Michael Grange @michaelgrange 37m The Toronto group bidding for the Bills needed to be crazy to win it. They're not and won't: http://ow.ly/B5XdI John Wawrow @john_wawrow 7m odd, the guy chiding Buffalo media on reporting Golisano bidding on #Bills writes bids are due this week. Well, no. Monday is not this week.

I asked Chris Brown from buffalobills.com about the possibility of Brandon Spikes getting a contract extension and got my question answered on the Bills website: "So far through the preseason games, the Bills run defense looks a lot better than it has in years. I feel a big reason for that has been the addition of Brandon Spikes at MLB (and of course, Jim Schwartz as DC). I know Spikes signed a one-year deal with the Bills in the offseason, do you see the Bills offering him a long-term contract extension sometime during the season? I would love to see Spikes re-signed as I feel he’s been a great mentor to the younger players on the team, as well as being a great MLB. Thanks!" "CB: There’s no question that Spikes is a guy that younger players follow. They respect his instincts for the game. To further illustrate that I’ll let LB Ty Powell explain it himself. “Me and Preston Brown are usually side by side, following Spikes and stuff,” said Powell. “Spikes has a lot of knowledge of the game, he has great instincts, so we just follow him around.” The young linebackers on the roster are just trying to soak up whatever they can about playing linebacker in the NFL from Spikes. As for an extension I would expect that to be a wait and see situation, but the run defense is probably the most encouraging thing about this team to come out of the preseason." http://blogs.buffalobills.com/?icampaign=blog_header Hopefully, the Bills will give Spikes a contract extension at some point during the year, as I feel the Bills could have a dominating group of LB's for many years to come (especially when Alonzo comes back healthy).

If you live in the market of a different NFL team...
Jerry Jabber replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I get the Foreskins and the Ravens games living in Northern VA. I could care less about the Foreskins but do watch some Ravens games during the year. In general, I am a fan of football and will watch any game that is a good competitive one. Still, nothing beats a Bills game, especially watching it with a group of Bills fans (highly recommend Jimmy's Old Town Tavern in Herndon, VA). -
Perception of the Team. From an Ex Bills Fan
Jerry Jabber replied to Dr. Trooth's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills are a good QB and good OC from being a contender. I'm expecting to see Orton starting at some point this season. While it took to the 5th preseason game to get the O-line settled, it happened way too late as it's going to take some time for the O-line to gel. Seeing the O-line unable to open holes in the run game and seeing Glass Joe get hit against the Lions backups was not a good sign. If Marrone was smart, he'd can Hackett ASAP. I feel the defense has improved, same with Special Teams, but the offense has regressed significantly which will be the reason why the Bills will fail (again) this year. I'm going with the 14 year average of 6-10 (again), give or take a game or two. Sorry, no blind optimism from me (until Pegula is the new Bills owner). -
Week 1 predictions: Bills @ Bears
Jerry Jabber replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills 30 Bears 27 Glass Joe (excuse me, Manuel) struggles all the way into the 3rd quarter then finally gets going. Bills win it with a FG to end the game. -
Will Marrone get fired before the season and Schwartz take over as HC?

Turmoil brewing between Marrone and Whaley?

I'd love to hear the conversation now between Marrone & Whaley after the stink fest tonight. -

Turmoil brewing between Marrone and Whaley?
Jerry Jabber replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I’m interested in seeing how long the starting offense plays tomorrow night. Usually, the starters either don’t play in the final preseason game or only a series or two. Given how abysmal they looked against the Bucs starters, will Marrone keep them in there for a quarter or more? -
Bears Fans' Week 1 Breakdown

"That's what I was gonna say. All you guys have is a bunch of dudes. What gives?" We used to be able to use pictures like that, but the rules on here changed. -
Bears Fans' Week 1 Breakdown
Jerry Jabber replied to quinnearlysghost88's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think a fan of any team outside of Buffalo thinks the Bills are an easy win because the Bills haven’t been to the playoffs in 14 years and have hovered around 6-10 for many of those 14 years. So, if the Bills were to beat the Bears in Week 1, almost all of the Bears fans will be devastated and not have any faith in their team as they lost to a Bills team that most feel has been a perennial loser for over a decade. -
Just from what I've been reading about Williams' lower back injury, it doesn't sound too promising that he'll return. I hope I'm wrong.

I think Chris Williams will be put on IR and Richardson will be the starting LG for the season.

Turmoil brewing between Marrone and Whaley?

Considering how bad the Bills stunk up the place on Saturday, I'm sure Whaley is fuming at how bad they were. -
Turmoil brewing between Marrone and Whaley?

Mike Rodak @mikerodak 1h Marrone was clearly upset about something. Had some choice language reporters could hear from sideline. Whaley threw up arms in response. Mike Rodak @mikerodak 1h Marrone, Whaley, and Brandon having an animated conversation as Palmer, Manuel, Tuel warm up. I'm wondering why these two are very upset at each other? -
What was the score at halftime? How many passing yards did the Bucs starters have? Dude, just give it a rest already. If you're not concerned about Gilmore and the rest of the secondary, then good for you. +1 The Bills were able to hold the Bucs to minimal gains on 1st and 2nd downs, but could not stop the Bucs from converting on pass plays on 3rd downs.

+1

Two weeks in a row, the Bills secondary has been shredded by two different starting QB's. With the run D improved, teams are throwing it more and so far the secondary looks like a big weakness on the team.
-
Bills offense finally looks good, too bad it wasn't against the 1st string defense.

Hopefully things will change when Terry Pegula is the new owner.
