  1. Ok, not sure how he can say that... I don't think it's for or against their best interest, it just exists. But hey. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/conten...ff8f5d35e8fc180 EDIT: After reading up on the subject a little more, what he's saying makes some sense. If all of the cable and Dish customers were able to subscribe to Sunday Ticket, then CBS and FOX wouldn't be willing to spend as much money for the contract -- because the local affiliates would be getting far less viewers than they do now. It's the reason the NFL forced DirecTV to black out games that were airing locally -- so that local networks could get their advertising revenue. The fear is that if everyone had Sunday Ticket, the local affiliate revenue would plummet as people watched different games than the one or two aired locally. Makes sense when you look at it that way.
  2. The review says it's more funny than anything. My wife and I were thinking of a book that talks about stuff you need to do and why... And then has a maintenance schedule like you get when you buy a new car, so you can check things off when you complete them. "Year 0, month 1: Replace furnace filter" ... "Year 0, month 9: Replace furnace filter, empty and clean water heater, oil garage door springs." ... "Year 0, month 12: Replace furnace filter, clean air ducts, inspect furnace." Something like that.
  3. You're wrong. Mr. Rogers wins. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwBK31tC5QM
  4. He replaced 'em both. He also explained where to spray the WD40 -- I had never done it in 7.5 years, but now I know. They really need a "new home owners" book that talks about what routine maintenance you're supposed to do around a house... If they don't have one yet, I should write it... If I knew what to do!
  5. You forgot the 'led us to our two best records this century, and only winning season of the century," as well.
  6. Hey all - me again. I might have a chance to trade Colston for Ray Rice in a keeper league. What do you think? My roster: Phillip Rivers and Kurt Warner, QBs Knowshown Moreno, Steven Jackson, Fred Jackson, Reggie Bush, Rashad Jennings, RBs Roddy White, Colston, Pierre Garcon, Terrel Owens, WR Tony Gonzalez, TE This is a keeper league, and I can keep 4 players. The lineup is 1 QB, 2RB, 2WR, 1 TE (1 K, and 1 defense, which I left off). Thoughts?
  7. Chef's explanation sounds right. I order so much from Amazon that it makes sense to buy the Amazon Prime service and split it with my "family" members. $20/year for free 2-day shipping (only only $4/order to get overnight in a pinch) is definitely worth it. CW
  8.
  9. I was working from home -- VPNs are your friend (or enemy, depending on how you look at it). Dan was right on - cost me $170 to get it replaced. However, this one is supposed to last 20-30 years, and has a lifetime warranty, so that's good (depending on what the fine print of the warranty says, of course). I'm now at work, crisis averted
  10. I thought about that, but since we live in a townhome, the doors need to look the same and I don't want to go through the trouble. The guy called us back and said it'll be $169 to replace the springs -- not great, but they are 7.5 years old, so I guess... I'd like to replace the actual door opener as well - the builder used a cheap, noisy 1/3HP chain opener and everything I've read said it should be 1/2HP. Cheapass builder. I think I'd like the screw one as well, as it's supposed to be a little quieter and more reliable.
  11. Yeah, I tried that: "I pulled the string that's supposed to be the emergency release, and the door weighs about 100000 pounds and I can't move it more than an inch, and when I let go it SLAMS down..." That's why I think it might be a spring/tension issue of some sort.
  12. Wouldn't I still be able to pull the emergency release and open the door manually though? I'm thinking it's a tension thing with the springs, since I can't lift it and it slams down HARD when I try doing it manually.
  13. So I woke up this morning, pressed the magic garage door opener button, the door lifts a couple of inches, and then reverses and goes back down... I tried holding the button down as a "reset" (read that online), nothing... I tried helping it up when pressing the button, nothing... I pulled the string that's supposed to be the emergency release, and the door weighs about 100000 pounds and I can't move it more than an inch, and when I let go it SLAMS down... I'm stuck! We did hear a loud noise in the house last night and didn't know what it was. I wonder if it was some spring or something that broke. I never really looked very closely at our garage door opener to know what it was supposed to look like in a "good" configuration.
  14. I've been pointing this out for years in regards to wireless networks that people leave open. Nothing to see here.
  15. Rescued a 2 year old bichon frise/mutt mix from the shelter. He's ~21 pounds, so twice the size of a "real" bichon frise. Here's his picture before we had him groomed (he looks tiny here, but he's really not - just the angle): http://www.fezam.com/puppy.jpg Now he doesn't look quite as much like a dust mop. His previous owners had him pretty well trained - he knew a few basic obedience commands, and we've been working with him on improving it. He can do a 1-2 minute long "stay" command, even if we walk out of his sight. Very cool. He's also usually good at "drop it" and "leave it," which is nice. I'm not a huge dog fan (they're a lot of work...), but my wife loves him and I have to admit, he's pretty cool overall. Except when he barks because he wants attention.

  17. A couple of my employees are taking a few days off of work to play.
  18. I think you covered it all...
  19. I'm skeptical... I usually eat one side, then eat the other side, the pull the meat out from in between the bones. I guess I'll try it by removing the bone, but that just sounds like too much work with little benefit. We'll see though!
  20. You really pull a bone out...? I've never heard of that until this thread...
  21. Anyone in the market for a game system now, or for the holidays? WalMart has a great sale: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?...390952279983386 You pay $200 and get the Arcade and a $100 WalMart gift certificate. It was instore as well, although I'm sure they're probably all sold out now. The only difference between the Arcade and Pro version is that the Pro has a 60G harddrive. You can buy this instead and still come out way ahead: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-60GB-LIVE-S...5000&sr=8-6

  23. You know, you can still have a good show, even if you know the basic plot.... See this thread for proof http://forums.twobillsdrive.com/index.php?showtopic=99575
  24. I've only listened to the first CD once -- but I was pretty disappointed that they ripped off a Savatage song -- no changes at all from the original! That was rather weak, IMHO... (for those who don't know, TSO was a side-project for Savatage, but it became such a commercial hit that they have apparently given up on the original band... ). Can't wait to go myself -- 4th row, dead center on November 14th!
