  1. If they cut him now they can roll his $4M into 2016. This according to John Murphy last night. <<< This should tell you two things - exercise for the reader.
  2. Orton has had a better career than Cassel by a decent margin. I really think this comparison (or lack thereof) has been a lot of the basis for the ill-informed Cassel-love, such as it has been. People just assume he's another Orton - he's not. Orton > Cassel - the career stats are pretty clear on this. It would not have been a wash from last season.
  3. Sullivan should really stop discussing subjects he knows nothing about - like football, for instance.
  4. For a company man I think John Murphy does a heck of a job and isn't afraid to point out issues with the team. Agree with others that Dunne is off to a good start. Sal Maiorana Leo Roth I don't recall having a problem with Bucky Gleason yet. Agree Carucci really seems to have lost a step - almost nothing (anything?) he's tried to speculate has come out. I think he's lost all his connections at OBD.
  5. True - on the other hand, we're still waiting for Cassel to finish his drills from 11 years ago... Really good point - if Simms looks bad Thursday night, they may feel compelled to hang on to Cassel.
  6. OBD did! But you're right - I doubt he showed anything a team would give up a pick for. One downside to him only getting 4 drives in preseason. Not JUST money - a ROSTER SPOT!! Simms can go to the P/S. That's huge when they have so many tough cuts to figure out. Say what? In 2014 there were only about 8 QB's in the league worse than Cassel has been the last 5 years, and he's been worse than that the last 2 seasons
  7. "said Bills all along only wanted to carry 2 qb's + practice squad" Which would be like nearly every team in the league - nobody keeps 3 on the roster anymore if they can help it.
  8. I'm picking 11 in a non-PPR league. Passing TDs are a full 6 but there's still 1/10 yards rushing. Almost certainly going to take RB's with the first two picks - wait a long time for the QB - I'm tempted to grab him a bit early. No other Bills fans, but we might have a few VT guys in the room.
  9. Correct - let's see how smart they are - many companies - and especially their lawyers - are often idiots.
  10. OK - my fantasy draft is tonight - running QBs are a good thing in fantasy, and TT has some of the better weapons in the league - I'm not saying he's that high a pick - is he a legit starter? QB2? Assume the draft is not in a Buffalo fan base.
  11. Of course not - he's been awful for 2 full years now and looks even worse this preseason. Why would anyone trade for a guy with no value and pay his 1st-round contract when he can be had for the minimum. Cousins just named the starter for week 1. Yes - he's a BUST.
  12. It's smart wording - he's telling everyone his guy had a roster spot on a team with one of the best DL's until a new guy everyone around the league is aware of showed up - implying to other teams Hudson would make their roster too.
  13. They are sooooo down on RG3 down here near DC and with his contract I can't imagine anyone trading for him.
  14. Yeah - I've just been assuming he's rusty from the injury/time off. Hope I'm right!!
  15. NO - there's a difference between reaching on a guy while skipping the obvious pick. There were tons of calls to take Wilson before and when Graham was taken. NOT the same thing as Brady. Same as Whitner over the obvious pick Ngata. Ngata's not some random guy we compared Whitner to - he was the guy everyone was calling for and expecting.
  16. Make sure you catch Manuel's (3rd qtr?) pass to Gragg on the left sideline - it was a thing of beauty - better than the TD throws.
  17. it's CAP MONEY we're worried about - it doesn't matter how rich Pegula is. And Cassel's throws in the first (Carolina) game looked about as noodle armed as they did last night - go back and review. I did, and he looked significantly worse my second look. Does it not bother you at all that in 2 preseason games AND the scrimmage, he has yet to lead a single scoring drive? When teams game plan for him, they will take those short throws away. Cassel is Kelly Holcombe 10 years later.
  18. Well, Cassel does have an 11-year career of fairly consistent (mediocre) stats we can extrapolate from.
  19. No, that was easily the best throw of the preseason by any of the QBs. And I'd still lean towards starting TT - but you have to give credit to Manuel - his good passes are far better than the other QBs best stuff and that one was perfection. If they start Cassel it's going to be tough to watch. His inability to put any heat on his short passes is going to get him picked off when teams watch film and game plan - a lot. He should have been pick-sixed once last night.
  20. Sully recently called Manuel the biggest draft bust in Bills history. You really think that's candor? He's the newspaper equivalent of an internet troll who somehow managed to get paid for it because the News cynically thinks negative publicity is better than nothing.
  21. Simms has P/S eligibility so yeah - Cassel is wasted money and wasted roster spot
