Steely Dan replied to Steely Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It would be nice to see people give an opinion as to why they voted the way they did. Especially the person who voted D+ -
Jeez! You're not kidding here's the Jerksonville signings so far. They do know that only 80 guys can be brought to camp I assume? Grade the Bills Draft And UFA Signings!

Well someone voted no on the Beerball question so we know Beerball voted. -
Mike Hunt?

I'm going B. The first five picks were great but the last three were mystifying to me. They didn't take on DT in the whole draft and only picked one up as a UFA. I also voted yes on the Beerball question.

I think this dude might be converted to FB. JMO 7 receptions for 52 yards and no TD's. Travis McCall (TE) Height: 6'2" Weight: 276 College: Alabama Conference: SEC Hometown: Prattville, AL High School: Prattville Overview Considering McCall typically lined up as Alabama's second tight end and a blocking specialist, some were caught off guard when he received an invitation to the Senior Bowl. With few traditional fullbacks and blocking specialists at tight end slated for the 2009 draft, however, the invitation made sense. A recipient of only 24 receptions despite playing in 51 career games, McCall's value lies in his ability to put defenders on their backs - a talent that could earn a late-round draft selection. High School Signed with the Tide in 2004, but fell thousandths of a point shy of qualifying. As a prep senior he played tight end and defense. He was a 6A All-State pick while helping Prattville to the quarterfinals of the state playoffs. He was also selected to the Birmingham News Super Senior list. He was rated the nation's ninth-best tight end by Rivals.com and the 19th-best overall in-state prospect by Superprep Magazine.

Gotta love that it's a totally different outfit and with his wabbit!

Who? There are three guys being talked about here. If he had a deal in place with the Jests I wonder how the Bills got him?
-
This site is really good for UFA signings.

Can they have two OT's named Bell on one team?
-
Other than the 59th at his position comment there is absolutely nothing else. This is a bust his butt overachieving type guy that professionals don't believe can make it at the pro level. A lot of those guys have proved the experts wrong. If he doesn't make it, it appears that it won't be for lack of trying. The perfect underdog to root for. Height: 6'2" Weight: 287 lbs

That site comes up with a red McAfee warning. A perfect score on the SAT and ACT! That girl is gonna go far in life!

Linkage I'm cautiously optimistic. I've been so unhappy the past three years when the season ends. I've predicted playoffs every year and so maybe if I say they won't make the playoffs I'll reverse the curse

Bills Daily gives Bills C- grade...

Are the teams now contacting undrafted players
Steely Dan replied to K-No's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
All I ask is $50,000 and that you name your first born after me. -
The grades you see now are merely based on perceived value of the draft and how they filled needs. At the very least he's very good depth. I thought I owned a pair of his jeans.
-
As you said Smith is a boom or bust pick. I didn't want the Bills to take him if he was at #11. I think there's a good chance he'll be their Mike Williams. As for Cushing, if he doesn't miss at least five games due to injury this year I'll be very surprised. I forget where I read this but it was pointed out that quarterbacks who come out as juniors have a very high bust rate. I think Sanchez has "Bust" written all over him. If the Jests don't sit him for a year before starting him the bust chances multiply quickly!!! Al Davis has gone senile. Passing on Crabtree was mystifying. PUNCH!!! I agree. The Pets* have the best drafting strategy of all the teams. They always seem to have at least two first round picks in every draft as well as compensation picks. They don't sign a lot of free agents and build through the draft. Every team could learn from their strategy. Baltimore also does very well by building their team through the draft too. They always get a slew of compensation picks. Once Buffalo builds a playoff team I hope they go to that strategy. The problem with the Bungles draft is that they spent a very high first and third on players with questionable desire to play. Also Michael Johnson is a huge injury risk IMO. They may be crying about this draft in a couple of years. What! No Bills!!
