Decided against renewing the season tickets today

phrased it wrong -

Now that is one visual that I did not need at 6 AM!! -
I'm a lifelong fan and will always love the Bills but I'm choosing to not give them my money this season. Here's why: 1. "Cash to cap"- makes good financial sense on paper until it's completely contradicted by a reported $23 million dollar contract being awarded to a 2nd tier defensive lineman. It also made no sense to go public with the whole "cash to cap" approach, it basically sent a message to the outside world of "hey, we're poor so don't come here looking for work cuz we can't pay you much" If the Bills wanted to have this approach then that's fine but why tell the entire world about it at a press conference, why not just say that "we will be running our institution in a fiscally responsible manner and we are looking to build a winner"? No other team has complained as much lately about money issues as the Bills and old Ralphie have. 2. The whole Willis fiasco, why the PHUK is Dick Jauron speaking to the media about a potential Willis trade? Who failed to tell him that it's a taboo subject? And why the PHUK did it ever get so public in the 1st place, now there are articles surfacing about him not knowing basic running plays, etc etc. His value is declining each day. I'd venture a guess and say that the Bills will get a 5th rounder for him or they will have to outright release him because if a trade is rejected he certainly won't want to play for the Bills. It will be a total loss. 3. Marv's approach of building a winning team through the draft is very noble but given that it takes 3-5 years to build a great player then the Bills will always be drafting replacements for their unrestricted free agents who want to go play where there is more money. Building a solid core of veteran players seems impossible under this approach. I write all this in hopes that I am wrong and that all of these "approaches" work out and prove me to be the dumbest poster ever on TBD, I will renew tickets once I feel that this organization is going in the right direction.

OH come on Sacto, you know that McGahee's poor production has nothing to do with his lack of brain power, effort, motivation, questionable moral choices and children and moreso to do with Buffalo's offensive line. Geesh. Seriously, I wonder why people are deluding themselves with this whole 1st round pick possibility, his numbers are very shoddy, his lackadaisical approach is now known and documented as is his brainpower or complete lack thereof. The Bills will be offered at best a 5th round pick for McGahee and then when they refuse the offer he will become the biggest cancer the Bills have ever seen until his inevitable release. I said a few posts ago, this team is primed for a 5 win season. -
lol, please revive that old thread please!!!

Nanker, love your posts, this one is very demonstrative of your point. Gotta say though, your mastery of colored text is gonna get you nominated for poster of the year.

I'm quite sure that this years draft is going to be considered "punter heavy" or "the year of the punters"
-
then what are we left with? A discontent player who has been publicly outed and probably won't give two sh-ts about playing hard. Everyone will rebut this with "it's his contract year, he'll try real hard to get a good deal", I disagree. He's a human being and he'll be ticked off and will slack majorly as a result, his effort has always been questionable, it can only get worse now when his pee size brain processes this whole ordeal. It seems to me that when you come out and shop a player, quite publicly like the Bills are doing you almost put yourself at a disadvantage because if the trade does not work out then you are left with a lame duck player. Interested teams are aware of this and will probably not make any grand offers for him as they know that the Bills will have to take what they're offered because any draft pick is better than a malcontent player who hates his team. If this trade works out it's at best a 3rd round pick but I'm going with more of a 5th. And no, I don't have a solution or any better way to handle a trade, unless it can be accomplished without the media being involved.

Possibly losing 4 defensive starters

it was very painful, do you remember the Titans or Jags games too? McGee plays very short (height wise) and seldomly seems to go up for the ball or the pass break up. McGee is not a #1 CB, he is a nickel back or even a dime back in a system that is at least average. -
Jets release RB Barlow, OL Teague
generaLee83 replied to CarolinaBills's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It was sad but also really funny when Teague would often get completely turned around by the opposing D-lineman and then he would just look confused. -
I nominate you for post of the week

Browns must be the most unlucky team....
generaLee83 replied to ganesh's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
No doubt about that, if the Bills ever cease to exist I'd probably be a Browns fan. Good fan base, not a flash and glitz kind of team or town either. -
All of this input is clearing the issue up alot in my mind. One more question though, why does a released players salary still count some against the cap then? With the release of Eric Moulds in '06 I believe he was slated to make around 10 million dollars but even after his release his salary still counted 6 million against the cap? How is this '6 million' figured? Is it a percentage or was that part of some bonus?
-
What an idiot Nelly is. I mean, it's funny in the whole social experimentation approach of "I wonder what will happen when I dump a bunch of money in front of a bunch of low class idiots" but realistically what does anyone expect to happen?
-
NFL contracts are not guaranteed correct? Is a signing bonus guaranteed? And if it is guaranteed and it has been agreed to have been paid over the course of the contract (10 million dollar bonus over 5 years) then does it count against the cap even if the player is released before the end of the contract? If nothing is guaranteed then what does it matter if a team 'amortizes the future'?

How would you grade Marv Levy as a GM?
generaLee83 replied to 2003's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I give Marv a 'C' right now. He was a steady 'B' a week ago until the press conference, his lack of knowledge concerning the franchise tag and Willis' remarks about Toronto really gave me a sour taste in my mouth. Another good draft and some decent movement in free agency I'll upgrade him to a 'B' again, it goes no higher until the Bills have a winning record. -
Possibly losing 4 defensive starters
generaLee83 replied to generaLee83's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You got that right, after free agency I would bet that Clements deal matches Champ Bailey's or slightly exceeds it. Clements is most certainly top 5 in my opinion when he is giving 100% effort. -

Teams utilizing "unfair" franchise tag! official thread
generaLee83 replied to BADOLBILZ's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree, it's pretty disgusting that he said that, it was more troubling that he seemed to have a hard time understanding how the tag worked, I'm a complete moron and I understand the franchise tag. And as for him not being aware of Willis' remarks about moving the team to Toronto, hey Marv, where the hell have you been for the last 2 months? I hope he was lying because if he really never came into contact with that information or someone else who read that information then he must live underneath the stadium in a cave. Geico, so easy a Marv can do it. -
With the expected extreme difficulty in retaining Nate Clements, London Fletcher-Baker and Chris Kelsay and the strong possiblity that Takeo Spikes will be released how does this team even expect to maintain the mediocre defense it had last year? Losing 4 starters? I'm an optimist and I see this team struggling to win 6 games this year. A great draft and a most certain below average free agency hunt is not going to counter the loss of these 4 players.

Daq, I will ALWAYS be a Bills fan but I most likely will not show it by cutting them a $1200 check this season. On a side note, it seems like I haven't read a post of yours in a while, are you in school or something?
-
Except for that whole holding call that basically took the Bills out of the 1st Pats game and then what was the other thing? oh yeah when like a 2nd grader he couldn't remember to get his second foot in bounds against the Titans and basically cost the game. So he only directly contributed to 2 losses, no big deal. 7 wins instead of 9, no biggie.

All this Schumer crap today is pathetic.
