  1. It looks like he'll be assigned #1.
  2. The sports talking heads should be all over this and it does bring attention to the Bills.
  3. Video's of a Drew Rosenhaus, Donte Whitner, Herm Edwards and others discuss this signing. You'll find the video's at the end of the page.
  4. The guy is 29 so if he's healed up he's still fairly young for an OL. It seems like a little to lose a lot to gain type signing.
  5. This goes a long way to curb the number of blitzes TE should see. With Owens on the team now he has a second great option to use and teams may be worried about giving up too many yards of they blitz too often.
  6. I added the second question because I think it may influence a FA's mind in coming here. T.O.'s signing can be viewed by potential FA's as a sign Buffalo will make the playoffs next year and they want to be on a winning team. It could also turn off some potential FA's because of his attitude and locker room presence or it won't matter at all. I'm leaning very slightly to it will help them.
  7. Linky NFL notes: Changing numbers often comes with a steep price tag Keith Rivers wore No. 55 at Southern California, where the number has been passed from one prominent linebacker to another. When the Bengals made him the ninth overall pick in the draft, he had to get a new one. Linebacker Ahmad Brooks already had 55, so Rivers got No. 58 for preseason games. When Brooks was released after the final preseason game, Rivers claimed his old number. It came with a steep price tag: roughly $10,000. When a player makes such a change, he has to pay for the inventory of jerseys with his old name or number. Receiver Chad Ocho Cinco ran into the problem when he legally changed his surname before the season opener. The league ruled that he had to keep "Johnson" on the back of his jersey until he takes care of the problem. Rivers estimated that it cost him between $9,000 and $10,000 to buy up the inventory of his old No. 58 jerseys. He'll donate them to charity. To Rivers, it was worth it. "It was important, but I wasn't sulking because I didn't have it," Rivers said. "I'm just happy I got it. I'm not very superstitious, but guys who have had No. 55 and kept it have done well." At USC, the number has been passed from Junior Seau to Willie McGinest to Chris Claiborne and to Rivers, who wanted to keep it in the pros. "It's just something that's been special to me," Rivers said.
  8. T.O. goes a long way in helping TE stay healthy. He makes it more likely the defense will get burned with blitzes. I think you'll see a lot fewer blitzes this year because of T.O. JMO
  9. IIRC, the NFL charges a huge penalty fee for changing numbers because of all the merchandise already made with JH being #81. It may not happen at all.
  10. It's a one year deal and T.O. will have to play nice or never be signed again. I would be totally against this deal if it wasn't for length of the contract. I really think this will keep him in line. If he's smart he'll realize he needs to go out with a favorable public opinion to help his HOF chances. The $6.5 million dollar contract is less than Housh's and Coles deals. If they had given him a multi-year deal then I think the chances of backfire would be much greater. His chances of being a distraction on a multi-year, IMO, would be 75-25. Since it's a one year deal 25-75. JMO The contract is the only reason I don't hate this deal and like it now. Edited to add second question.
  11. Well, this should shut the "Bills never do anything" people a reason to STFU.
  12. Stang you need to learn how to quote multiple posts into one thread.
  13. I was getting a headache thinking about this but the one year deal is genius. Owens is playing for his future. This is his last chance to show the NFL he can play nice. If he becomes an A-hole like he was on every other team then he's shooting himself in the foot for ever getting another NFL contract. This could turn out to be a very good move.
  14. From The Tennessean article linked above. Asked if the Redskins tampered, Haynesworth said: "I don't think so. Yeah, Chad told me he met with the Redskins at the combine, but they were talking about Malcolm and how he could become the next Andre Johnson and stuff like that. "All I know is the Redskins called my agent at 11:04 Nashville time and they started negotiating then. They weren't anywhere close in the first couple of hours and then they got serious. Chad worked the deal then and it worked out.'' Oh Albert you're not helping the Redskins defense.
  15. Albert Haynesworth-DL- Redskins Mar. 7 - 11:14 am et The Tennessee Titans continue to seek evidence to support a claim that the Redskins tampered in their signing of Albert Haynesworth just five hours into the free agent signing period. Rumors were rampant that the Redskins had a deal in place before the signing period began, fueling speculation that they started negotiating before they were allowed to by the league. Haynesworth maintains that was not the case, however, and it will be difficult to bring any charges unless the Titans can present some evidence. Source: The Tennessean Well this is interesting.
  16. The contracts of Derrick Dockery, Lee Evans, Jason Peters (soon) and Aaron Schobel, IMO, prove that statement wrong. *The Bills won two consecutive AFL titles in 1964 and 1965. 1966 - 9-4-1 (Hosted Championship Game) 1967 - 4- 10 1968 - 1-12-1 1969 - 4 - 10 1970 - 3 - 10 - 1 1971 - 1 - 13 1972 - 4 -9 - 1 1973 - 8- 5 1974 - 9 - 5 (Made Playoffs as a wild card) 1975 - 8- 6 1976 - 2 - 12 1977 - 3 - 11 1978 - 5 - 11 1979 - 7 - 9 1980 - 11 - 5 (Made Playoffs) 1981 - 10 - 6 (Made Playoffs) 1982 - 4 - 5 (Strike Shortened Season) 1983 - 8-8 1984 - 2 - 14 1985 - 2 - 14 1986 - 4 - 12 1987 - 7- 8 1988 - 12 - 4 (Made Playoffs) 1989 - 9- 7 (Made Playoffs) 1990 - 13 - 3 (Went to Super Bowl) 1991 - 13- 3 (Went to Super Bowl) 1992 - 11 - 5 (Went to Super Bowl) 1993 - 12 - 4 (Went to Super Bowl) 1994 - 7 - 9 1995 - 10 - 6 (Made Playoffs) 1996 - 10 - 6 (Made Playoffs) 1997 - 6 - 10 1998 - 10 - 6 (Made Playoffs) 1999 - 11 - 5 (Made Playoffs but lost on the homerun throw forward play by the Titans) 2000 - 8 - 8 2001 - 3 - 13 2002 - 8 - 8 2003 - 6 - 10 2004 - 9 - 7 2005 - 5 - 11 2006 - 7 - 9 2007 - 7 - 9 2008 - 7 - 9 So the Bills won two AFL championships, went to the playoffs 13 times and 4 consecutive Super Bowls, so how you come up with 40 years of bad teams I don't know. ** Nobody knows whether the Bills will be leaving or not. Jim Kelly has vowed that he will do everything he can to keep the team in Buffalo. I don't see them leaving in my lifetime. The problem is that some fans only have negativity. They can't see the things the Bills have done right and piss and moan about everything. That gets annoying very quickly and that's why there is a backlash against them. If someone is both positive and negative they are much less likely to get jumped on. JMO
  17. does OBD have the guts to bring T.O. for a visit?? Yes or no, have you stopped beating your wife? This is a loaded question. If you say yes then you're saying they have guts but you're ignoring the fact they would be really stupid to even bring him in. If you say no then you're saying they have no guts but you're ignoring the fact it's really smart to pass on him. Bad poll. JMO

  19. The families of missing players give up search. (CNN) -- The family of an NFL player that had vowed to continue the search for him and two other boaters missing off the coast of Florida announced Friday that they are giving up. "Thursday at 5 p.m., we received new information on the events of last Saturday and decided to discontinue the search for Marquis," Bruce Cooper, Marquis Cooper's father, said in a written statement. "We want to thank everyone in Arizona, Tampa, and all over the United States for their thoughts, well-wishes, prayers and volunteer efforts on our behalf. We especially want to thank the members of the U.S. Coast Guard, the U.S. Air Force, and the Florida Fish and Wildlife agency for their extraordinary and courageous efforts to rescue Marquis and his friends." Oakland Raiders linebacker Cooper, NFL free agent Corey Smith and William Bleakley, a former college football player, went missing after their fishing boat capsized Saturday. Authorities think the boat flipped as the men tried to lift anchor. The Coast Guard rescued one man, Nick Schuyler, on Monday but called off the search Tuesday, saying that any other survivors would have been found by then.
  20. "H2o hates black people". He also thinks he's psychic.
  21. They're supposed to be unfounded dimwit. H2o is responsible for Katrina flooding.
  22. Thanks that's cool. It sounds like they are going for the pop in the cancer cells here and it sounds very plausible.
