When am I allowed to push the panic button?
MDH replied to The_Real's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Anybody who would be an immediate improvement over Williams/Anderson. McCargo won't start again this year because Tripplett is still the better option at that spot (I still don't know why the Bills traded back up into the 1st round last year to draft a guy who plays the same exact spot that their top FA plays). The Bills need a guy who is better than Williams and can push Anderson off the team. That, most certainly, can be done via the draft. -

Why, after the draft you'll just get people saying, "you need 2 years to judge this draft" (which is true). Now seems as good of time as after the draft. -

NFL Live just murdered the Bills offseason moves
MDH replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The example wasn't ill advised in the least. The fact that Deon cherry picked teams that were on the verge has something to do with his winning. Deon himself didn't bring the winning to those teams, he was a big part, no doubt, but without the other pieces in place Deon on the team doens't mean squat. No player, not even a QB, can will his team to win simply because he is a "difference maker". It just doesn't happen that way in the game of football. As for your other players, Schobel was not better than Clements last year. If you want to go simply by Pro Bowl voting have at it. Nate is a better CB than Schobel is a DE (and I like Schobel a lot). Anyway, by your rational we should just dump Schobel anyway, that bum. What has he ever done for the Bills? -
By "in a league of his own" do you mean that as a rookie back he averaged 3.6 ypc, was the backup RB, and it's debateable whether he was the most productive rookie on his own team? The guy could end up being spectacular (if he ever learns to run between the tackles) but let's not overstate how good he is right now.

Clements did make the Bills better. You're just not going to realize it until he's gone. As for Clements not being the Bills best player I'd have to throw that blink right back at you. Actually, it deserves a double blink. -
This is who the Bills will take with their #1 pick.

You also don't fix the roof or foundation with just anybody willing to do the job. You find a contractor who can do it well. -
For those Bills fans preaching doom and gloom

Hey that line sounds familiar. I feel like I've heard it somewhere before! -

Yeah, you're totally right. If you put Deon Sanders in his prime on the Bills D in the past 5 years the Bills would have instantly made the playoffs. That's what happens in football you know. If you have one of the best CBs to ever play the game lining up for you then you will automatically win. Getting rid of your best player simply because the team hasn't won while he's been around is not getting rid of dead wood. It's called creating holes. -
So you have these two lines in your post: And you also have these lines: So apparently it's only retarded to have an opinion on whether the Bills are better or worse right now if you think they'll be worse. If you think they'll be better...well, obviously that's not retarded.

I love this type of reasoning. Why not just cut the entire team as none of them have produced a winning record during their tenure with the Bills. Evans? His overall record with the Bills is a losing one. Same with JP, Peters, Schobel, etc. Perhaps it's not Clements that was the problem. Perhaps it was (gasp) some of the other parts of the team? It's great that the Bills went out and addressed the OL but doing that and not retaining their good players doesn't make the off season a successful one. It just creates more holes to fill...which will make the perpetual rebuilding process that much longer. -
Another RB might be available in the trade market
MDH replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Except Jones never lost his job. He started every game last year for the Cowboys and had twice as many carries as Barber. Jones is an okay back (better than anybody currently on the Bills roster or available in FA) and if he didn't cost much in terms of a draft pick he'd be worth taking a look at. As a previous poster stated, I'm not sure what everybody is looking for but the Bills aren't getting LT in the backfield. The closest they could come is if they could land Turner from SD and hope he blossoms into a stud. -
Why do you assume that only the Bills youg players are going to improve? Wouldn't those points really be a wash in predicting improvement? Who knows, maybe the Bills young players will improve more than other teams'...but it's pretty tough to think the Bills are better than their opponents because our guys will improve and their guys won't.

It's also worth noting that Willis was a different runner in his first year as a starter. He'd plow over people, lay them out with stiff arms and get tough yards. He ceased doing that once his knee was near 100%. I'd still like the guy if he ran like he did that first year. Unfortunately he doesn't. Though, I will admit that after seeing Willis for a few more years he's no better at blitz pick up and catching the all than Henry was. It's kind of interesting that you'd bring this thread back up as if to show how right you are. Henry a top 5 back? What a joke.
-
Unless one or both, by some miracle, falls out of the first round I'd vote no on both.
-
Sure the OL could have done a better job blocking but Willis compounded the problem and made it look much worse by dancing instead of putting his head down and plowing through the hole (you know, like he did with an even worse line 3 years ago). Willis just isn't anything more than an average back and creating a million threads siting all the ridiculous things people say won't change that.
-
Yeah, that was my impression too. Not only that but when I watched OSU play 4-5 times this year it was always Gonzalez that made the big catch/play in the passing game when the Buckeyes needed it, not Ginn.
-
The Bills only get a 3rd round pick if someone is idiotic enough to sign Anderson. That isn't going to happen. Anderson will be a Bill next year.
-
The guy who made that video spells as well as Willis speaks.
-
His QB was better than he was.
-
So I guess this is his admission that he didn't know the plays last year?
-
To be fair, the Bills haven't made the media eat their words in the past, oh, 7-8 seasons. Lots here bash the media every year when they predict the Bills will suck or they won't go to the playoffs and yet every year the media ends up being right.

NFL Radio said Bills & Lions are front runners for Chris Brown....
MDH replied to Tom's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No, Brown was the starter and then (surprise) he got hurt and Travis took over as the workhorse back. Travis did, however, put up better numbers than Brown ever has. -
Did you bother to look up the fact that no files were charged in a criminal court because the DA couldn't find a single piece of evidence? Anyone can say anything they want it doesn’t mean that Lynch is guilty. That being said, I don’t want a RB in round 1.
