  1. I think it's just fine the way it is. Let all the "educated liberals" stay in the expensive, crime-ridden urban areas while all the non-educated, non-liberals enjoy the relative peace and prosperity of rural life and the suburbs. Perhaps if the city-folk relaxed the liberalism a bit and pulled their heads out of their smugly over-educated asses, they may not have as many problems to deal with anymore.
  2. Not only is that wildly inaccurate, I think it's awesome that your lead-in sentence is an accusation that Tom was using hyperbole.
  3. Can you just imagine how much worse they would have been had they been marching in heels?
  4. I would have chosen shopping for shoes. At least that would put her in a good mood, I'd be spending money that would have been spent on plane tickets anyway, and crowds at malls and stores don't irritate me like being stuck in a crowd of pissed-off women.
  5. Sorry, that makes way too much sense to ever happen.
  6. Okay, move along, nothing to see here. This thread has officially been Godwined.
  7. Oh, good grief - "why should you never play poker with a cattleman?" The whole PPP thing came about right after TSW had been wrested back from Rivals. I still remember when I logged in and saw that the bricks were back. Very shortly after that, an OT topic was posted on the wall by The Avenger which was based in politics - I don't remember what it was though. I do remember that about half of the respondents were into the conversation, and the other half were not, and stated their displeasure at having a political discussion on the board even though it was off-season. I spoke with Scott and offered to build a page designed specifically for political discussion. He was kind and patient, and did his best to mentor me in the fine art of web design, but I had no clue what I was doing. Finally, he built the page himself and allowed me to name it. The rest is history. I bailed after a few years, because it was just one big verbal scrum - there were a few people who seemed to know what they were talking about (TPS was a standout in those days) but for the most part it was just name-calling, and it got old real fast. I lurked for the better part of a decade before returning. It just doesn't seem like it's been 17 years, but looking back, all the time is accounted for. It sure as hell passes quickly.
  8. You raise steaks. For that, at least, you will always have my respect. Holy crap - I hadn't thought of that, but PPP is officially 17 years old. I remember "opening night" - the 2000 election. I went to bed after hearing that Al Gore had conceded, and woke up to find that an unholy %@#$storm had erupted. Ah, the good old days.
  9. Your presence has been virtually non-existent prior to the inauguration, and your topical material has mostly been how Hillary was so much more qualified than Trump. When you get disagreement, you call it "partisan attacks". Are you even aware that most Republicans here did not vote for Trump, nor do they support him? Just because so many here dislike Hillary and believe she was unqualified for the job, you appear to presume that equates with support for Trump. Had you been actually reading and not just "skimming", you'd probably be aware of that. And disagreement isn't abuse. You'll only get abused here if your case is weak and you double-down on it when called out. And remember - dialogue goes both ways; if you want to be taken seriously it will behoove you to reciprocate.
  10. Best laugh of the day so far!
  11. Those aren't breasts, they're Nixon jowls with really bad sag.
  12. Well, at least I'm not the only old-timer here.
  13. Remember when the left was all about peace and love?
  14. Very impressive. Nine memes, no relevance. I have to confess ignorance to the significance of the pentagram. Unless it's an inverted pentagram.
  15. Indeed. However, our representative republic requires a majority of electoral votes, a fact of which team Hillary should have been more aware. The election was hers to lose, and that's exactly what she did.
  16. Students are marching in down town Austin right now, some wearing ISIS-style head coverings to hide their identity, carrying signs with slogans like "save a human, kill a NAZI". It appears to be peaceful for the most part, but local news is reporting that things will pretty much be shut down starting at 5pm when the official protest starts out from Auditorium Shores and makes it's way up Congress to the Capital. Austin traffic is always a nightmare as it is at 5pm, and especially so on Fridays. This is really going to piss a lot of people off.
  17. For what it's worth, I always enjoy seeing all these partisan icons letting go of all the usual divisiveness and at least putting on an air of solidarity and civility as citizens. Seeing the Clintons, Bushes, Obamas, uncle Joe, Bob & Liddy Dole all warm smiles and handshakes is something I'd personally like to see more often. It ain't ever gonna happen that way under normal circumstances, but I'd like to see more of it.
  18. Setting him up for another "obfuscation with details"?
  19. Who's talking about deleting your posts? And what Trump supporters are you talking about? I can only think of two people who post here that I'd call "Trump supporters" - the bulk of the rest are simply anti-Hillary, which is by no means the same thing as being a Trump supporter. If you were being honest, I'd think you'd acknowledge that. We've barely heard a peep out of you over here for several years, while there's been plenty going on in the Obama administration worth criticizing. Why have you remained silent? Could it be that your partisanship is showing? There's still a little over an hour left before Trump even takes office, and you're already back over here just like you were in the GW Bush years, calling people hypocrites for not tossing out bitter tirades at the incoming administration, while you were every bit as silent while Obama held office. Tell me - who's being hypocritical?
  20. So you're saying that you smelt that one coming?
  21. I'd go batty working without any real break for that long. Treat yourself. Drink some beer. Build a guitar. Take a %$#@-ton of naps. If I spent that long amid Washington bureaucrats I'd have lost the last scrap of sanity I still have remaining long ago.
