Go To Camp and see for Yourself,Edwards is WAY BETTER!
Rockinon replied to Driffill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
TE is actually throwing down field and connecting. Roscoe Parish is actually catching balls in the middle of the field. The Offensive line is blocking well for our RBs. The team is spending a lot of time in redzone work. The overall camp workouts are more aggressive. -
So far Troup and Williams are looking good. That's saying a lot because the interior of our offensive line is certainly no weakness. Both of these guys are 300 pounders that can take on 2 gaps. The thing I like about them, is that they can penetrate offensive lines and disrupt plays because they are not so big that their only strength is to be an immovable object. They have the ability to attack. And the beauty is that there are 2 of them and can rotate and stay fresh. These guys are will be fine. As for the rest of the front......???? I think that the edges are a concern because while they look great against our offensive line so far, that really isn't saying much. We will have to see how guys like Stroud and Edwards do and our outside linebackers do against opposing teams. All in all, my overall outlook is pretty optimistic. The D is looking great.

Check This out. The rook is doing fine.

Here's my Training Camp Report from Friday 7/30/10
Rockinon replied to Mike32282's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I remember Lee Evans disagreeing on the decision to start Edwards over JP a couple of years ago. It was right after Lee had a big season with JP as the starter. Not that I think there is any animosity or anything. I just think that Trent and Lee never really developed great chemistry. It will come with time and what is cool is that Trent is hitting multiple receivers. -
This coming from a meathead.

In Case you were wondering why we drafted Spiller 9th

I have 3 decades of watching this FO and you are still wrong. The problem with your argument and with many arguments is that no decision is as plain as black and white. People begin lashing out because of perceived incompetency but none here have actually worn the same shoes as the ones in the Bills FO. After a while, listening to all of this BS just starts to sound like a bunch Canadian Geese honking outside your house while trying to watch a ball game.....you just tune it out. -
Schobel is now 70/30 on playing this year
Rockinon replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Schobel may very well get 10 sacks. He could move around like Bruce Smith did but as a linebacker. Schobel coming off the edge with a head of steam is scary. Schobel coming up the middle is too because he is strong and fast. He just knows how to get to the QB and now he won't have to always take on a big tackle to do it. -
How would you describe the Bills in two words?

Brian Brohm Wll Never Have a Better Chance To Start

This list means nothing. Only performance matters and Edwards has got him beat so far. -
I don't think Wood would appreciate that.

Pessimistic Fans Should be Heard Too
Rockinon replied to mpl6876's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because you guys won't stay separated. Your mentality is all about bitching and moaning over pathetic issues. There is a lot that can be said for the power of belief. It helps your team. All of the negative crap that comes out is just not healthy, not for you and not for those around you. Support your team unconditionally. So what if you have to eat crow once in a while. But you sissies wouldn't anything about that would you? -
8 in the box will still trouble Bill's Offense

Now I know why they call you Meathead. -
Edwards hitting on the deep ball?
Rockinon replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Our slot receiver (Josh Reed) never seemed to be able to get open enough against opposing defenses over the middle and our tight ends were always either hurt or kept on the line for protection purposes. In training camp, I see Parish and the tight ends making a lot of plays. The thing that I have been watching is a commitment to working the middle of the field. Maybe we finally have a coach that gets this. If we can keep our OL healthy this year, we could be looking at a breakout year. All of the QBs are connecting on intermediate throws and the receivers seem to be having a lot of fun running new routes. Last year we rarely worked the middle. Dump offs and sideline throws seemed to be the norm. You have to use the entire field when attacking a defense so they can't get comfortable just covering limited areas of the field. We seemed to make it easy for them last year. I hope that these changes turn things around. Go Bills! -
The last thing you have to worry about is Aaron Schobel not being physically fit.
-
If it's only a 2 hour practice, why bother standing in line for food and refreshments? Bring a bottle of water with you next time.
-
Actually, Roscoe really blew it in training camps the last two years. He had one the highest percentage of dropped passes so never really got a chance during the regular season. Frankly, he never really got very many chances either. I have to agree, that getting him the ball should have been and still should be a major priority.
-
Of course. I know he fired the OC at the start of the season and who ended up calling the plays. Maybe I should have said the Jauron regime? Kinda nit-picky though.

What do you see as potential weaknesses since you are obviously a Jets fan?

O.J., Chuck Knox, Jim Kelly, ???
Rockinon replied to John Gianelli's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
There is no single charismatic person that is going to come in and be a savior and there never has been one. If my memory serves me right OJ didn't do it by himself. The "Juice" had the "Electric Company". Jim Kelly had a lot of help too. People like Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Andre Reed, Cornelius Benett, Steve Tasker and Marv Levy also contributed in big ways. The point is, the great teams always were made up of multiple player roles. I have been sitting back and watching all of these armchair experts on this board moaning about not getting the next Jim Kelly and a high draft pick for left tackle. It's kind of amusing because even if we had the best left tackle and the best QB in the league, this team would still struggle. Individual players simply do not come in and become saviors. The team as a whole does that. The concept seems to escape so many people. Standout players can come from any position on the field and it takes multiple roles to be successful. Hopefully the big defensive changes, the new coaching staff and guys like Spiller, Easley and Wang can breath new life into this struggling team. When I see the term "Savior" I start getting a sick feeling because I know that no man is going to be that person unless his name is Jesus. -
I agree with you here somewhat. They like to put as many men in the box as possible, sometimes nine leaving just two CBs to cover receivers. The can be burnt with the pass. The Bills beat them with screens, but you cannot only rely on screens. Crossing patterns with a speedy TE and also RB coming out of the backfield can also work. There is also the spread formation with extra wide receivers can burn them. You have to use short passes against this team because they will get to the QB. The problem with the Jets is that their defense tries to stifle offenses with a lot of people in the box and many teams crumble while others capitalize on their over aggressiveness. Beat them with, I know a lot of people don't want to hear this, but with Trent Edward's short passing game. Did anyone notice that when our tight end went down with an injury Edwards was lost out there? The tight end was to be a big part of the offense. Having a speedy, pass catching RB running crossing patterns can help too. Most people here like to criticize the short passing game but that is exactly how you beat this Jests team.
-
Jets weaknesses. 1 year starter at QB. Their run game will be tested against a beefed up Bills D. They like to crowd the line with extra bodies and can be beaten with the use of a pass catching TE and RB out of the backfield. Basically, linebacker mismatches. I see Spiller as a dangerous weapon against them. Their offensive line has weaknesses that can be exposed. They like to send CB blitzes and need to pay for those poor decisions. There is more, I am sure but they do have weaknesses. They surprised a lot of people last year and I am sure that they will find the competition stiffen this year. The team with a great big bullseye painted on them is the Jets. Personally, I like our chances better. Nobody thinks the Bills are a big threat.

ESPN Rankings? Who cares? Those guys don't know their a**holes from a hole in the ground.
-
Excellent insights and I agree about them trashing the Patsies. They are not as dominant as everyone thinks though. Every team has weaknesses and the team that beats them is going to be the team that knows how to exploit them. The Jets were very susceptible to running backs coming out of the backfield on short dump-offs which is something that our team seems to excel at.

You read one or two articles mentioning Brohm and start assuming that the new regime is more impressed with him than any other QB. Also, you have an opinion and are not willing entertain any other ideas. If the coach is thinking that way, we are in big trouble. As far as Edwards is concerned, you are zeroing in on individual plays that maybe you have actually seen, maybe not. You have formed a hypothesis by looking at the negatives without looking at the positives. Also, I don't think you know as much about football as you think.
