  1. The roles of linebackers is very different when comparing 4-3 and 3-4. That said, I think it is unclear how well last year's crop will perform in the new system. I think the new regime is just covering their butt's because some players just don't transition well when a new system is implemented. I like that they are doing these things. They have definitely beefed up the defensive line. They probably see the linebackers as a potential area of weakness and want to have more options available just in case.
  2. I wouldn't be surprised to see many variations of a spread offense, particularly a form of "Pistol" offense. The pistol is something that Chan Gailey has had some success with. It is a formation somewhat like a shotgun formation except the QB is only about half as many feet behind center and the running back lines up right beside him. The theory is that, the QB and the RB are too close to the line of scrimmage for defensive linemen to see over the offensive line and see which way the RB is going to run. Basically, the handoff is hidden and can be very effective on running plays. Often the running back is all ready hitting the hole before a defensive lineman realizes where the RB is headed. It can be a very fast transaction too because the RB is all ready right beside the QB. The QB also has the option to pass, but the real advantage of the pistol offense is in the run game. As soon as we got Spiller, I knew this would be something that would be worked into the game plan. A lot of people are boohooing over not getting a new QB or LT. What a lot of people don't realize is how pitiful the play calling really was last year. Gailey is miles ahead of Jauron in this regard. All of us have seen flashes of talent from the players on this offense, but it seems to me that we have not been putting the ball into the hands of our play-makers enough. Your going to see that change. I have been watching defenses attack our offense, repeatedly using the same defensive strategy because our offense has not been able to capitalize. Chan Gailey actually knows how to make defenses pay when they get over confident like that.
  3. Obvious? No, it is not.
  4. Chan has said there will be competition at the position, but anyone with half a brain knows that only one is going to get the first crack at the job. That person is going to be the most experienced QB. Everyone who thinks Brohm is the one, is just deluding themselves. Will he get a chance? Yes, but the first QB to get real practice time is going to be Edwards. People are very quick around here to forget how productive Edwards was before getting hit. He could still be beaten by another QB showing great performance, but it is going to be an uphill battle. If Brohm takes the starting positing, he will have to prove to be significantly better. The same with any other QB on the team.
  5. Vast improvements are always expected. You should check your sources.
  6. It is great to see a gamer like this in Buffalo and showing a real interest. Hope his incredible athletic ability is put to good use this season. He appears to be a genuinely likable person.
  7. NicK, this is a real good place to seek out advice. This message board has a Bills following like none I have seen. There are those who appear to have good insight and there some who wear their hearts on their sleeve. People of all ages and walks of life. You will certainly get a lot of opinions. What I like to see in Sports Broadcasting is honest commentary about significant plays on the field. You have to know the players playing the game and you have to give your opinions about how they are playing their position. To me, I don't think it is so important for a local sports commentator to be unbiased unless you are seeking to land in the national spotlight. It is OK to let people know you are a fan especially if you truly are. That actually adds more credit, because there is nothing more frustrating than listening to a phony. It is great to see mentions of incredible plays whether they are good or bad. The key is in giving an honest assessment without worrying about being unbiased. People just respect that more and will frankly enjoy your show more.
  8. Wow. You need to lay off of the coffee.
  9. Which is what we will play, yes.
  10. Well yes, in a 3-4 scheme.
  11. Looks like you finally got your wish. Back to back pass rushing OLBs.
  12. Marshawn? Is that you?
  13. Looks like Arthur Moats is your guy.
  14. Looks like Arthur Moats is your guy.
  15. I recently created a website for the Erie County American Legion. What I learned was that there is a very big Polish population in Buffalo. On the front page of the site, is a picture of the very first Polish National Commander of the American Legion. The guy has a serious history too. He actually took a ride on Air Force One with President Ronald Reagan to go to Poland and bring home some dead WW II remains.
  16. We've got a bunch of dicks on our OL.
  17. Lightnining28 on twitter. Was that his college number? 21, cool. Both are multiples of 7.
  18. No, after watching the Bills last year, my biggest problem was that the Bills were weak at the point of attack. Both Offensive and Defensive lines. We clearly picked the Best Player Available to fill our needs. We concentrated on the Defensive side of the ball, which is really a much smarter move. As for the offensive line, you are overstating how bad the line is. We picked up two early round offensive tackles last year who are showing a great deal of promise. The only real position with big question marks is LT. If you actually look to see who was a better pick on both sides of the ball, clearly the 2 defensive linemen Buffalo picked are better than any OT available at that time. Look at the big picture and stop zeroing in on one position. We are upgrading the entire team, not just OLT.
  19. I have been scratching my head a lot through this draft because I have been foolishly listening to all of the draftniks around here for the last month. But watching all of this play out and doing a little research on the guys Buffalo has picked, I can see that they are definitely doing their homework. With the exception of this last pick, I can see every single player so far starting. I never really looked at it from that perspective before. All of these guys are highly likely to start because they are an upgrade to what we have. I have doubts about this WR, but if nothing else, this is going to put pressure on our existing WRs compete.
  20. No, it says "If you guys want the job you are going to have to compete".
  21. Jared Gaither from Baltimore, please.
  22. Big strong 3-4 DE. The Bill's are looking to build a defense in the Baltimore Ravens mold. Only with an actual secondary.
  23. Anyway, I really like this pick. Sorry, about changing the subject above. This guy sounds like one hell of a workhorse. He actually weighed 20lbs more coming into college, bench presses better than Suh and completed his college course work. This tells me that the kid is not afraid of work. I think many people overlooked him and the Bills got much better value with this pick than many here realize.
