  1. To each their own. I like having a physical keyboard, and everything works great for me. The Blackberry Pearl sucked for anything other email/SMS, but the Bold 9700 is great IMHO. I haven't had a chance to use any of the Android phones -- but if they had one with a physical keyboard, I'd consider it.
  2. On regular TV, no. But in Vegas, you can go to a sports book and watch any game you want.
  3. Book: Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut. He does more than just Slaughterhouse Five you know. Movie: Fight Club. Love the movie. I should probably read the book... Album: Scenes from a Memory by Dream Theater. Close second is Tyranny by Shadow Gallery.
  4. Apparently they suffer from lack of marketing if you don't know that the Blackberry is a communication/Web/Entertainment system.
  5. You should check out Shadow Gallery, especially "Tyranny" and "Room V" (in that order). Very Dream Theater-like, and both are intricate stories like Metropolis Pt 2 is. Both albums tie together too which is cool. James Labrie (Dream Theater) also has a part on Tyranny. The song "New World Order" (from Tyranny) won all sorts of awards. The band is great, but don't get a lot of recognition because they don't tour - they're purely a studio band (and all have real jobs ). Scratch that, it looks like they're doing a little bit of touring now... Unfortunately their lead singer recently passed away (heart attack), and I'm not a big fan of the latest album (Digital Ghosts) mainly due to the vocals. http://en.wikipedia..../Shadow_Gallery
  6. I didn't...
  7. Dream Theater. Scenes from a Memory is a masterpiece. So is A Change of Seasons. They're melodic and keyboard heavy in Images and Words, then change things up (with the same band members) to go heavy with Awake. Most people agree that they have one of the best guitarists (John Petrucci), drummers (Mike Portnoy), and bassists (John Myung) in the business. http://www.roadrunne...Time-20590.aspx http://www.ultimate-...st_bassist.html Yet despite their technical abilities, mainstream doesn't know who these guys are. (Kevin Moore, their keyboardist for the first three albums, went to SUNY Fredonia too. )
  8. Miro plays hockey, so I doubt he'd be a good linebacker....
  9. Companies (such as General Mills) hire food chemists to work this stuff out. I knew someone in college who went to work at General Mills as a chemist -- coming up with new flavors for products. Kinda cool.
  10. We'd tell you, but then we'd have to shiv you.
  11. You didn't need to type the city name, only the team.... Finished with 3:16 to go;didn't realize that you didn't need the whole city until halfway through myself.
  12. That's all well and good, but nobody attacked/flamed him until after he called everyone a jackass... It was constructive feedback before that. The only possible negative post was mine, and it was CLEARLY a joke (hookers and blow - along with shiv the mofo - are standards on the board).
  13. Surprised I haven't seen this answer posted yet... So I'll steal it for my own. Get the ring. Sell it. Use it on hookers and blow.
  14. I want to do that to him NOW. Stupid muttly.
  15. I earned $8/hr while in college and lived on it. I ate a lot of noodles, but I lived on it. But you're definitely right about the cell phone -- it's considered an "essential" expense nowadays which is ridiculous. If my company didn't provide the phone/service, I'd have a basic pre-paid phone for emergencies only... And I agree with the spoiled part. Kids don't want to live on their own when they can leech off of mom and dad. My sister's in her mid-20s, still going to school, and still living at home. She works full-time, should COULD afford her own place if she wanted to. When I push her on it, she says, "Why? I'm always at school or work anyway." She then blows her money on stupid crap instead of saving it up and paying down bills. Drives me crazy. Is it wrong to think that if I'm a parent, I'm kicking my kids out when they're 18?
  16. They ask you to make sure you weren't actually ordering the meal. You could easily be referring to the Whopper meal when you say, "Whopper with cheese and a Coke." Besides, would you rather they took what you said literally and gave you a Whopper with cheese and some Coke on top? That's what *I'd* do if you gave me attitude about confirming your order.
  17. Sorry, the test has already been done a long time ago. I present to you - The STINKY MEAT PROJECT! http://www.stinkymeat.net/ Read this YEARS ago. It's hilarious.
  18. And here's the big problem -- NOBODY has to pay $50k/year for tuition. NOBODY. For $50k, you can get the entire BA/BS from the University of MInnesota. I venture to guess the same is true for most/all state schools.
  19. You won't go back to a restaurant because you had to say, "No thank you" three times?!
  20. I think you misread my post - I don't work for Engadget (almost did, then AOL had money problems and cut the funding so they couldn't hire me ). I work for Neowin.net. Not sure about the iGoogle gadgets, I haven't heard anything but I've been a little preoccupied with school lately so I could've missed it... BTW - my Google self-driving car article officially has 10,000 hits!
  21. I hate your job, yes.
  22. So you hate your job now...?
  23. "Stubbornly high unemployment -- nearly 15% for those ages 20-24" Am I the only one that can't figure out why unemployment is 15% for ages 20-24, yet 85% of college grads move back home....? Shouldn't that number be closer to 15%....?
