Philosophical Question
keepthefaith replied to Deranged Rhino's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Do we come back only as humans or could we be dogs, birds or sharks too? -
Just in case you haven't seen this. Here is an e-mail sent to Clarence Page of the Chicago Tribune after an article he published concerning a name change for the Washington Redskins. Dear Mr. Page: I agree with our Native American population. I am highly insulted by the racially charged name of the Washington Redskins. One might argue that to name a professional football team after Native Americans would exalt them as fine warriors, but nay, nay. We must be careful not to offend, and in the spirit of political correctness and courtesy, we must move forward. Let's ditch the Kansas City Chiefs, the Atlanta Braves and the Cleveland Indians. If your shorts are in a wad because of the reference the name Redskins makes to skin color, then we need to get rid of the Cleveland Browns. The Carolina Panthers obviously were named to keep the memory of militant Blacks from the 60's alive. Gone. It's offensive to us white folk. The New York Yankees offend the Southern population. Do you see a team named for the Confederacy? No! There is no room for any reference to that tragic war that cost this country so many young men's lives. I am also offended by the blatant references to the Catholic religion among our sports team names. Totally inappropriate to have the New Orleans Saints, the Los Angeles Angels or the San Diego Padres. Then there are the team names that glorify criminals who raped and pillaged. We are talking about the horrible Oakland Raiders, the Minnesota Vikings, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Pittsburgh Pirates! Now, let us address those teams that clearly send the wrong message to our children. The San Diego Chargers promote irresponsible fighting or even spending habits. Wrong message to our children. The New York Giants and the San Francisco Giants promote obesity, a growing childhood epidemic. Wrong message to our children. The Cincinnati Reds promote downers/barbiturates. Wrong message to our children. The Milwaukee Brewers. Well that goes without saying. Wrong message to our children. So, there you go. We need to support any legislation that comes out to rectify this travesty, because the government will likely become involved with this issue, as they should. Just the kind of thing the do-nothing Congress loves.. As a die hard Oregon State fan, my wife and I, with all of this in mind, suggest it might also make some sense to change the name of the Oregon State women's athletic teams to something other than "the Beavers (especially when they play Southern California . Do we really want the Trojans sticking it to the Beavers???) I always love your articles and I generally agree with them. As for the Redskins name I would suggest they change the name to the “Foreskins” to better represent their community, paying tribute to the dick heads in Congress.

Iran Nuclear Deal Reached
keepthefaith replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Given all the trouble in that part of the world, a large explosion which enlarges the Mediterranean sea and turns Africa into a large Island might not be a horrible thing. On the other hand, it might be better for the rest of us if all of those inhabitants stayed put. -

Iran Nuclear Deal Reached
keepthefaith replied to Trump_is_Mentally_fit's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Obama feels it isn't fair that Israel can have nuclear weapon capability and not Iran. Fairness is his goal. He's simply helping to level the playing field and delaying Iran from getting the bomb while he and possibly Hillary are in office. -
What is it that banks and investment firms are doing wrong that is harming so many Americans or putting our economy at risk?

A good one could get a lot done and it starts with repairing the relationship with Congress. It's been so long, we've forgotten what good leadership in the White house looks like. Shyt, if those of us that actually pay health insurance premiums paid even more we could afford to cover even more people for free!!!!!

Which would give me a reach advantage. Keep your eyes on the Donald, he's going to shape the race substantially for both parties including exposing Hillary to an even greater extent than she has been already and by appealing to a lot of Democrat and independent voters (including union folks) with his jobs mantra.

Because paying high taxes is the greatest of all patriotic acts so says the left.

Probably more like Canada saying the deal sucks and we don't want it.

Not surprising. Her team has probably surveyed many people and determined that many votes can be bought for about $500 and paid for through higher taxes on the rich or deficit spending. Brilliant!

He should stand trial quickly, death sentence if guilty and done away with very shortly thereafter.

For his age his hair is damn good. Just needs a trim. -
She'll have a big "D" next to her name on the ballot. That's enough for nearly half the population.

Teens Fleeing Religion at Record Pace
keepthefaith replied to Rob's House's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
That right there is one of the best arguments for having religion in your life beyond just spirituality. The lessons and the community activities that many churches offer are rock solid and make us better people. -
and who shall forgive US debt when the **** hits the fan here and what impact will that have on those creditors? Scary.

A Sonic restaurant nearby added an inside dining area this past winter. They were exclusively drive-up before that. There are now indoor tables in which to sit and eat and ordering inside is done on a kiosk. Sonic is doing well as a company, better than most fast food operations. They ain't waitin' for a $15 minimum wage, but for sure a $15 minimum wage will result in kiosks in many places. Good for the educated and skilled workers that develop and support that technology. Bad for those the libs want to help, but that won't stop libs from pushing it because they can collect votes for a while until those that got suckered are hurt by the very ideas sold to them. That's OK, because liberal politicians will just find another doomed cause to suck in the same crowd.
