  1. Gee, thanks for the geography lesson for the state I live in. When people watched the movie, general opinion was that everyone in the state spoke like that. Since over half of the population of the state lives in the Twin Cities metro area, that is blindly false. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fargo_%28film...opular_reaction http://www.city-data.com/forum/minneapolis...ike-people.html
  2. I never thought I had an accent. When I moved to Minnesota, I had many people tell me that they could tell I wasn't from the area because of my accent. I still can't tell the difference between Minnesotans and WNYers, but hey... And no, people don't say, "You betcha! For sure!" around here like they portrayed in Fargo...
  3. How is it rain fade if there's no rain....
  4. Why are these people having to bring their Macs into the shop...? I thought they never had issues....??? That's what the commercials say. (the above was typed on my 5 year old dual-Opteron home-built workstation that has never had an issue in ~5 years) That said, I can see how a warranty wouldn't cover it if the smoking is what causes the issue.
  5. You really have to specify what you're looking for in a camera. There's tons of different kinds -- compact point and shoot, regular point and shoot, advanced point and shoot, dSLR, etc. Do you want it to take snapshots? Do you want to make nice photographs? Is portability really important? Etc, etc, etc.
  6. Yup - and if he's on my team, that means all the women will be flocking to him... He gets one, I get the rest.
  7. First Round: Johnny Depp (even though I don't know what the purpose of the draft is for....)
  8. I only buy my equipment from Amazon (and make sure it's direct from them, not a reseller) and BHPhoto.com. Don't trust anyone else.
  9. But you didn't listen to the same album on a CD, now did you? Chances are it would've sounded the same (in my opinion ). Your Squeezebox plays compressed, lossy audio, so I wouldn't expect that to sound as good.
  10. We actually lived in the heart of the neighborhood -- in the area that was so bad, they crushed the houses into the basements, capped them off, and then put up a fence around the entire area. The worst part is that I didn't seem to even get any super powers from living on a landfill!
  11. We've already had this battle a few times in the past on this board, so I had to chuckle when I read a blog entry about the Bioshock 2 special edition -- it includes the soundtrack on both CD and vinyl: http://www.joystiq.com/2009/11/19/bioshock...yl-y-announced/
  12. I lived in Love Canal as a kid, so yeah...
  13. Probably nothing. Insurance companies don't pull your record all the time. I've had a couple of tickets and my rates have never gone up (one was 80 in a 65, the other was 75 in a 65 - when I was only going 69. ). Both tickets were in Minnesota, although I live in Wisconsin (right on the border), so maybe things are different in that case. Going to court can't make anything worse -- but from what I hear, you might get the cost down but the points will stay the same. YMMV.
  14. Agreed, although sometimes the front line folks can be jerks. One of my coworkers just called in about an issue he had, and while he was on the line asked about Versus and complained that he couldn't watch hockey. After going to customer retention, they ended up giving him Center Ice for free. And he just signed up a couple of months ago.
  15. Just call the main line and ask for customer retention.
  16. It was tied at 17 with 11 minutes left in the game. Not too shabby for a team with a S playing LB and an LG playing LT. Then the wheels fell off. Again...
  17. If you were paying attention, both TO and Reed were yelling at Tolbert. My guess is that it wasn't TO lining up incorrectly -- as he was even raising his hands in confusion presnap. My guess is that someone else was not where they were supposed to be, and TO was drawing attention to that and asking what to do. In the chat room, Brit said that the radio blamed Nelson for not being where he was supposed to be. I'm not sure if that was our radio, or if a station in the UK was doing play by play as well.
  18. I was going to bring my crappy point-and-shoot camera, but wasn't sure if Target Center would let me bring it in -- when we went to see Nickelback, they searched pockets... In hindsight, I should've brought it - would've had AMAZING shots, even with my crappy camera.
  19. Yeah -- and not just for her. The show itself rocked. When you're done with Firefly, go watch Serenity --- the show was spun-off into a movie which also rocked.
  20. She was way hotter on (RIP) Firefly.
  21. There's apparently a movie out (coming out?) that poses a moral question - you can press a button and get a million dollars, but someone in the world whom you do not know will die. Do you press the button? This is a spoof. It's pretty funny, I think. http://www.funnyordie.com/videos/44b3d8f43...tton?rel=player
  22. Just got back from the Minneapolis show -- it was AWESOME! We had floor seats, 4th row, center and right on the aisle - couldn't have asked for anything better!!! This was the first year they've been at Target Center and while I still prefer the Xcel Energy Center, this wasn't too bad either (they've spent millions upgrading the acoustics and it shows!). Angus and Al had great chemistry, and there was a lot more "funny" bits put into the first half of the show this time. They had a little "guitar battle" that was fun, and they even lowered the narrator's mic in the middle of the show and that got him into the act as well -- throwing his hands up, "yelling" at Al, etc. It was pretty funny. Only sad part was that Anna Phoebe is apparently doing the east tour this year... But the new girl held her own and did a great job - she was REALLY getting into it! I missed her name, but looking at the TSO site, it might've been Caitlin Moe. They did a great job getting the crowd involved too -- ran into the crowd a couple of times and a couple of times some of the performers when in the back of the auditorium on a much smaller stage, so that the people in the back could have a great view for a bit too. They also donated $7,200+ to a local charity. That's a nice touch. Overall, it was a great night - HIGHLY recommended! Did anyone here go to the Rochester show last night?? EDIT: Oh, after the concert we went out to eat at this restaurant that one of my wife's coworkers said, "Has really good wings, you should try them." Well, I was very skeptical, and asked the waitress if they were baked or fried. She looked surprised by the question and said they were fried. So I ordered them.... They were made PERFECTLY! Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, good sauce flavor but not swimming in it (could've been spicier, but hey). The only two negatives were that they give you the whole wing - including tips, and I'm pretty sure the "bleu cheese" was just salad dressing... But other than that, they were perfect! I think I may have finally found a good wing place in Minnesota... Except it's only on the appetizer menu! Weird...
  23. Garcon would fill in - but it is a drop from Colston. Looking like this trade may fall through -- he doesn't seem interested anymore.
  24. There's definitely problem solving going on during sleep. When I was in college, I would work on my CS homework until I was completely stuck. I'd then go to sleep, and as soon as I woke up, I knew the solution to the problem.
  25. I have no idea what you're talking about, but sure - I'll join.
