  1. 1. LW is a smart guy and tries not to lie, he know his capabilities and that he's going to have a lot of problems at LT 2. They talk about LW being at 345 if he's anywhere close to that weight I'd be ecstatic, last year he played at 380+
  2. Wow-Derrick Burgess- Had 16 sacks in 2005 - and I couldn't even think of the position on defense he played or for what team.
  3. Of course that would make Philly stupid not Peters. While I'm amazed at the money professional athletes make the dollar per talent ratio seems more reasonable than some others in the entertainment field- Oprah, Beck, Stern, Limbaugh, Springer make huge money and to me seem hardly brilliant or talented- I sometimes think the key to making big money has more to do with having delusional opinion about yourself combined with an utter lack of shame then any smarts or talent.
  4. I saw Bell a little in last years training camp and preseason and was impressed with his ability to mirror and move his feet- I had high hopes for him this year, in the weeks before they traded Peters I heard a huge amount of positive talk about Bell from 1 Bills drive then after the Peters trade nothing, so I have to wonder if the Bills were just blowing smoke or something- if anyone has seen Bell this training camp and has an assessment I'd love to see it.
  5. you are correct but I remember talk about how he would start off at RT and in a couple years after the Bills coaches whipped into shape that he would move to LT- that talk changed to maybe his best position might be guard after a couple seasons.
  6. The book on McKinnie was great pass blocker but only a fair run blocker- the book on Mike Williams was that if he got his hands on you it was all over- the rest of the book was that he was top heavy, had problems with speed rushers- McKinnie had some sketchy college off-field incidents and Williams was labeled as immature. Neither player has lived up to the hype- at the time of the draft I wanted McKinnie because he had the better skills to play left tackle but thought at least they got a offensive lineman- it should be noted that at the time of the pick the Bills big focus was to build a power running game.
  7. Hey I learned a new word and this is the last place in the world I thought that would happen.
  8. Parrish needs to get the ball with a lot of room because one hand on him and he's done, that is the big difference between him and Welker, Welker can run through some arm tackles. and he should maybe shut up because with T.O and Nelson this is the first year in a long time where the Bills have a good chance of clearing out the underneath routes, If Parrish could make a couple of big plays as a WR as well as a punt returner his trade value might go from a 4-5 to a 3rd.
  9. If Maybin is a bust at DE I don't think it will be because of lack of heart - it will be because of lack of size especially the oft mentioned power plant- but it's really hard to judge, because Maybin is two or three years younger than other Bills rookies so he might have more growth potential- I think he's around 250 now so he might eventually be able to maintain 270.
  10. 1. I agree with Joe D that there has been a good track record of guards playing well their rookie year. 2. Physically when 100% Peters is a top 5 LT- now all the buts- he been injured at the end of the last two seasons, football is a game of passion and Peters definitely didn't have passion last season was it just a screw you Bills type thing or will it go on the rest of his football career, maybe this year for Philly he plays like his hairs on fire and next season he's going at 80% playing like a middle of the pack type guy, his weight 350lbs is a lot of weight for a 6,4 guy even if it's mostly muscle I liked his play better at 330 I question the obsession with getting as big as possible so many of the DE's you're going against are in the 245-265 weight range is it really necessary to outweigh them by 90lbs. 3. The money- this was the least convincing argument to me because these deals always seem outrageous at first then in a year or two seem normal and in 3 years seem kind of cheap. 4. Where does this leave us- It use to be I felt pretty good about the OTs and thought the interior sucked, now I feel pretty good about the interior and have grave concerns about the OTs .
  11. Levi Jones has had a string of injuries that has deteriorated his play quite a bit- now with off season surgery and rehab he could regain most of his ability or not so he is a risky choice- the problem for the Bills is that all the really good players tend to be out of our price range which only leaves risky choices- the guy who's a little old, coming off injury, hasn't proven himself as a starter and so on.
  12. the most concerning area for me is OT , I really don't like what they are doing there but on the flip side if they are adequate then I feel that the Bills will be competitive for a playoff spot. the front 7 as a whole, while I could point at Kelsay or Ellison the whole unit lacks a desirable size/athleticism ratio. Of course if say Maybin is a superstar and Bowen or Harris prove to be a substantial upgrade over Ellison then we are having a different conversation.
  13. The Book on Mike Williams coming out of college was if he got his hands on you, you were done, but also that he was overweight, top heavy, had poor change of direction, was slow out of his stance, and lacked killer instinct. He was what he was so why be mad at him- do you get angry at your mule because it's not a racehorse, that bad pick was on the Bills that's who you should be angry with if anyone-player who are virtually without flaw are rare they might only come along once every 3-5 years and they are gone in the first couple picks. So mostly teams are looking for good players with correctable flaws or at least flaws that can me hidden in their system- all these projections ( with a pro training regiment, with the right techniques, when he matures, when he heals, and so on) are both art and science and we simply haven't had the most talented guys who can project talent lately, I really, really miss Bill Polian.
  14. Walker was an average type RT for us - you know, better than 15 RTs worse than 15 RTs and tied with one RT- at LT he'll be in the bottom 5, not a joke but not very good, kinda like Ellison at LB- I'm more concerned with Brad Butler at RT, Butler has the potential to be the worse starting RT in the NFL, I've just seen no athletic qualities from him that give the vaguest suggestion that he can play in space in the NFL.
  15. I'll tell you what annoys me about Billistic , I'm going for the title of most negative Bills fan and I don't need the competition- Damn rookies always trying to steal your job.
  16. Yes he was our most consistent lineman last year- because our interior sucked and Peters decide to give the Bills a big FU, still he was an average RT that's it - He's gonna be a below average LT and Butler athletic ability looked sub-par for guard he's gonna be a horrific RT, keep Walker at RT and do what you can at LT, at least you will know where to give help and which way to roll out.
  17. The frustrating thing is the Bills are not that far away from being a legit playoff contender- a LT and a DT- before they traded Peters all I heard about is D Bell - D Bell has great athletic qualities for LT, D Bell has really improved his strength, D Bell is working really hard- after Peters is traded it's like who is this D Bell you speak of- I have to assume the whole thing was blowing smoke- as for DT the Henderson tease was really a kick in the nuts, a rotation of Stroud, Henderson, Williams, McCargo would be our best since the Sam Adams Pat Williams days.
  18. Brad Butler said Chris Kelsay is so good it's going to get him ready for anything he's gonna face- if only the Bills offense could go against the Bills defense every game we'd make the playoffs for sure,
  19. I've decided this Brad Butler to RT must just be a courtesy type thing you throw a hard worker before you make him a backup.
  20. Are the Bills a better team now than 2008? No right this second they are worse overall- their plan for Offensive tackle is a disaster, it nullifies every thing else positive they have done on offense- it gives the Bills the worse pair of offensive tackles in the NFL- for the love of Mike leave Walker at RT and deal with LT with Levi Jones, or D Bell , or even Chambers- even if those guys suck at least you know where to give help and you can roll-out right. On a lesser complaint they still need one more big good DT in the rotation - the Dline got pushed around like Christmas shopping carts when Stroud wasn't in there
  21. Read this today " “The biggest challenge is more about athleticism and speed,” Butler said. “It’s going to take some time to get used to that. But what’s great is that I’ve got (defensive end Chris) Kelsay to go against every day, and he practices hard, and ultimately the way I’ll make the conversion to tackle is by working hard in practice and he’s going to expect that out of me every day, and I’m going to expect that of him.” I take back all the mean things I said about Butler, if he can hold up against a superstar like Kelsay then he will be an pro-bowl RT for sure.
  22. I just don't understand the thinking at one Bill drive, the plan to move Walker to LT and Butler to RT is just stupid - why screw up two positions when you can just screw up one, Walker is an adequate RT why make him into a pi$$ poor LT and Brad Butler at RT is a joke- Better options 1. Levi Jones at LT Walker at RT, 2. Tra Thomas at LT Walker at RT, 3. D Bell at LT Walker at RT, 4. Walker at LT and Chambers at RT (at least Chambers has played at OT recently). The thing that is maddening with the Bills isn't trading Jason Peters, it seemingly to have no intelligent backup plan to the LT position- Walker to LT and Butler to RT is just stupid, lazy, and cheap. The Bills seem bent on nullifying all the good moves they have made on offense - but this is the Bills history, have a QB who is best at throwing deep (Bledsoe) lets take away all his deep receiving threats and make him into a dink and dunk QB, got a QB who is best rolling out (Losman) lets make him into a pocket QB, got a QB who is smart but a little fragile (Edwards) lets make sure he gets hit a bunch of times. Did Wilson make a pledge that no Bills QB will play as well as Jim Kelly while he is still alive?
  23. Brad Butler? I'm mystified as to what physical qualities Brad Butler has that would suggest anything but the worst starting RT in the NFL, he is stiff, slow, and lacks lower body strength- Walker at LT and Butler at RT has to give the Bills a place in the bottom 3 for NFL team's starting OTs. If you disagree give me three worst starting OT pairs.
