  1. IMO, Nix knows what to look for in a QB. At SD, Nix took part in drafting Drew Brees in 2001. Also, a few years later, Nix took part in drafting Eli Manning, which ultimately SD swapped out with the Giants for Phillip Rivers. Out of the 3 QB's mentioned, 2 of them have won the Superbowl. IMO, Nix didn't feel the QB's that were available in this years draft were the right one's, so he passed on them, which I can't say I blame him. Why take a QB that you don't have a ton of confidence in and possibly be stuck with him for another 3 to 4 years, then have to draft another one? We've seen this too many times since the mid-90's with the Bills: Collins, R. Johnson, Losman and now possibly T. Edwards. If Edwards, Brohm or Fitz can't get it done, then Nix will address the QB situation next year when there are better QB's in the draft.
  2. Here's an article that you should find interesting: http://www.realfootball365.com/articles/bills/14829 I agree, Jauron was a disaster.
  3. Sounds like you're either a relative of Littman or Wilson. I don't worship Polian or think he's God, I just know he was the best GM in Bills history and one of the best GM's in the NFL. I blame Ralph for being cheap and too stubborn. None of us exactly know what went on between Littman & Polian, so I'm not gonna guess. But, I'd rather have the guy on my team that built a superbowl caliber team (which ultimately brought in a lot of money to team) versus the guy who counts the money. What's your excuse for John Butler's & A.J Smith's exodus to San Diego? While we can all be thankful to Ralph for bringing the Bills to Buffalo and keeping them here for 50 years, but he's also a meddling owner and has screwed up time and time again. That's the reason why no big name coach would want to come here and no big name free agent (like McNabb) would want to come here. It has nothing to do with cold weather either, New England & Pittsburgh both play in cold weather cities, but both have great owners.
  4. How do you that Polian didn't try working with Littman instead of fighting him? Do you know this as fact or just a guess? Polian was with the Bills at that time for more than 5 years (at least). If he Polian was a problem maker, like you're portraying him out to be, then why didn't Polian start a fight with Littman back in the late 80's instead of waiting how many years later? Bottom line, Ralph got cheap and ordered Littman to pinch pennies.
  5. Polian was trying to win a superbowl and Littman was penny pinching and holding Polian back. I'm not saying Polian is 'holier than thou', but you don't fire the guy who turned your 2-14 team into a Superbowl contending team. Say what you want about Polian, but his teams have gone to the Superbowl 6 times. Granted, Polians teams only won 1 out of 6 Superbowls, but what Bills fan wouldn't accept that?
  6. First, you shouldn't write everything in capital letters. When you write in all caps, that means you're shouting, lower case letters please. Second, I can see Johnson and Easley having the most success this year. I think Hardy will get a chance at the #2 WR position, but will get beaten out by Johnson. I can see Hardy primarily used as a red zone threat.
  7. Nope, but IMO the Bills should sign Adams as a stop gap, that way they can ease Bell or Wang in and those 2 can learn from a veteran.
  8. +1 How does Darcy Regier still even have a job?
  9. I'd figured Russell would be trying out for the UFL already.
  10. You're not kidding. Ralph has many blunders, but that has to be the absolute worst decision ever made in the history of the NFL. Fire your GM, who took you from 2-14 to multiple Superbowl games, how dumb can you be?!
  11. I disagree about McGahee. McGahee does have some talent, but I wouldn't put him in the Top 20 of RB's in the league. He has an attitude problem and was almost out the door in Baltimore. McGahee went down easy upon contact with a DB. So, I'd rather have Lynch over him. Here's my list: DT - Pat Williams QB - Doug Flutie - wish we kept him over Johnson. Flutie would have been a nice stop gap at QB until the Bills could have drafted a replacement. CB - Antoine Winfield Rueben Brown Travis Henry
  12. Sorry, didn't get to your post before I commented. I remember hearing before the start of the 2001 season, that the 01' Bills were going to be better than the '00 Bills. I also remember Greggo was implementing the 'West Coast Offense' to maximize Johnson's strengths. Yeah, that turned out really good...
  13. Add in the 2001 Bills, that started with Rob Johnson as starting QB (only won 1 game). Van Pelt won the other 2 in that 3-13 season.
  14. Last offseason was a huge cluster f@ck. Jason Peters got his wish and was traded, so Bills braintrust figured since Langston Walker played LT in the 2008 season opener vs the Seahawks that he was going to be the full-time LT. Walker was not comfortable with the switch. Turk Schonert installs the 'no huddle' offense to supposedly maximize Trent Edwards' strengths, but one huge problem, the offensive playbook was stripped down by order of Jauron. Jauron thought there was too many plays and formations and wanted a more dulled down offense. Walker couldn't keep up with the pace of the 'no huddle' offense and the NHO was failing in the preseason big time. So instead of switching back Walker from LT to RT, he's fired 10 days before the start of the season. Bell, is now thrown in as the starting LT 10 days before the start of the season. Turk Schonert is fired and Alex Van Pelt is also thrown in as Offensive Coordinator 10 days before season kickoff, who only 2 years ago was a Quality Control coordinator. That right there was a receipe for disaster, not only for the O-line, but for the entire offense. All of these reasons are why Bell, the QB's and other players on the offense are getting another chance. Nix & Gailey even stated all these problems and said that these players are not getting a free pass due to the circumstances from last year, but they are going to get another chance this year to prove themselves.
  15. I agree. People also forget that Fitz was pulled in a game and Edwards was inserted (for only 3 plays until he was knocked out for the season). Fitz is too inconsistent to be a starting QB, but I'd love to keep him as a backup.
  16. After 4 years of Jauron Ball, I'm looking forward to having an offensive minded coach. If Gailey can get production out of QB's like Tomczak, Thigpen, Fielder and Stewart, then I'm confident he can do the same with one of our QB's. I did 8 years, 8 months in the military before I got medically separated. Like you, I've heard all the ragging (and still do) from being an out-of-town Bills fan, "Wide Right" "Losing 4 Superbowls" "Your team is going to Toronto or LA". IMO, the Bills will finish around 8-8 to 9-7 this year. Nix & Gailey are rebuilding this team and going more with youth. Older guys like C. Green & A. Davis will be stop gaps until Nix can draft other players to replace them. I think Nix is rebuilding this team the right way, but others don't want to hear that. The doom & gloomers expect Ralph to be like Dan Snyder and dump tons of money on free agency...how's Haynesworth working in DC?
  17. Here's a thread you should read: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?...p;hl=doom+gloom
  18. In regards to Chan's plans for training, Chan said he plans to have the practices 2, 1, 2, 1. Jauron barely had 2 a day practices, which is partly why the Bills were unprepared to start most of the seasons during his tenure (also another famous Jauronism: "I wish we had more time"). Maybe the Bills will be actually prepared to start the season for a change.
  19. "According to Daily Press reporter David Squires, Phillips showed up to the party even though Vick is not supposed to be associating with any of his dog fighting co-defendants." This is what will get Vick in trouble in the very least.
  20. You bring up some good points. IMO, the last coach that knew how to really use Evans effectively was Mularkey (not that I'm saying Mularkey was a good HC). Mularkey had Evans lined up all over the field to get him open. With Jauron, Evans was primarily lined up on the outside. When Losman was demoted (hence, deepball to Evans was gone), Evans numbers went down. That's why I'm interested to see what Gailey can do with Evans and the rest of our WR's. I'm hoping Brohm pans out, because he throws a nice deep ball (not to get on the wobbler subject).
  21. All I can say is "DAMN!!!"
  22. Before Jauron took over, the Bills used to scrimmage against the Browns during training camp. Will the Bills hold any scrimmages against other teams this year?
  23. I wouldn't doubt that. Brohm throws a nice tight spiral (not to get into the wobbler subject again).
  24. No, I actually thought those 4 QB's (especially Thigpen) were backups at best. But Gailey improved his offenses with those 4 QB's.
