It's 8.39 million cap hit less than the Bills would have had if he played. So we save on the cap.

Browns ink Myles Garrett to an Extension
Low Positive replied to EmotionallyUnstable's topic in The Stadium Wall
Browns had to overpay. Just like with the Raiders, spending absurd amounts of money on a pass rusher when the team has no QB is not the way to build a winner. Remember when the Bills had Mario Williams and a DL with a cool nickname (The Cold Front)? That led to a 6-10 and 9-7 records and no playoffs. But fans got to buy Mario Williams jerseys, so all was good. -
DK Metcalf requests trade to a contender

You have to match the game logs to weather history on Weather Underground. On 11/30/2020 in Philadelphia he had a big day. But I looked up the weather and it was unseasonably warm that day with temps in the 60's. Other than that, his 100+-yard receiving days came in the early part of the season and in domes. His performance in late-season home games drops off too once it gets cold in Seattle. There is a single outlier; 12/24/2022 in KC, where he had 80 yards in a loss to the chiefs and it was bitter cold that day. But that is really an exception to the rule. -
And yet they field a team and sign FAs every year. Also, if the cap is "real," explain the Eagles. They have a top-five paid QB, two top WR contracts, and a highly-paid OL and DL. My understanding is that the cap should prevent this and force them to get rid of Devonta Smith. And yet they just signed him to a HUGE extension last offseason. We know how they do it, but they prove that if you have an owner with enough cash the cap is really just accounting.

DK Metcalf requests trade to a contender
Low Positive replied to HappyDays's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's not demanding warm weather or a dome due to personal preference. He says he has asthma and thus a hard time playing in the cold. If you look at his game logs, he does seem to perform worse in cold-weather games. I'm sure there are some outliers, but it does seem to be a trend. -
They can designate a cut as a post 6/1 cut, but cut him now so that he can try to find another team. I'm sure that's what they did.

Players could convince themselves that the Chargers are contenders. They could also convince themselves that the Dolphins or Texans are one player away from contention. -
Greg Rousseau Extended (4 years / 80M / 54M Guaranteed)

In the top 100 salaries in the NHL, only 6 are goalies. And one of them doesn't even play anymore (Carey Price). -
Who wouldn't. The losing is a drag, and every player wants to believe that they're not the problem.

That was the past. Goaltenders are the RBs of the NHL. Very important but undervalued. Also, Goalies take FOREVER to develop. -

The level of misunderstanding of the NFL salary cap by posters with thousands of posts on this board is surprising. -

1) He had that one year with Lamar. 2) He has a cool nickname. -

I've thought a lot about this. I came to the conclusion that it's much harder to build a hockey team than an NFL team. In hockey, there is nothing as golden as hitting on a QB. It's more like a baseball team, only as good as it's middle relief. Also, having to draft prospects at 18 and letting them develop for years in the Juniors and Minors elongates the process and produces a lot of draft misses. Players in the NHL also have extensive no-trade clauses that keep bad teams bad. Not that these are excuses, but they do explain how Pegula can be a good NFL owner and a really bad NHL owner. -
I doubt that a team with the reigning MVP and is fresh off a 3-point loss in the championship game is going to have 8 1:00pm Sunday games.

That’s it. I’m done with this team!!!!!

The cap rises every year, but fans' contact expectations stay the same. -

I don't care how much he makes. These guys put their health at risk for our entertainment, so they should make as much money as they can. What I do care about is the cap hit in 2025. Until I see that, I have no opinion. -
Geno Smith to Las Vegas for a 3rd Round Pick

Packers fans have sold their soul to get franchise QB after franchise QB. How they pay for that is having to watch their former QB beat them in purple. It simply has to be. -
You would have to be unhinged to obtain any pleasure from playing OL.
