I love me some Musburger. Here's for me the most Musburger moment in broadcasting history, and no it's not McCarron's girlfriend.

I looked it up. Players couldn't grab the face mask since 1964. And stomping on someone has been a penalty since the leather helmet days. But they used to show penalties on highlight reels all the time back then. I mean, how many hockey fights VHS tapes did the NHL release?

People don't like the Coleman pick, so they are looking for another toy. -

To be fair, the Bills were losing so much back then that they ruined my love for the game too. -
Rd 2, Pick 33: WR Keon Coleman, Florida State

I think that the majority of the negativity is from the posters on this board. We spent A LOT of time "scouting" WRs since the season ended. We came to a consensus that if Odunze and Thomas Jr. were not possibilities, then it had to be Mitchell. So, when the Bills went in another direction we had all decided that this was a mistake weeks before the draft. The reaction is predictable. The last time we "scouted" this hard was in 2018; the reaction was even stronger. -
Why is anyone surprised by this? It’s status quo. And they can pay him because top TEs make a fraction of top WRs. It’s a bit of a loophole.

Ravens just this last year. No one had over 900 yards receiving and only Flowers had over 600. They won 13 games. It was Lamar that strikes the fear. https://www.espn.com/nfl/team/stats/_/name/bal/baltimore-ravens

Because they have that GPS data now, so they don't have to depend on 40 times and the eye test. -
Kincaid was the best pass catcher on the board when the Bills drafted last year. I think the distinction between playmaking positions is breaking down in the NFL. I know you hate basketball, but this happened in that sport about a decade ago. Now you have the PG, the C, and a bunch of 6-8 to 6-10 swingmen that can all shoot. Everyone can score from everywhere. I think this is how Joe Brady wants to play. I hope he knows what he’s doing.

If that’s what he believes in, then he’s gone against his own beliefs in the last two drafts.

I don’t even agree with myself anymore here. He meant a transition in leadership. I just had a hot take. But Beane sometimes speaks before he thinks.

It’s because people spend too much time “scouting” before the draft and, unlike actual NFL GMs, get attached to specific players. As I noted, Coleman was on the list of guys that we discussed back when this process started. We just chose differently in our collective mocks so it feels like a mistake. It’s really just online groupthink. But my favorite are the guys who claim that Josh Allen is about to demand a trade because we don’t give him enough weapons. He, for two years in a row, has had input into the selection of two pass catchers that were choosen with the Bills first pick. If it doesn’t work out it’s at least partially his fault. Also, good on ya for staying aboard after that early 90’s bandwagon crashed into a brick wall.

Sit back and think about how few players are still in this team compared with the roster that broke out in 2020. Josh, Dawkins and Knox on offence. Milano, Oliver and Teton Johnson on D. That’s massive turnover. But if you look at the Chiefs, it’s even more drastic. It’s kind of Mahomes, Kelce and Clark and a bunch of moving pieces. You have to always be in transition and the Bills mistake was not taking this step a year ago. That being said, Id love to have Diggs back but I know I’m on an island with that opinion.
-
The problem is that if Josh appears to take a step back due to no Diggs, then we become the freezing small-market Bills and FAs won’t want to come play with a declining Josh Allen. The nRams can rebuild without taking a reputation hit. The Bills cannot.

The Bills spent their first pick in the draft on a WR and let Josh Allen have a say in the choice. How would that make him frustrated? I think he got tired of the drops and wanted a guy with good hands. I would have taken Mitchell, but then again I don’t have to coach or play with the guy. This has been a process for me. Before the season ended, I wanted Coleman or Leggett because I wanted a big guy who catches almost the balls thrown his way. Then I started listening to you people, and I became a big Franklin guy. I was the all hyped for Worthy after the combine, but then I reconsidered. He almost certainly worked with track coaches for a month to get that time. It’s all in the start. I think it’s very telling that he declined doing any other drills. That’s because he didn’t train for them. When you watch him play, he’s fast but not Tyreek fast and he drops balls. So then, I was and still am a Ladd guy. But I guess I can’t complain because if you had told me back in January that the Bills would have drafted Coleman I would have been very happy. So I choose to be hopeful. At the very least he should go a long way in solving the red zone problems.

They draft for traits all the time, but speed is never one of them. -

Why does Beane refuse to add speed to the lineup? Why????? -

Carter had a good week at the Senior Bowl, as did Bishop. The Bills put a lot of stock in that historically.
