  1. The problem with that math is, I'm pretty sure Losman is Fitz with a better arm. Maybe Fitz is smarter though, so I'll give you that.
  2. I'm predicting 5 picks, myself. Do none of the Fitz-fans here understand the difference between the Miami/Green Bay defenses, and the Pats defense? #4 and #5 vs. #27. Pat's have serious pass defense issues - that was known going in. At that, 23 points of offense is nothing to get too excited about. Those two INT's were BAD, btw. Fitz is Fitz - gutsy yes, but not so capable of putting the ball where he means to.
  3. Suddenly they are playing one of the worst defenses in the league instead of two of the best - but that's a bit too much analysis, I suppose? Man are some of the fans here going to have "Fitz" when they see Mr. Magoo toss 5 picks against the Jets. I don't disagree that Edwards had lost it and was not the answer, but people who think the rest of the offense was doing better only because of Fitz are in for a rude awakening.
  4. THIS #1) Pats by far worst defense we've seen. It's not even close between them and the Pack and Fish. #2) Fitz played the way he plays - moved in the pocket and made mostly good fast, aggressive decisions, but doesn't have the basic skill of accuracy to consistently turn those decisions into results. The Nelson pick was actually a really bad decision - three defenders there - there must have been a better option than that. Bottom line - going into the season, if we had a good QB on the roster, it was Edwards - but that was IF Gailey was able to get his mind right. The Dolphins game, more that Green Bay, showed that wasn't going to happen, so now we know we don't have a good NFL QB for sure, and won't this year.
  5. Unfortunately, what you list as an afterthought - ACCURACY - is, in fact, the #1 qualification for NFL QB's, and largely what seperates them from the majority of NCAA QB's. I'll still be pulling for him - but based on the number of 3 and outs he generated with wild throws last season, I don't hold out much hope.
  6. Actually, the difference is JP played behind a better line - he just did dumb things. Trent didn't have 4 seconds back there. Having said that - before Dick Jauron's staff had some time to "work their magic" on our offense, Losman was the 11th rated QB in the NFL. As with Edwards, there's no telling what permanent damage was done to Losman by the lack of an offensive spine to actually win the game instead of the Jauron-style "play not to lose". What does seem true to me is that the only clear difference between Losman and Fitz is that Losman is a better athlete with a better arm. If we've given up on Edwards, there really is no compelling reason not to pick up Losman instead of Fitz.
  7. Well, he certainly played MUCH WORSE against the Dolphins than against the Packers. In addition to the final plays of each game - a hopeless one against Green Bay vs. a play where there was a chance against Miami, there's also: 1. Nothing Trent could do behind that OL with those WRs would have won the Packers game. Making a couple of plays anywhere when the opportunites arose would have won against the fish. 2. The two picks against the Packers were not Trent's fault. There were two bad passes he made against Miami that should have been picked off for TD's and weren't. 3. Edwards was getting destroyed by superior pass-rush talent at Green Bay that the OL was failing against in 1v1 matchups. Against Miami, he rushed throws he didn't have to, and failed to make pre-snap adjustments at the line when there were obvious overloads.
  8. And ACCURACY is the NUMBER ONE qualifier for an NFL QB. Unless Fitz has improved his accuracy dramatically since last year, he is no better than a bad backup. Trent doesn't force the ball or have the right pocket sense to handle this OL, but Fitz frequently just plain misses the target, even when it's to a wide-open player - not that we've got many of those. He may do well if he's better at audibling out of bad plays - something it seemed (though hard to tell from our position as fans) like Trent wasn't doing well enough in pre-snap reads to get out of bad situations - or hang tough when the blitz wasn't on, for that matter.
  9. First two paragraphs make sense. Last comment about Vick stopped making any sense when Kolb got hurt - sorry, we're not getting Vick.
  10. Yup - because noone was open. They finally showed it on TV - what likely has been going on a lot.
  11. Well, the Cowboys part is more realistic as they have real problems on the O-Line - maybe even worse than the Bills. The Cowboys looked just as bad all preseason, and anyone who was paying attention would not have been picking them to go very far.
  12. FALSE Edwards' worst season still had him at a >70 rating. Sanchez was an amzazingly bad 63.0 last season. He really truly sucks. The Jets would be better off with Brunell OR Kellen Clemens for that matter. Sanchez will out of the league in four years - bank on it. He's worse than his predecessor at USC, Leinart. You need both. But Sanchez' failure even with a good line shows you how incredibly bad he is.
  13. If you listen to Nix's MMQB club talk you will know that they are considering Ulrik at ORT at some point - probably soon.
  14. First requisite for NFL legitimacy in a QB is ACCURACY. Fitz doesn't have it. He simply doesn't consistently hit the target, even when he's not under pressure. Sorry - sad but true.
  15. Oh yes - because the Shanahan/McNabb-led Redskins offense put up a whopping 6 points against the Cowboys and he was 15/32. Awesome - sure wish we had that kind of firepower! EIGHT OTHER NFL TEAMS SCORED EQUAL OR FEWER POINTS ON OFFENSE THAN THE BILLS!! The great QB's who were outscored this week by the Edwards-led Bills: Mark Sanchez Brett Favre Donavan McNabb Matt Ryan Aaron Smith Tony Romo Joe Flacco (matched us at 10) Dennis Dixon (pitt) (9pts in regulation - they did get a 50 yard TD run to add another 6 in OT) Correct me if I'm wrong, but are there not THREE former overall #1 draft picks on that list, and FOUR first-rounders total??
  16. And this is where you lose me. Why are the Pats trading us Mankins for essentially nothing + a third?
  17. I have no idea what you are talking about. Link? I heard Gailey repeatedly state that he chose the 3-4 because he found it the most challenging to go against as an offensive coordinator. I have NEVER heard Gailey or Nix say that the talent on the roster they inherited was better suited to a 3-4. That would be seriously weird btw, since it's been drafted to be a 4-3 under the previous 3 coaches. Big attacking Titans-style 4-3 under Williams, then later a small/fast Tampa style 4-3 under Jauron. Unless you're replacing Green.
  18. I seriously think they may wise up and bench the little twerp for Brunell at some point. Or Kellen Clemens for that matter - he really never got a fair shot, and showed a heck of a lot more than Sanchez.
  19. I'm not saying "no" automatically, but what do they have to spare that we want? Assuming we need OT, OLB, TE - who do they have someone on the bench that's an upgrade?
  20. Oh yes - it's soooooooo much fun watching a QB badly miss the target on 1/2 his passes.
  21. I'd rate him slightly higher than "marginal" as a Tampa-2 LDE, but other than that, this is the issue. He's a great team leader type, works his butt off, and has made some occasional spectacular plays as a result (the Dallas Monday night Pick-6 comes to mind), BUT A) He was badly overpaid for his overall performance as a LDE - not his fault maybe, but still irritating for us as fans - $6M/year needs to produce a lot more sacks and pressures from that position. B) He's not up to playing OLB - his lateral movement limitations were exposed repeatedly Sunday. I'm not hating him as a person when I say that his play against Miami was an obvious point of weakness. As Buddy Nix said of Cornell Green yesterday - "[buddy] saw the same game we did." There are some subtleties we can't pick up w/o studying the game film - but watching Kelsay nearly helpless to make a tackle in open space is easy to see with the regular TV view. Chris needs to find another Tampa-2 team if he wants to keep playing, and I'll wish him the best success if he does.
  22. You've lost me - are you saying you are currently able to evaluate the "hit ratio" of the Bills 2010 draft? Because that's the only one Nix has run so far.
  23. Oh really? What game did you watch last night? The media has been all over Sanchez for "looking scared", "checking down too soon", "not looking downfield", etc. IE - All the same stuff we complain - right or wrong - about Edwards. Sanchez may have been up against the Ravens' D, but that defense was very suspect in the secondary, and he was playing behind a MUCH better OL than the Bill.
