  1. Is this the particle accelerator coming back to destroy itself....? Regardless, it's pretty cool.
  2. So your answer is to eat salad everyday for a month.....?
  3. http://www.walmart.com/search/search-ng.do...11&Find.y=8 Apparently no Buffalo Bills though.

  5. I have in-laws in eastern WI, and they all hate Thompson for various reasons. They spent a high draft pick on Brohm, who ended up on the practice squad while a 7th round pick beat him out in camp, for one. The Favre thing was another. I can't remember the other reasons.... We don't want him.
  6. I use one of these: http://www.amazon.com/PUR-DS-1800Z-2-Stage...8719&sr=8-3
  7. Caffeine may not fit the clinical definition of addiction, but that doesn't mean it's easy to stop - there are very serious (sometimes debilitating) side-effects with quitting, making it difficult. Sorry I used the layman's definition of addiction, instead of the DSM-IV's definition. Do you really have nothing better to do than to attack people? Seriously, grow up.
  8. Yeah, I don't understand people around here either. Whatever. A couple of interesting articles: http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/bb/neuro/neur...eb3/Howard.html http://www.ncpa.org/sub/dpd/index.php?Article_ID=13971 I just assumed it was addicting, due to people complaining about getting headaches and such from not taking it. So while it does have addicting qualities, it isn't technically addicting (at least according to one of the links). Interesting.
  9. Yes, caffeine is an addictive drug. But it seems most people on this forum don't believe in addictions. "Just don't do it," and wham, done. Glad it doesn't work that way in real life, or my wife, who runs a drug/alcohol halfway house, would be out of a job.
  10. I misread the deal I posted - I thought it was $500, but it's really $500 off... I thought it was too good to be true, since I just bought that laptop a couple of months ago myself for more than $500 If you're looking for performance and want to play games though, the HP rocks. The Acer has a MUCH worse processor (dual-core vs quad-core i7), a slower harddrive (5400RPM vs 7200RPM), a smaller monitor, less resolutino (1920x1080 vs 1600x900), etc. But it's twice the price, so probably not what he was looking for. Sorry about that.
  11. This looks to be a good deal: http://www.logicbuy.com/deals/hp-pavilion-...ndle/17130.aspx A little more than you were looking to spend, but you get a desktop-replacement laptop and a netbook for traveling. Nice.
  12. No - but there's a good chance I might have to fly there in the next year or two. And my point on the NJ trip was that when I hired on, I was told there wouldn't really be any travel - and two weeks later, I had to fly to NJ to be there for some meetings the next day. Driving/train wouldn't have been an option. So you can't say, "Flying is only for fun," because it's not always true.
  13. How do you take a car or train to India....? My job doesn't require much travel at all -- but two weeks after I started, I actually had to make an emergency next day trip to New Jersey. No other way to get there but plane.
  14. If you search for other photos of her, none of them look anywhere near as good as the one in the article.
  15. That's one thing I've always found odd -- why don't people just drink straight water? Seems like everyone I know wants to add flavor to the water -- isn't the flavor of water good enough? I guess I should be happy that I like how normal water tastes.
  16. You don't have to fly for business?
  17. You missed one.
  18. And Scott asked whether people actually "struggle" to not drink it - the answer, as is the case with any addition, is YES.
  19. You should start another thread.
  20. No, that was udonkey. For all intents and purposes, both of those laptops are exactly the same. The one that costs $50 more has a slightly better video card, and it has a bit more disk space, but you won't be playing hard core games on either of them. If you want to store a lot of music on the laptop, spend the extra $50 and get that one due to the harddrive. Personally, I think you can do better for cheaper. Unless you need it right away, I'd just watch http://www.slickdeals.net for awhile until a better deal comes around.
  21. In addition, it looks like there's an entire empty row behind him.
  22. Game performance is generally based on the video card, not the processor. So again, whichever is cheapest.
  23. For your uses, the cheapest one would serve you best. Although I personally wouldn't buy a Gateway...
