  1. This may be the prevailing view right now, but things can change a lot over five games. Missing the playoffs combined with more embarrassing losses could easily tip the scales the other way. But I would not be surprised if McDermott is back even if the team loses two or three out of the last five.
  2. That's probably not a bad thing. Much as we might dislike him, Jones is actually one of the more savvy owners in the game. The Cowboys franchise has certainly been successful under his ownership.
  3. Not the way it works. I suspect the CBA gives them the right to pretty much do what they want, other than assaulting pregnant women, during the bye week.
  4. So McDermott took time off from coaching up Josh Allen to sign Beasley and Smoke Brown?
  5. I agree. I get feeling that Pegula-land is in disarray and that a major organizational change is too much to handle right now. Barring a total, locker room-losing collapse, McDermott will return next year to blow more close games.
  6. I thought it was Leslie Frazier’s defense that ruined the season last year…
  7. Anything that reduces Von’s snap count will be a net positive for the Bills’ defense.
  8. Please tell us what Sean McDermott, the defensive back specialist, did to make Josh Allen what he is today…
  9. The team McDermott took over was coached to a .500 record by Wrex Ryan. After adding Tre White, Dawkins and Milano, McDermott squeezed 1 more win out of them…what a legend.
  10. Make sure to watch the PAC 12 championship game on Friday. You'll get to see Odunze, as well as Troy Franklin from Oregon, who I think would be a great fit for us. He's got plenty of size, good hands, blazing speed and huge YAC ability. I don't know why he's not being talked about as a top-20 pick.
  11. MHJ is undoubtedly a great prospect, but is he really that much better than the other guys in this class? It seems to me that there are at least three other prospects this year that would have been WR1 last year, although it's still early in the process...
  12. No way that happens. The Bills love Spencer Brown and Dawkins of course is going nowhere. We're taking a WR.
  13. Or OBJ or Davante Adams. Actually, I think we traded up from 9, so we couldn’t have gotten Evans (who went 7th) in our original spot.
  14. I wouldn’t do it…not in a draft where there are so many other great receivers. And as good as MHJ is, history tells us that the highest rated WR in the class rarely turns out to be the best pro. Too many other great prospects to make a move up of this magnitude.
  15. Troy Franklin would be a perfect fit. Good chance he’ll be available when we pick. Can’t wait to see him and Odunze go at it in the PAC 12 champ game on Friday.
  16. It’s a legitimate question, but it’s the type of thing that would never even occur to McDummy. It certainly would have been better than what he chose to do. Why? How did that work out?
  17. I no longer live in WNY, so I don’t have my finger on the pulse of the organization like others do who are exposed to the local media on a daily basis, but from my vantage point it seems like Pegula-land is in disarray. Terry rarely speaks to the media and when he does, it’s usually pretty bad. Kim’s mysterious illness has been handled in an utterly bizzare fashion, etc. And it’s not at all clear what the command structure is within the organization…does Beane report to McDermott? Which one has Terry’s ear? If my perception of the organization is correct, I think it’s unlikely McDermott gets canned, even though he richly deserves it. I just think it would be too heavy of a lift for this operation. Much more likely that they just ride it out and see what happens next year.
  18. You are attributing the accomplishments of Josh Allen to the Clapper… big mistake. McDermott is cut from the same cloth as Dick Jauron, Chan Gailley, etc. Game, set, match. Thanks for playing, Sean.
  19. True, but Justin Herbert is not in Allen’s class.
  20. Yes, I think it's somewhat unusual for the coach to report directly to the Owner instead of to the GM (assuming that's true), but that doesn't mean that Beane wouldn't have significant influence on decisions about McDermott's future. Many organizations also have someone who sits above the GM but below the owner (such as a President of Football Operations). I don't know if Terry has someone like that within his organization, but it would be interesting to know.
  21. Obviously Terry has the last word, but are there others within his organization who would be involved in the decision, other than Beane? It’s an important question and you didn’t answer it.
  22. Don't be obtuse. We have a head coach who needs firing and it's important to know who might be making the call on such an important decision. Obviously, Beane would be involved, but who else? Terry himself, or does he have underlings to whom he's delegated responsibility for decisions like this?
  23. Great question.
  24. Pipe dream of course, but no reason we can’t land a terrific WR in round 1, even without trading up. Rome O or Troy Franklin would be awesome. One thing we’ve leaned from these loaded WR drafts is that there is no way to know which guy will turn out to be the best. I don’t really think the Dolphins are better than we are, but they always beat the teams they should, and we don’t. What makes us so high variance and the Dolphins low variance? Or maybe they are just better….
  25. Yep, it’s definitely a red flag
