These kids aren't just idiots, they're spoiled, self-centered, and completely dismissing of both authority and any opinions or viewpoints other than their own. One of these days a group of these snotty little bastards are going to try pulling their "occupy" bullcrap on the wrong people, and will wind up with something truly worth being upset about. If Cruz isn't as far to the right as he plays himself off to be, then he's been putting up a convincing front for years. He was a TEA party favorite, after all. He also has very solid support from Texas conservatives (he has a lot of clout here for a junior Senator), but none of that precludes him from moderating his tone if he manages to win the party nomination. I'd be very surprised if he moderated anything more than his tone, though. As you say, he is indeed smart, and is skillful enough when he speaks to be convincing enough to overcome his snake-oil-salesman-like demeanor.

I'm not the least bit surprised that you don't know this, but as usual you don't let lack of knowledge stop you from bursting onto the scene and reminding us all that you're nothing more than a boisterous, drooling, buffoon.

That article also completely mischaracterizes the role of the Senate, claiming that it represents 'voters'. It does not - the Senate represents each state - putting every state on equal footing. They lose credibility in making such statements, because it means that they either don't know what the hell they're talking about, or that they're deliberately being deceptive.

The absolute lack of imagination and rational observation, coupled with your necessity to cling to tropes and mischaracterizations, make for a stunning display of stubborn stupidity.
