I agree. While a couple of big name/big contract additions would have been flashy and sparked a lot of short-term excitement, I like how Beane is upgrading the current talent level on the team as a whole without breaking the bank (plus still has room for more).

Out of all the FA's the Bills have signed so far, I noticed Morse and Beasley's contracts are the longest at four years, otherwise the rest are three years or less. Also, assuming Josh Allen turns out to be the QB we all hope he can turn out to be, he will have four years left on his rookie contract (with the Bills picking up his fifth year option). By that time, Beane will have to pay Allen well over $100M on a five or six year contract. I like how Beane is being very calculated with his current crop of FA signings, knowing he has about four years where he can spend in numerous areas, while also setting the team up for these contracts to expire when Allen is ready for his big payday. I'm interested in seeing how Beane's plan will unfold over the next five years.

Not necessarily. The Bills were unable to generate any pressure on Darnold/McCown this Sunday, so they could always upgrade the DE position.

During the playoff drought, the Bills average finish was between 6-10/7-9, by which the Bills average draft position was between 8-13. That was not high enough to draft elite player, but it was bad enough the Bills wasted how many first round picks on DB's and RB's during that period. While no one wants to see the Bills purposely lose, strategically, it would be better for them to lose out, get the highest draft pick they can get (which hopefully will be a Top 5 pick) that is an elite player who can make an immediate impact on the team. The Bills have a lot of holes on this team, so they need all the help they can get. The Bills are not making the playoffs this year and there will be a lot of turnover, so they might as well build for the future.

Jimmy, welcome back!! Always enjoy your posts! I think Darnold is going to struggle the rest of the year, especially under Bowles. Once Bowles gets canned in the offseason and the Jets bring in better talent around Darnold, I can see him doing a lot better next year and in years to come. I can see the AFC East being between the Bills and Jets in the future. As for this Sunday, I'm expecting Josh Allen to throw for 300 yards and rush for over 100. Expect another beatdown!

Jerry Sullivan and Bucky Gleason were driven out of town by the Pegula's, too bad they couldn't do the same to Mike Schopp. But, removing two out of the three douchebags isn't bad.
