  1. Trying to sneak him onto the practice squad? Nobody's saying he's an immediate pro-bowler - just a good pickup to grab a young guy with some credentials, who, because he's not a corpse or a 5-year-old girl, can probably out-play Green. (I'm sorry if I've offended any 5-year-old badass girls out there with the comparison, btw)
  2. This video is MUST WATCH - you are so correct - G*D I LOVE BUDDY NIX!!!! He didn't say Ulrik was going to be the RT - but he sure left the door wide freaking open, and did so knowingly. He really did call Green out - I am amazed.
  3. Oh really? And then who is supposed to get the inside guy that is also outside the G? The one you are leaving unblocked between Levitre and Bell. There were THREE guys lined up on Levitre and Bell. Levitre took the one most inside, Bell took the next one. Standard procedure for as long as I can remember. One OL can't block two guys at once - not on the outside in space, sorry. I am not a Trent-basher, but that one was on the QB all the way - thought so at the time and the video confirms it.
  4. That's the best suggestion I've heard - it would only use 5-10 seconds which is a good deal for a shot at the first.
  5. Yeah - Barker's a bit over the top. No way that defense can be graded so low - and I totally don't understand anyone who has a problem with our D-line right now, they are plenty good for a 3-4 DL. We're two LB's short of a good unit. BUT Ellis looked damned good on his sack, as did Poz. Kelsay is a mess - if they're playing a 3-4 he needs to be let go. Overall the defense played pretty well - holding Marshall down and keeping Brown/Williams under some control. Even with our offense doing nothing the Dolphins O' only got 13. A team that does that is not the worst team in the league by far - sorry - look around at the box scores. WAS 13 DAL 7; NO 14 MIN 9; TB 17 CLE 14; PIT 15 ATL 9; CHI 19 DET 14; ARI 17 STL 13 Yeah - crazy as it sounds, our offense outscored 4 other teams this week. Ew.
  6. NOT I knew we had upgraded (at least a little) from Dick Jauron at the end of the first half when we were still trying to score. NFW Jauron tries to push the ball up the field for a long FG try. It didn't work - it won't always - but it will never work until you try, Dick.
  7. The main thing he changed was putting in the starting O-Line, 3 of whom were missing against the 'skins. Sorry - the starters, such as they are, were in yesterday - can't make the same fix.
  8. And to be clear Bell >>> Meredith. When OLT had a letdown it was usually because Bell was out. Even our hero Eric Wood was struggling - one early batted ball happened when he was shoved into the backfield - hey Bell and Wood are still working their way back from injuries, btw, so it's not "give up on them, draft new guys" time, but it may still take time to get them back 100% and both are still very young/green. Not to be confused with Green, who is just phenomenally bad. No, overall the OL did not play well enough - if the Fish were just "stacking the line against the run" there is no way they should have been able to bring so much pressure. It's also true Edwards could have handled it better - but how well did Henne do when our D got in his face? Not well - look at it again if you doubt.
  9. Agreed - the OL was the same we saw in PreSeason guys. Green is a nightmare - I'm amazed they couldn't find better. Bell is fine.
  10. I've thought he same thing - Bengals > Pats, Ravens >> Jets, Bills >> Fish. Pats and Jets are both home, though, right? - but here's hoping!!!
  11. Oh good grief. Moorman put up a 40-net LAST year. Lindell is way better than average. And the coveage was dramatically better against Detroit - it seems pretty obvious DeHaven had whittled down to the personnel he actually wants out there.
  12. We do. I don't understand the folks here who are still worried about our DL - that was a legitimate comcern in April - the preseason has made that look like a non-issue. Edwards-Williams-Stroud have looked damned good up there. Troup and Carrington have shown good promise. Remember - this is a 3-4 now - we're not looking for a bunch of sacks from the DL. The scary thing has been our LB's - they have shown very little.
  13. Yeah - that thing is idiotic - the sort of "technical icon that appeals to non-technical folks", I suppose. At some point the people who still think that represents "cool" will all be over 65 and hopefully Fox will give it up. As someone who does robot AI for a living, I find it really irritating and just plain boring-dumb.
  14. There are plenty of solid play-by-play guys, I don't think I have a favorite. In my opinion, Aikman is the best color guy by a good margin.
  15. Agreed. Though it's hard to imagine sweeping one and not being able to split with at least one other, but this year only - the Jets are begging for it.
  16. I'm believing that means we'll be seeing another 70-yarder to Evans!
  17. Thanks - These are screenshots from online video. Unless you work for the NFL, in which case I took them myself from the stands.
  18. Hehe - thanks - we'll make a Chan-Fan Optimist out of you yet, Barker!
  19. I have always been happy with DirecTV service - going on 20 years now - if only my recent house didn't have all of these damned trees to the South/Southwest!!
  20. Thanks - I'm glad you enjoyed it. Film study is really awesome stuff, and the digital age makes it feasible for non-professionals. I did a fair amount of it for my son's HS lacrosse team, and it was very informative.
  21. A few moments after the snap, you can see that because all three backs start lined up fairly far back, even though they are pass-blocking, their initial moves are all to charge forward - it still looks like a run play. Edwards adds to the affect with a play-action move. It's easy to see that both corners (and the safety in this backfield view picture) are still looking into the backfield expecting run. #93 Freeney isn't even heading towards Edwards - he's shooting down right along the back of the offensive line - probably looking to disrupt Spiller who he expects to be going there, but instead makes himself easy pickings for Stupar's block and is no threat at all to Edwards.
  22. Yes - it's Stevie Johnson, and he goes up about 10 yards then cuts straight across - he's wide open underneath for a 1st down - but I suspect the important part is he's "sweeping up" any players who might be in a short zone and making sure they stay short instead of following Evans. So true! Another thing you can see in the picture: the guy lined up over Evans at the first-down marker isn't looking at 83, he's looking at Edwards and the RB's. AND then if you look at Edwards (and I think Spiller too) he's looking right back at that DB, which makes me wonder if that's the pre-snap read Trent's making to decide to audible run or pass?! If he sees that guy focused on Evans, he gives to Spiller? The guy lined up on Stevie is also ignoring him and staring into the backfield.
