Um.....well, THAT'S not the first thought that came to mind, but now that you've mentioned it............. It IS rather busy, and you wouldn't be able to pick up the details on the helmet from a distance. I remember the Chiefs putting something together about 10 years ago that had a full Indian head dress with feathers, war paint, etc. Looked like someone had rammed their head up the back end of an ostrich. Just a little "OTT".......

Brown LG, Beekman RG and Mozes C
Whites Bay replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A co-worker (who may post on this board....you know who you are) has sold me on Levi Brown. I was solidly in the DT-First camp, but I'm not sure there's a DT on the board worth a 12. I'd take Brown in a heart beat in the first round, and he'd fit. I guess that means I'm not sold on Okoye (although I'd crack open a Molson in celebration if we got him). Your sequence of choices, quite frankly, leaves me drooling......but in 2008, not 2007. I believe you're right in the longer term. One can almost hear choruses of "F-U" !! from that OL down after down after down after down. The NFL wouldn't want to mike that group. Especially in the fourth quarter. -
Pats will win, and it won't be close
Whites Bay replied to Dr. K's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
One of two outcomes: If the Pats have a close lead with (e.g.) 7:00 to go in the 4th quarter, watch for the Colts' collective lips to turn blue as the Pats squeeze the Colts' collective throats and grind out one of those patented oxygen-depriving, game-killing 6:00 minute drives. Game over, and you know it. We've all seen it one too many times with the Bills. "The clock.............ticking......" (spoken by a Pats fan sitting in front of me at the Ralph at the end of the 2002 home game - bastard). Alternatively, the Colts come in fearless, play their game, and simply whip the living snot out of the Pats. whose age finally shows. We all know THAT is coming as well, despite great coaching and personnel selection. Time eventually taps every team on the shoulder, gently undoes the belt buckle, and leeringly whispers "Who's yer daddy?" in the ear. Right, Buffalo? Right, San Francisco? Right, Dallas? The Pats are no exception, and it would be interesting to see if the team has the character to play its best football in the face of defeat, or whether they react like a car careening onto a sidewalk crowded with pedestrians...... In other words, the Colts won't win a close one. They'll either beat the Pats like a rented mule, or lose yet another heartbreaker. -
I don't know if it's going to be a WR, but you're right - it's going to be a friggin' curveball. I'm still cleaning the cushion on the sofa from the "Bills select Donte Whitner" stunt. Don't get me wrong, good draft pick...but talk about left field. Who's that tight end from Iowa? They won't pick him in the top spot, but hoo boy would I like to see THAT drop into our lap in the third round.

Based upon long-term hates from the early childhood days, it would have to be the Cowboys. Hated 'em back in the 60s, learned to hate 'em even more in the 90s. Now that they're laughable, it makes for good television. The true hate of the modern era has to be New England. Best part about a New England game is the self-immolation that occurs when the calls don't go their way, or they haven't paid off enough refs. Watching the stands at Foxboro when things go against plan is like dropping hamburger into the piranhas. After that..... Friggin' hate Oakland. See Point 1 above about being laughable, and making for great TV bloopers. Jets fans represent a lower form of life, but that can't be helped. Snyder bites the big green weenie, and he is indeed ruining the game. See Point 1 again. The Titans may represent a new form of Antichrist. Any team that has stooped low enough to sign Terrell Owens for a few weeks.

Brutal. Just brutal. The house shook all night from the wind down here in the Mohawk Valley - it sounded a LOT worse than last week. Is their kicker and their punter worth their respective salaries? Because they're going to earn them today.

Would some players rather be out of the Playoffs?
Whites Bay replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I've heard quotes from Marino regarding how he assumed he'd be back after making the Big Dance in his second year. Never happened. Maybe when you're younger, you don't give a $#!+, because you assume that you'll be in the same position next year. Jiminy Crickets - think of US in 2004.....we were just one or two players away, as I recall........... Never, never take it for granted. -
Would some players rather be out of the Playoffs?
Whites Bay replied to Mikie2times's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
While I understand your point vis-a-vis the sheer physical exhaustion, I just can't imagine THAT aspect getting in the way of the players on a team like the Bills at this point. And I'm not saying that because I'm a homer, or because they're Supermen. It's because this team hasn't been "past December" in a long, long time. And there are other teams out there in a similar situation as well. If faced with the choice of a second turkey leg, or tying the laces a little tighter when you're on a team that just hasn't gone anywhere (think of Takeo Spikes)........... -

Man, Fletcher's hitting hard. Just give us one or two shots like that tomorrow, and the "happy feet" go to sleep. Who's their back up QB? -
The ball's going to be a b!tch to hold on to, and Young scrambles with it held WAY outside. Count on two fumbles. Lead-pipe cinch. What's going to be interesting will be whether that changes his propensity to scramble, or whether he does so with more caution. Either way, Schobel has a lot of fun. I'm swinging between hope and despair. The Bills are either going to blow it (sorry, can't get "wide right" out of my head, even after all these years and a lot of therapy)...or they're going to just kick the $#!+ out of Tenessee. And I mean the living $#!+, like they did Miami. It's not going to be a close score. I'm not dissing the tremendous job the Titans have done over the past several weeks, but even Cinderella's luck ran out. Someone with more detail than me can post their rankings (zero stinko in pass defense, sacks, etc.). You just can't continue winning on a regular basis like that, and between the fans and the weather they'll be playing against about 13 people.

Despite what you may have heard from your clinician (you know, the Large Animal Practice vet), the inbreeding hasn't been kind to you. Best of luck finding your way back out to the parking lot after the game, and have a Merry Christmas!

How far does blackout extend
Whites Bay replied to willis da illest's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You'll be fine. It's going to be televised on WWNY 7. I've been heading up there for the past several weeks, and I've avoided the friggin' blackout each time. -
Is it too early in the weekend for the gratuitous Southern jokes? Like: Q) "What is foreplay to a Southern boy?" A) "Hey sis.....you awake?" Probably too gratuitous and pedestrian, I admit, but that one always seems to ring a bell.

REMINDER: SUNDAY TICKET DOES NOT ESCAPE BLACKOUT
Whites Bay replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Take heart in the knowledge that they're one of the few teams in the AFC Wildcard race that we're actually viewing in our rear view mirror. If I've correctly interpreted the thousand threads on this board covering the tie-breaking scenarios.....well, in all probability, they're sniffin' our tailpipe. And that's a beautiful thing. -
REMINDER: SUNDAY TICKET DOES NOT ESCAPE BLACKOUT
Whites Bay replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Glad to help, but sad that I've had to learn so much about the blackout and telecasting! Love the Bills (have had season tickets during two stints), respect Ralph for what he's done this year.....but GEEZ LOUISE! We're in the Utica area, and it friggin' baffles me how I can live over 3 hours from the stadium and STILL get blacked out because of a small slice of Yates county - which itself is 2 hours from us. 75-mile blackout zone my @$$. It extends all the way to friggin' Albany. While Chuck Schumer's busy getting the NFL Owners to have a CBA meeting in January, he ought to bring THAT little gem up as well. -
If the improbable happens and this team goes 7-9
Whites Bay replied to Arkady Renko's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I had a September bet with a co-worker, who said they'd go no better than 4-12. I said 5-11 or better. If I won, I got a case of Molson Canadian. If he won, I had to get him a case of Genesee Cream Ale and drink it with him. It was touch and go for awhile, and I'm very grateful that the "Screamers" will be put on hold for now. In my heart of hearts, I felt we'd be 7-9 at best. But like everyone on this board......man, it's going to bite the big green one if they lose. It's too late now - the bandwagon's rolling and it's just wonderful. Dunno about the Ravens, but I think we're in good shape for the Titans game. Vince Young might be a media darling and a great collegiate player, but has he ever had to play in THIS STUFF THIS LATE in the season? Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore. -

Gribblenation's a great site, but always read the fine print. He says he pulls his data from a few other sources, and - bless him - he doesn't make claims for 100% accuracy. I've caught a few hiccups as the year has progressed. It's been my experience that the best data comes from www.titantv.com. Type in your zip code, choose analog or digital, and let 'er rip. I've found this source to nail it down within about an hour of the blackout, while gribblenation sometimes misses it...guess he has other things to do with his life than to update TV maps. Go figure. The upshot is that Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse are screwed blued tattooed. Going to head upstate to the Watertown area myself. It's like "The Land The NFL Forgot", and they don't screw with the blackouts up there. -
Weather's going to be rough, with a high of 38 and flurries/snow showers. JP's shown that he can throw through this with accuracy - on a dime. Young's shown that he can be rattled, and still plays with the instincts of a rookie. Sorry for stating the obvious, but the passing game's going to go to the Bills, and I'm guessing at least 2 passing touchdowns for JP. One will certainly be to Evans, but I'll toss the other one to either Parrish or Reed, as I don't think the Titans are going to ignore Royal like the Fins did last week - too much press now. PacMan will get a pick, and it will result in a TD. I can hardly wait to hear the gobbling PacMan noises made by the talking heads on ESPN during the highlight films on Sunday night......... It's a good thing the linebacking corps was built to be quick, because they're going to need it. Fletcher's going to have a big day, because Young's GOING to come up the middle - the question is how quickly Fletcher's going to shed his blocks in order to keep the gains to a minimum. Watch for Young to fumble twice because of the bad grip he'll have in the snow/wet, and Fletcher hitting him like a bag of cement. Bummer we're going to lose him next year. Henry's going to get 100+ on the ground just out of sheer emotion, but Willis will top him. Bills 27 Titans 14

How is no one ridiculously excited!?
Whites Bay replied to BuffaloBilliever's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The best - BEST - part about this weekend (assuming a big win, and a few Christmas presents like Miami and Jax losing) will be when the dust settles, and we're 8-7.....and have a real shot at it.......the BEST part is going to be ALL next week watching a lot of national media types having to (a) even MENTION the Bills and (b) gag while they actually ponder the possibility that THEY'VE BEEN FRIGGIN' WRONG WRONG WRONG. I'm predicting a couple of heart attacks on the air. -
Is there a map that shows which games will be
Whites Bay replied to Oneonta Buffalo Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You can also try "www.gribblenation.com". Go to the html site, and you'll find the link on the lower-right side of the page. That data can sometimes be out-of-date, however; if you suspect it's squirrely, go to Titantv.com, and type in your zip code (and choose analog or digital). That's usually the best. -
In order of priority: 1) I don't think you CAN get away from the Ravens game. In all probability they'll be playing for home field, and will come out like wild dogs. Hard to get away from THAT scenario. 2) Dolphins will be tougher then the Titans, and it means more (AFC East, versus merely AFC). 3) Titans will be tough because of Young, and Travis Henry has waited for this moment for a few years. Aside from that, however, they're very beatable.

I'm buying season tickets for the LA Bills
Whites Bay replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
We're in agreement. Like I said at the beginning of the thread, I'd give the team about 5 years to become cold oatmeal. You raise a good point about "people wanting to be seen"....I remember watching either Jay Leno or Johnny Carson back in 1989 (sorry, can't remember who was hosting back then) and Sammy Davis Jr. came on for what turned out to be his last interview before lung cancer got him. I almost fell out of my seat to see him in a Los Angeles Rams leather jacket. What a surprise - the Rams were making a run for the playoffs. A wonderful entertainer, but what a front runner. You'd get a lot of that in the first couple of years, and then......sound of crickets chirping. -

Whites Bay replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's a message board. Agreed - there are a lot of inane responses to highly inane topics. Looking at the main screen, however, I can see at least two threads that deal with this topic. The fans are, simply put, terrified that the team might leave. Part of me would rather be discussing our star receiver falling asleep in practice, but we don't have that luxury, I guess. Can't wait until there's final resolution to the issue. -

Whites Bay replied to CJPearl2's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Sounds like it hasn't changed in the twenty years since I first bought tickets to the Rams out there. Really a god-awful fan base, and it's refreshing to see that Goodell came out so bluntly. Looking at it another way - what did we miss by? 3900 tickets out of a capacity of 73000? That's missing by only 5%, sports fans. Believe me - and the above referenced quote ("zero call or excitement for a team here") - a Los Angeles-based team ownership would crawl on its collective knees on broken glass to have a fill rate of 95%. Zero, zero, zero interest in having a football team out there, and it's been that way for two decades.
