positions on each of those. And to this point there is no compromise solution. So either somebody blinks which means Trump breaks ranks with Zelensky and European leadership or Putin backs down, neither of which I can foresee, or its no deal.
