  1. The whole landscape will change after FA. I think a guy like Alex Smith for instance is going to be let go, because no one is going to be willing to give up anything for him. The Jets are in salary cap hell as are other teams. Some FAs will be available and that will change needs during the draft. Who knows how things will work out. We may get a QB, LB, WR or TE in FA. Maybe a couple of players. Then Draft day will be all about BPA.
  2. I like Matt Barkley in RD1 Make a splash with a veteran WR in FA Best LB on the Board in RD2
  3. The author of that article seems to think there are some very good TEs in the draft too. Can't say I disagree. I think the Bills were very limited last year when they lost David Nelson. Many considered him more TE than WR because of where he lined up. The thing that I love about the TE position is how versatile it is. The TE can be a big bodied FB like Corey McIntyre or a faster more athletic receiver. Is he going to stay in and block or slip out and catch a pass? Whether he is stationary or going in motion presnap, he has to be accounted for.
  4. When your as old as I am, 10 years is a very short period of time.
  5. I found this article on TE's and how they are used. It's a very good read. http://www.fieldgulls.com/nfl-draft/2013/2/8/3968260/nfl-draft-2013-scouting-the-tight-end-group-breaking-down-the-varying I really think the Bills offense could benefit from having a couple of top notch tight ends. What do you think?
  6. I don't believe this. There will be no restructure. Fitz will either be here or he won't. Can't believe this has gone on for 8 pages.
  7. Brady is using the read option.
  8. Trade our first for an extra 1st next year and a third this year. Make due with best player available this year and see what we have with these new coaches. Next year we'll have 2 first rounders and have the leverage to get Johnny Football. Problem solved.
  9. You should look at his 2011 game against Syracuse. He had an OL and absolutely torched them.
  10. This is what I was thinking at first, but I've been warming up to this Barkley kid. He can play in a west coast system(Marone likes an uptempo offense with west coast characteristics) and he utterly torched Syracuse while Marone was there. In 2011, he dominated. In 2012 he had a defender in his face the whole game and still beat them. That OL he played behind in 2012 was awful. That's why he looked great in 2011 and just average in 2012. The thing that I liked most is when a WR goes deep to an outside corner, he places the ball perfectly over the WRs shoulder(kind of a pet peeve of mine concerning Fitz). He also uses the screen pass well(that's important with guys like CJ and Fred in the lineup). And if he isn't running for his life, he is very accurate. Yep, I was thinking our best bet would be to just run with Fitz again this year but now I am kind of hoping this kid is the pick at #8.
  11. This sounds a lot like superstition. You made up your mind based solely on your bias toward where he is from?
  12. Just watched a bunch of Barkley videos and I like what I see. Too bad he was getting mauled on nearly every play this year, because if he had real OL he'd be a clear cut #1 QB this year. He looked awesome last year but had a defender in his face within 2 secs of the snap on nearly every play this year. He's good though. I can't say I'd complain if the Bills grabbed him 1st round. This looks like it might just be the pick at 8. I hope he stinks it up during USCs pro day so he falls to us...LOL.
  13. Some more WR rumor mill material...... http://www.footballsfuture.com/2013/fa/wr.html
  14. I'd like to know where this miracle cure QB is going to come from this year. I'd also like to know how much we have to give up to get him. I agree we need better QB play, but I don't see where it's going to come from......not in free agency and there damn sure isn't better in the draft. You can look at all of Fitz's flaws and ignore his strengths all while looking at highlight real of other QBs(without ever seeing the there flaws) all you want. Thing is, you won't ever actually improve by starting over with a rookie at least for a couple of years. I don't want that. It's what he Bills always do.
  15. That's kind of what I'm thinking. A late round WR project type with potential so we can focus on things like LB, QB, TE in earlier rounds. Aside from QB, I'd say our greatest weakness is LB and TE with Chandler possibly out early in the season. I think David Nelson can still do some things if healthy. As for Easely, I am still waiting to see if he can at least get on the field to play. And what the heck is the deal with our WRs constantly getting injured? Are they just too small?
  16. I have seen 2 different times. 4.35 and 4.5. Not sure how accurate.....small school. He does look fast though. Not saying he is a lock to be a stud in the NFL, but he sure is impressive for someone no one knows about.
  17. The perception of this year's QB class is all over the place. I don't think that is going to change come draft day. A lot of teams are going to value other safer bet positions than QB higher.
  18. I think this guy could go anywhere from 4th to 7th round depending on how he does in the combine. If he wows people there he may shoot up some draft boards. I'd like to see how he compares against better talent. He looks like he can play at a higher level.
  19. I was looking at "Inside the Bills" on the Bills website and there was an article about this kid. He was supposed to play for Oklahoma but academic issues forced him to declare for the draft. Normally I wouldn't be interested in such a player but I changed my mind after watching this video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bqcvMAaw4Hs First, its pretty obvious he is a man among boys in this video(the talent around him is sub par), but he is big, he can catch and he can block. He was blowing up defenders with his blocks. I could see him springing CJ for a big gain. This kid isn't even rated on most draft boards, but I thought I'd share and see what you think. Discuss.
  20. This team definitely needs big pass catchers. There are too many small speedy guys(I really think this is why we can't keep them healthy). TEs don't shy away from hits. They lower there head look for someone to run into. The offense needs to impose its will instead of always trying to out run or out smart the D. You don't do that with little people.
  21. Maybe so but if the QB cupboard is bare you check another cupboard.
  22. This is how I see it too. Fitz has payed well when he has protection and receivers to throw to. You take those away and he is hung out to dry. He is not going anywhere. Having someone compete for his job though is not a bad thing. The guy can manage a game if he is given a few tools to work with. Losing Fred, Scott Chandler, Wood, Cordy and multiple receivers is not easy. I'll grant that he is not a top 5% QB in this league, but he is long way the from bottom 5%. I have seen the same boneheaded plays as everyone else but I just don't see a QB, alone fixing this team. When the defense is in the bottom 5% in multiple categories, a lot of pressure goes directly on the QB. There are ways to win without having a Tom Brady. I see a bunch of fans watching the Pats dominate with poor defense and then jealousy sets in because the Bills don't have their own Tom Brady. Get over it. This team isn't going to get where it needs to be in the same way as the Patriots. This is the Buffalo Bills. Our team has pumped a bunch of money into defense and I'm glad about that. This team has a couple of dynamic running threats and I'm glad about that. We have a QB who while he is no Tom Brady, he is smart, gritty and doesn't complain about his circumstances. And I'm glad about that too. If you want this team to improve, you find your weaknesses and go from there. The last thing you want to do is find a scapegoat to blame it all on. I'm pretty sure I'll hear it from all of the people blathering on about the need for a "franchise QB". Everyone wants an easy fix, but when that ain't happening, you have to roll up your sleeves and find another way.
