  1. I'd figured Russell would be trying out for the UFL already.
  2. You're not kidding. Ralph has many blunders, but that has to be the absolute worst decision ever made in the history of the NFL. Fire your GM, who took you from 2-14 to multiple Superbowl games, how dumb can you be?!
  3. I disagree about McGahee. McGahee does have some talent, but I wouldn't put him in the Top 20 of RB's in the league. He has an attitude problem and was almost out the door in Baltimore. McGahee went down easy upon contact with a DB. So, I'd rather have Lynch over him. Here's my list: DT - Pat Williams QB - Doug Flutie - wish we kept him over Johnson. Flutie would have been a nice stop gap at QB until the Bills could have drafted a replacement. CB - Antoine Winfield Rueben Brown Travis Henry
  4. Sorry, didn't get to your post before I commented. I remember hearing before the start of the 2001 season, that the 01' Bills were going to be better than the '00 Bills. I also remember Greggo was implementing the 'West Coast Offense' to maximize Johnson's strengths. Yeah, that turned out really good...
  5. Add in the 2001 Bills, that started with Rob Johnson as starting QB (only won 1 game). Van Pelt won the other 2 in that 3-13 season.
  6. Last offseason was a huge cluster f@ck. Jason Peters got his wish and was traded, so Bills braintrust figured since Langston Walker played LT in the 2008 season opener vs the Seahawks that he was going to be the full-time LT. Walker was not comfortable with the switch. Turk Schonert installs the 'no huddle' offense to supposedly maximize Trent Edwards' strengths, but one huge problem, the offensive playbook was stripped down by order of Jauron. Jauron thought there was too many plays and formations and wanted a more dulled down offense. Walker couldn't keep up with the pace of the 'no huddle' offense and the NHO was failing in the preseason big time. So instead of switching back Walker from LT to RT, he's fired 10 days before the start of the season. Bell, is now thrown in as the starting LT 10 days before the start of the season. Turk Schonert is fired and Alex Van Pelt is also thrown in as Offensive Coordinator 10 days before season kickoff, who only 2 years ago was a Quality Control coordinator. That right there was a receipe for disaster, not only for the O-line, but for the entire offense. All of these reasons are why Bell, the QB's and other players on the offense are getting another chance. Nix & Gailey even stated all these problems and said that these players are not getting a free pass due to the circumstances from last year, but they are going to get another chance this year to prove themselves.
  7. I agree. People also forget that Fitz was pulled in a game and Edwards was inserted (for only 3 plays until he was knocked out for the season). Fitz is too inconsistent to be a starting QB, but I'd love to keep him as a backup.
  8. After 4 years of Jauron Ball, I'm looking forward to having an offensive minded coach. If Gailey can get production out of QB's like Tomczak, Thigpen, Fielder and Stewart, then I'm confident he can do the same with one of our QB's. I did 8 years, 8 months in the military before I got medically separated. Like you, I've heard all the ragging (and still do) from being an out-of-town Bills fan, "Wide Right" "Losing 4 Superbowls" "Your team is going to Toronto or LA". IMO, the Bills will finish around 8-8 to 9-7 this year. Nix & Gailey are rebuilding this team and going more with youth. Older guys like C. Green & A. Davis will be stop gaps until Nix can draft other players to replace them. I think Nix is rebuilding this team the right way, but others don't want to hear that. The doom & gloomers expect Ralph to be like Dan Snyder and dump tons of money on free agency...how's Haynesworth working in DC?
  9. Here's a thread you should read: http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?...p;hl=doom+gloom
  10. In regards to Chan's plans for training, Chan said he plans to have the practices 2, 1, 2, 1. Jauron barely had 2 a day practices, which is partly why the Bills were unprepared to start most of the seasons during his tenure (also another famous Jauronism: "I wish we had more time"). Maybe the Bills will be actually prepared to start the season for a change.
  11. "According to Daily Press reporter David Squires, Phillips showed up to the party even though Vick is not supposed to be associating with any of his dog fighting co-defendants." This is what will get Vick in trouble in the very least.
  12. You bring up some good points. IMO, the last coach that knew how to really use Evans effectively was Mularkey (not that I'm saying Mularkey was a good HC). Mularkey had Evans lined up all over the field to get him open. With Jauron, Evans was primarily lined up on the outside. When Losman was demoted (hence, deepball to Evans was gone), Evans numbers went down. That's why I'm interested to see what Gailey can do with Evans and the rest of our WR's. I'm hoping Brohm pans out, because he throws a nice deep ball (not to get on the wobbler subject).
  13. All I can say is "DAMN!!!"
  14. Before Jauron took over, the Bills used to scrimmage against the Browns during training camp. Will the Bills hold any scrimmages against other teams this year?
  15. I wouldn't doubt that. Brohm throws a nice tight spiral (not to get into the wobbler subject again).
  16. No, I actually thought those 4 QB's (especially Thigpen) were backups at best. But Gailey improved his offenses with those 4 QB's.
  17. Instead of arguing back & forth about the QB situation, receivers not getting the ball, receivers not getting open...etc, let's just wait until the regular season and take this subject up then. We all know how horrible the offense was under jauron, so let's see what the offense does under Gailey, who is a better offensive coach.
  18. Just like the WR can't throw the ball to himself, the QB can't make the WR get open.
  19. http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/06/25/w...nd-bell-update/ "It looks like getting back on the practice field for Ed Wang and Demetrius Bell will have to wait until training camp." Chris Brown, BB.com If Bell is still not ready to go in 5 weeks, is Jamon Meredith going to be the starting LT going into the season? I hope the Bills have a backup plan in case Bell or Wang are not ready. Maybe Nix should start some dialog with Flozell Adams just in case.
  20. Lee can't constantly beat double coverage like a #1 WR should be able to. You mentioned Steve Smith, IMO Smith is one of the best, short WR's in the game. But look at Smith compared to Evans, Smith's arm's are about twice the size of Evans. Evans is not physical enough to consistently outleap and outmuscle DB's and also consistently shed double coverage. IMO, Evans is a class act, a great #2 WR and I'm glad he's on the team. Now, if this year, Evans has 80 catches and has over 1,000 yards receiving under Chan Gailey, then I will eat crow at the end of the season. Fair enough?! If he doesn't, then how long will you make up excuses for him?
  21. Really, so that's all a #1 WR has to do is get open and go deep and every play? Wow, thank you for that enlightenment
  22. I still wished the Bills would have went after Marty Schottenheimer. Marty's teams have always had great records in the regular seasons and made many trips to the playoffs. What separated Marty & Cowher was that Cowher had over 15 years on 1 team. If Cowher had 10 years or less on the Steelers, he would have been in the same category as Marty and Marv Levy, a great coach that never won a superbowl.
  23. Awesome post and I agree 100%
  24. I'd rather take Gailey's boring and unprepared at times, just as long as it gets us to the playoffs, compared to the very boring, very unprepared, "it's hard to win in the NFL" style of Dick Jauron.
  25. I agree about Johnson & Hardy. I think they will give Hardy a shot at training camp, but I can see Johnson winning the #2 WR position. With the way Easley has been playing, he could make a strong case for #2 or #3. Glad to see the young guys stepping up and playing hard.
