What should we do at QB next year?
Albany,n.y. replied to KurtGodel77's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Even if he was a free agent we'd be insane from both a salary cap case & it would mean the end of JP's career in Buffalo. You may have taken him off because SD won't let him go, but even if they did we should have nothing to do with him, ever. -
What should we do at QB next year?
Albany,n.y. replied to KurtGodel77's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Since Drew will not take a pay cut to remain as JP's caddy, Drew at a lower salary as the backup is not a real option. You're not getting anyone who is a FA, who will start elsewhere (in cut Drew scenario) because JP is going to be the favorite to win the job here. Any thought of signing Drew Brees should be left on the planet Mars. I'd sign a vet as 3rd stringer such as Kordell or Batch-who have both played for MM & TC, give JP every opportunity to win the job, keep Drew (at full salary) and if JP wins & Drew retires at the end of camp rather than being the backup (AVP has said he doesn't think Drew would accept being a backup), we have a vet who knows the system. If Drew sticks around we've got one of the best backup QBs in the league. For next year Drew is a good insurance policy against injury or JP faltering during the season. If everything goes as planned, Drew retires, or gets cut to sign with a team that wants him to start & we still have a vet backup. Please stop any Drew Brees insanity-he could never be effective in Buffalo, he doesn't have the arm strength. -
Felser has been on WHAM Tuesday nights with Bob Matthews, along with the other "Bills Gang" members. He was on this Tuesday. Since the season is over it may have been their last. It's not just Felser on the Empire site, they haven't changed the columns since the Bengals game. Felser can also be seen in Sunday's Buffalo News.

Hey Vinny, guess what happens when you go from Arena to NFL-Wind, rain & snow baby! Foggetaboutit! The answer is Nugent, not the pizza man.

Who Thinks Drew Bledsoe Will Be A Cowboy This Year
Albany,n.y. replied to AirBledsoe11's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Yesterday I would have said no way. Today I'd say it's better than 50-50 and a legitimate possibility. Why did I change my mind?- Because I read what Moulds said on WGR this morning. Here's the most important thing he said (posted on another board): "Moulds also told WGR if both Drew Bledsoe and J.P. Losman are back for 2005, he sees a healthy, open competition for the starting job at training camp. He thinks Losman is a smart player with all the attributes to be a good quarterback and its just a matter of how fast Losman progresses. Moulds indicated Losman got better in practices over the course of the season and even 'picked our defense apart a couple of times'." Now, the idea of getting much for Drew isn't realistic, but if Parcells gave his 3rd pick this year for Henson, maybe we can get a 4th for Drew. Parcells must win now & he doesn't have a QB to do that. Drew's big weakness is his inability to perform without a TE as a pass option. Parcells knows Drew about as well as anyone & he has Witten to aid Drew's game. -
We have to take him at pick 54 if we want him. Even then he might be gone No way the Raiders are looking at Nugent, Janikowski just signed a long term extention.

Position by Position Analysis of the Bills
Albany,n.y. replied to Mark Vader's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Excellent! I hope TD reads it. I don't think drafting Nugent in the 2nd (where we would have to draft him) is as improbable as some think. The case is strong that if you are trying to win a championship you do it with a kicker who can win you the Super Bowl. Imagine if we had had Christie 2 years earlier. What would NE's SB record be without Vinatieri. I think TD knows this & will either draft Nugent or has already scouted a later round kicker to replace Lindell. I'd be shocked if Lindell is our kicker next season. -
I don't get NFL.com's draft order
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Your link matches the order I came up with Sunday & does not match NFL.com's order. It has the non playoff teams up to pick 20, the Bills' pick at 18 due to strength of schedule & says if the team is not on the list it's in the playoffs. So now it's even more confusing. NFL says Bills pick is below playoff teams, CBS says playoff teams are below Bills' pick. -
Brees does not have the arm strength to play in Buffalo's winds. Brick one from the foundation just crumbled.

here's what they have on NFL.com: In all past drafts the teams out of playoffs drafted ahead of playoff teams. They have Min & Stl drafting ahead of Buffalo. What happened? Did NFL.com mess up or are the rules different this year. They didn't show NE, Pit or Phil 2005 NFL FIRST-ROUND DRAFT ORDER No. Club Win Loss Tie Percent Strength of Schedule Opp. Record 1. I vote for LINDELL. Drew does not play well without TEs in his offense. He played like LINDELL ever since Campbell & Euhus went down. LINDELL, even Luke McCown would have looked good against SF.

Someone else posted we move up ahead of 2 Balt & Jax but they rotate, so we're double screwed because Dallas gets the benefit & we rotate down in round 2. 1 San Francisco 2 Miami 3 Cleveland 4 Chicago 5 Tampa Bay 6 Tennessee 7 Oakland 8 Arizona 9 Washington 10 Detroit 11 or 12 Dallas 11 or 12 NY Giants to SD 13 Houston 14 Carolina 15 Kansas City 16 New Orleans 17 Cincinnati 18 Buffalo to Dallas 19 Jacksonville 20 Baltimore 21 Minnesota 22 St. Louis 23 Seattle 24 Green Bay 25 Denver 26 NY Jets 27 Atlanta 28 San Diego 29 Indianapolis 30 New England 31 Philadelphia 32 Pittsburgh

If you want to keep up with Jets game
Albany,n.y. replied to Albany,n.y.'s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I just found out that WHAM will also have the Indy-Den game on too. I can listen to it on the way home -
Look for someone who is stuck with an extra ticket holding up one near the entrances to the stadium. Most of the time it's a middle aged guy with kids or family near by just trying to get his money back because his brother couldn't make it. If you can't find one go to the professional scalpers who will be charging higher. If it's raining heavily the price will come down. Hunt for the bargains around 12 from the stuck guy, wait until after 12:30 to go to the pro scalpers.

The Jets-Rams game will be broadcast on WHAM 1180 from Rochester. With a good radio, you can get it in at the Ralph. Does anyone know if the game will be on a Buffalo radio station?

Why don't you tell us.

Did Something Happen at Empire Sports
Albany,n.y. replied to BuffaloBorn1960's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Time Warner cut off Empire yesterday, but today I was able to pull in Empire's sound. Nothing Bills' related is really left besides Eric Moulds Show & Empire Sports Report so I guess I'm not really missing much if I can still hear them. I hope that if they have draft day coverage that I can catch the stream. Eric Moulds Show is on right now. -
I want to re-sign Jonas for O-line continuity. Pace & Jones are too expensive.

What do you like most about Mike Mularkey?
Albany,n.y. replied to OnTheRocks's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I like his take no prisoners approach to a game. If he has a chance to put the game away, he goes for it. We don't sit on a small lead, he tries to take the game over when we can, instead of having the game come to him he goes after the game. In the future, if he has a situation like the Patriots successfully did against the Rams in SB XXXVI, I don't expect to see him playing for overtime when he can win it in regulation. He is not afraid of being 2nd guessed like 3/4 of the NFL coaches are. Buddy Ryan said it years ago when named coach of Arizona, but I think it's more applicable to Mularchy : You've got a winner in town -
McGahee interview soon on HBO Inside NFL
Albany,n.y. replied to Nirvjam's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Those bastages all picked the Jets & Denver to win and said we will win but not make the playoffs. I can't wait until Sunday when the Rams are winning & they're putting the score up on the scoreboard every 10 minutes. With us winning on the field and the Jets losing on the scoreboard, the Ralph will be rocking like it was during those 3 AFC championship games in the 90s.
