Bills officially sign QB Kevin Kolb
Rockinon replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He's wearing his old college #4. Was curious about his college stats and ran across He initially was going to play for Oklahoma coming out of high school and ended up rescinding that commitment when his high school coach got a job coaching for Houston. Just looking at the video, I was pretty surprised by the running plays and role outs. Kolb has some wheels. Here are his college stats. Passing Year School Conf Class Pos Cmp Att Pct Yds Y/A AY/A TD Int Rate Career Houston 964 1565 61.6 12964 8.3 8.5 85 31 145.1 2003* Houston CUSA FR QB 220 360 61.1 3131 8.7 9.3 25 6 153.8 2004 Houston CUSA SO QB 198 353 56.1 2766 7.8 7.7 11 6 128.8 2005* Houston CUSA JR QB 254 420 60.5 3258 7.8 7.1 19 15 133.4 2006* Houston CUSA SR QB 292 432 67.6 3809 8.8 9.8 30 4 162.7 His completion percentages look pretty good and his Y/A are good too. These are his college numbers so take them with a grain of salt. He really doesn't have much to go on for numbers in the NFL so I'm kind of interested in these. I like the signing. He could be pretty good if he's given some time to throw. We are going to find out how good our offensive line really is with him behind center. The thing that I like is that he has a pretty good background in west coast principals. He may actually flourish in Buffalo. -
The OP may be on to something. The Bills have had 4 safeties in for visits. FOUR! They are obviously looking to add more. As to where they plan to add more in this draft, that is the question. Also as the OP suggests, Pettine places a pretty high value on the position. Many believe other positions are much greater needs based on what we all saw last year. However the defense is going to be much different, scheme wise. I think a lot of people will be surprised by how the Bills draft this year.

Have you decided what you want to see in the draft?
Rockinon replied to White Linen's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yes, yes, and yes. -
Chicken or the egg? If you have a star QB you have a star WR. You can't have one without the other. Sheesh. Way over analyzing this stuff. We need both. That does not mean we don't all ready have one on our roster and it doesn't mean we won't try to improve one of those positions either. Can we improve both positions? Absolutely. Will we? We'll find out soon enough. Or in some cases maybe not. You guys crack me up.

Fred Davis FA TE has dinner with Bills brass
Rockinon replied to Scott_36's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They're bringing him in for a visit. Apperently the Jets are also interested according to Schefter. Adam Schefter @AdamSchefter 3m Redskins free-agent TE Fred Davis is scheduled to visit Bills on Wednesday. Jets and Redskins also interested. -
Outside opinions ont draft's QBs
Rockinon replied to OldTimer1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
That's my take as well. I just can't see the Bills passing on a QB in the 1st. They know people will reach for a QB, so in order to get one they like, they will grab theirs at 8 before its too late. -
Check This. Stevie is at a Duck's hockey game with Matt. You think they tossed the ball around?

Lost in all of this, we need a Tight End
Rockinon replied to Kellyto83TD's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
A TE can be very helpful to a new QB. Especially an HB type. People seem to categorize positions all wrong around here. The tight end is a receiver, a pass blocker and a run blocker. The tight can be in motion behind the line of scrimmage giving him the ability to counter what the defense is doing. This position is far more important than a lot of people realize. A big powerful receiving TE is hard to bring down and is a natural threat in the red zone too. Don't discount the position. Look what Brady is doing with TEs. They can be very useful. I tend to think that some of the most potent offenses in the league use TEs as receivers. -
Preliminary Mock - Any Changes Needed?
Rockinon replied to Astrobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I think that Barkley may become the #1 QB in this draft if he does well during his pro day. I would love this, except I do not want 2 more QBs. We still have other holes to fill. Then again, it would be nice to have some depth at QB too. -
I could get on board with a scenario like that too. I'm holding out hope that Barkley wows everyone on his pro day though. If he or Geno is available, I'd take it. Then again a nice defensive guy and QB in the second could work. I'm no expert but I do like BPA when it's a position of need. On the surface LT is not a position of need but Glenn was considered the best guard coming out of college with most people(Bill's excluded) not thinking of him as a tackle. To sum things up, there is more than one way to skin a cat.
-
Let him compete for LT. That will light a fire under his butt. Loser goes to RT, I would think.

I was at our local AMVETS and a buddy of mine was mouthing off that he could do between four and five hundred pushups in less than five minutes. Being as drunk as we all were, a few people decided to take him up on a bet. My buddy had about 5 people bet a beer that he couldn't do it. He ended up winning 5 free beers when he did 10 pushups.

Great article by Greg Cosell on defensive alignments

K-9, did you read that article the OP posted? I think it was a very good write-up and that it could shed some light on what our coaches are thinking. -

Your observations are based on players not on the Bills roster. The scheme is not going to be a clone of what the Jets did. This is the Buffalo Bills and the talent here is entirely different. I don't see us playing the same game at all. We know the defense has some serious talent......just look at the roster. I'm pretty convinced that our new coaches will be putting together a better game plan than Wanny did. -

Nice article. I really think Pettine has a plan for getting after the passer. Bills could be among the best in the league this year. I also think all of the hoopla surrounding all of these read option QBs coming out of college is going to come to a screeching halt. Defenses are getting prepared. CBS Sports - PFT article. -
The Bills have a few holes to fill

I don't see any kind of trade happening where we trade up. Now trading down I can get on board with. -
“Mutiny” may have been a factor in Pollard release Interesting. Anyone interested in this safety?
-
Antoine Winfield was just released.
-
That may not be far off. A lot of older CBs become safties.
