Is Evans a #1 on the Bills and a #2 anywhere else?
Jerry Jabber replied to MClem06's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The only one posting stupid posts is you. All your posts are about how bad the Bills suck, how they will be the worst team in the league and draft at #1. If you think the Bills are gonna be that bad, then why even bother posting here? Does posting your negativity make you feel better? Get a life already you loser! I get it, you're a huge Lee Evans fan, there's nothing wrong with that. I've clearly pointed out that Evans is not a true #1 WR and stated the reasons why. Evans is a #2 WR and there's nothing wrong with that. -

I was listening to the announcers on MNF and they called out Evans on that play. Yes, it was a bad throw by Edwards, but Evans could have at least jumped up and put his arm between the defenders arms and try and knock it away, or at the very least, try tackling the defender that way there was no gain on the INT. Why are you still posting? Didn't C. Biscuit & Mike Oxhurtz call you out? Still afraid to accept their bets? -

Sorry, but the announcers even called out Evans for not even attempting to jump or fight for the ball. -

I don't base a #1 WR only only his size, but mainly by his production on the field. IMO, the best short #1 WR in the league is Steve Smith. How many times have we've seen from Evans where he'll have 1 good game followed by 3-4 games where he catches 2-4 balls per game and has minimal yards? A lot of times. IMO, the only coach that really knew how to effective use Evans was Mike Mullarkey (I'm not saying Mularkey was a good HC, just had a good offensive mind). Mularkey had Evans lined up all over the field so he could get open. Once Jauron came in, the offense was bland, predictable and Evans was primarily lined up on the outside. I like Evans, he's a classy player and is a great deep threat, but he's not a #1 WR. Maybe Gailey can put Evans is better spots this season to be more productive? -

You missed the part where I said "consistently" I never said he couldn't outleap or outmuscle, but Evans can't do it on a consistent basis. That was a good play on Evans part, but since you like to point out one particular play, how about this one: The MNF game vs Dallas where our defense had 6 INT's and Edwards threw a pass to Evans in the endzone, but Evans didn't even jump to fight for the ball to try and prevent the INT and the INT was nearly brought back by the Dallas defense for a TD. Evans didn't even bother to leap, jump or fight for the ball. -

Lee doesn't have to the ability to shed the double-teams like a true #1 WR can. Lee is a very good short, speedy WR, but he doesn't have the size & strength to constantly outleap and outmuscle DB's. Once Lee starts losing his speed, he'll turn into another Peerless Price. -
I'd say Matthews and Johnson might have a shot at making the roster, the rest will be gone.

I think he's gonna retire. Signing Torbor is a sign that the Bills adding depth to the linebacking corps and are getting ready to move on. IMO, Schobel would benefit as an OLB with having a straight shot at the QB and with being good against the run, but he's way behind the learning curve. Nobody knows how Schobel will do in coverage. I'd wish he'd stop the Brett Favre antics (with pondering retirement) and the Bruce Smith antics (not showing up to OTA's, mini-camps...etc) and get his butt to work.

http://www.realfootball365.com/articles/bills/14881 Some of the article was stuff we've already heard from Whitner & T. Edwards. Just reading about the Bills offense ranking 30th 3 out of 4 years during the Jauron era...YUCK!!! No more reminders, please!! I hope Gailey can turn that around this year.

You have a good point. I would love to see Easley make an impact and push for the #2 WR position. -
More Proof Bruschi Is Indeed Superhuman....

After the MNF game when Bruschi returned and all the announcers talked about Tedy Bruschi the entire football game , I don't ever want to hear his name again. -

I agree. So far, Easley has been impressive and has been able to get behind the defenders. Most rookie WR's rarely have any impact so I'm not looking for much production from Easley this year. If Easley has an impact this season, then we will all be pleasantly surprised. -
I agree that Fitz looks a little better than the rest of the QB's now. I think what will set all the QB's apart is how they play in preseason against other teams instead of their own players.

It's obviously this guy doesn't want back up his claim that the Bills will pick first overall and doesn't want to accept Mike's offer that the Bills won't draft in the Top 10 next year. He's afraid to lose $200. -
LMAO!!!

I agree 100% I actually see the Bills being better this year because of the improvements to bolster the run defense and Gailey leading the offense. -

I see the Bills finishing around 8-8/9-7. Considering all the fallout last season: Trading Peters and not getting an adequate replacement, putting Walker at LT, the no-huddle offense that didn't work, Jauron wanting a dulled down pop-warner type offense, Walker & Schonert getting fired 10 days before the start of the season, D. Bell put as starting LT 10 days before the season, Van Pelt being thrown in as OC 10 days before the start of the season, and 20 players on IR and the team still finished 6-10. There is talent on this team, but the problem over the last 4 years was having a positional coach as a Head Coach. Dick Jauron is a good secondary coach, nothing more. Jauron was a failure as a defensive coordinator and a even bigger failure as a Head Coach. Jauron had absolutely no clue to properly run a football team. Jauron's philosophy was, if he treated his players well then they will work hard for him. While that philosophy works great in the regular workforce, it does not work in professional sports. The offense under Jauron was bland and predictable. Only 1/3 of the defense (the pass defense) was good (which ranked #2). Now, Bills players are getting a taste of how a NFL team should be operated. We've all read Whitner's comments about the new Strength & Conditioning workouts. And we've also read Trent's comments about Gailey's offense. The Bills will surprise a lot of people this year. -
6th round pick Danny Batten
Jerry Jabber replied to mike oxhurtz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You're not kidding. I'm so sick of small LB's that are under 230 LB's and DE's under 250 LB's. The Tampa 2/bend-don't-break defense was the wrong defense for Buffalo. Those big DE's & LB's are exactly what the Bills need in November & December in cold, snowy games. -

I don't know if it was him or not, but I saw a mercedes with tinted windows and no license plates in Caz Park this morning with smoke coming from the windows. If that was Marshawn, I guess he figured he'd blend in good with the carnival workers tearing down the caz park carnival from this weekend.

I agree. Since the pick used on Batten was one of the one's from the Jason Peters trade, that would be great to have another solid player out of that deal. -

Hopefully, Batten works out. It should be interesting to see who will be the Bills starting OLB's whether Schobel retires or plays. Between Ellis, Kelsay & Maybin, can these guys make the transition from DE to OLB?
