The thought of getting Mexico to pay for the wall is pretty far out on a limb, but there are some big bargaining chips if such a negotiation were ever to happen. We could ban or substantially discourage travel and tourism to Mexico, We could make big trade adjustments and could probably greatly reduce money being sent there. That would probably be more than enough to get them to the table. On the other hand, their corrupt leadership might not give a rats ass if we stifle portions of their economy.

Agree the military can be looked at for waste but probably not the first place we should look to reduce cost. As for the pie chart, I like the one that shows all US spending by category with a close eye on the slice of the pie consumed for interest on the national debt. I'd say Bernie gets about .75 votes in the general for each that Hillary loses. Many women will vote for Hillary simply because she's a women. If they decide she's not honest enough, then some of them won't vote for the old fart Bernie. Many might vote for Trump now that he's known to be great in bed.

Doesn't matter. The Republican candidate is not winning the Hispanic vote. Not with Trump's position or with Bush's. No Republican is going to run on amnesty or extra benefits for low income folks so the majority of Hispanics who primarily want those benefits will vote for the Dem because the Dem will offer that. Historically speaking Republicans have never won the Hispanic vote even after Reagan signed Amnesty which says to me that free stuff even Trumps citizenship. The real question is how many Non-hispanic votes will a Republican pick up in key states if they run with the promise to finally deal with border security and all of the illegal folks here one way or the other? As long as Hispanic illegals continue to kill white or black people once a month or so and that continues to be reported, I think that number of votes will be large.

I think that if you look under the covers in many states you will find that illegal immigrants (particulalry those that have American born children) are drawing from these benefits.

Granting citizenship to children born here to illegal immigrants is a loophole that has been vastly exploited and it should be closed. Politically that may be impossible to achieve which makes border security that much more important.
