So is your conclusion that the Bush tax cuts caused the economic decline in 2008?
-
You realize that the Bush tax cuts increased the take home paychecks or every taxpaying American that earned W-2 income, correct? You also realize that the economy grew at this time and the tax receipts to the Federal government went up. How did that not help people and the economy?

That is the heart of it right there.

Doesn't matter to the left. Vast majority of left voters don't know what GDP is and if they do they don't care about growth rates. That's too much big picture thinking. Left politicians are making a great living with a patchwork quilt constituency made up of small minded grievance voters willing to sell their vote for a small personal benefit or the promise of making someone else pay or some other faux issue. Mushroom supporters. Keep them in the dark and throw **** on them.

Trump vs Clinton: Pre Convention matchup
keepthefaith replied to Dorkington's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It's pretty hard to call Hillary a decent person given her several decade trail of low integrity and lack of any meaningful accomplishments other than marrying the eventual President Bill. She's everything not to like in a politician all rolled into one. However, I do agree that her chances of winning are pretty good. -
Trump vs Clinton: Pre Convention matchup

Trump, lesser of two evils and he will at least be guided somewhat by a party which is at least a bit closer philosophically to where we need to go as a country. -

It'll be a moat on the northern border with the keystone pipeline running through a portion of it and Iran is paying for that and the Chinese will run the currency exchange between the U.S. and Canada.

Voters are the problem. We deserve the government we elect and the government that we don't scrutinize.

This year's campaign, Obama's nearly 8 years and what the Democrat party now stands for are really depressing. What is happening to our country? A slow and steady decline in integrity, morality, pride, personal responsibility and patriotism. It's sad to watch.

Didn't view the clip but I'll guess that the young man doesn't mention the economic impact of what Trump or others like him have done or the charitable contributions made by Trump and similar people?
-
Yeah, nearly 2 to 1 dems over repub votes. No Republican has any chance of winning NY unless Hillary threatens to move the Giants and Yankees to Boston.

That's entertaining, but no DC Tom must stay. A compromise might be to have a thread to be exclusively used by Tom and Gator. That might reduce some of the "traffic" on the other threads. Maybe the thread should be titled "Smart and Dumber".

Yeah, that's what he's saying. Hillary might find it in her heart if elected to appoint such judges but of course not until she has reaped the benefits and no longer needs them.

The IRS Is Encouraging Stolen SS Numbers
keepthefaith replied to 3rdnlng's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
This is just another outrageous use by the Obama administration of a federal agency to advance his perverse and un-American agenda. -
What is happening in another country is of zero relevance here. Zero. Nobody who has thought about a $15 per hour minimum wage for this country can possibly conclude that jobs won't be lost. Yes more people will make $15 per hour, but less will be employed because any business that relies on cheap labor that experiences a shift in wage cost will respond by making changes designed to reduce the impact of that cost increase. Cut people, cut hours, or find more efficient ways to perform the tasks done by low cost workers. Worst case, the companies close or eliminate lines of business that become less profitable. All leads to less employment and the most vulnerable (the lowest performers) get hurt the most because the weakest employees are the first to go.

It's ridiculous that public servants can strike and refuse to serve the taxpayers that pay them. In the case of Chicago, the teachers don't care that the city and state are in terrible fiscal condition or that their last strike and ultimate pay raise the resulted in closing 54 schools in 2013 and loss of teacher jobs. Public schools are being replaced in Chicago by private charter schools. There are now 145 charter schools in Chicago and most are non-union.

Yes, which has dems crying in their beer and wanting more tax revenue. Gotta fund those shovel ready jobs. http://thehill.com/policy/transportation/258715-dem-rep-moves-to-increase-gas-tax-by-15-cents

His greatest accomplishment was keeping our country from going into a depression in 2009. This low unemployment number is just icing on the cake. Had we elected McCain, the U.S. economy would still have not recovered.

Gosh just off the top of my head As long as your bashing liberalism - what has "conservatism" brought us since the Reagan revolution? Cut taxes for high earners (Bush and Reagan cuts reduced taxes on all income brackets) Lowered union power (yes and many feel not enough) NAFTA (signed by Clinton, bipartisan approval) Fought SSM (I agree that repubs should approve this) Unfunded wars in the ME (funded the same we we funded the stimulus bill and many other trillions in spending, but iraq II was wrong) Voter ID laws (yes we need voter ID laws to make sure the right of voters is being correctly carried out) Gun rights (yup, a constitutional right) Citizens United (both parties abuse campaign funds) Fought environmental conservatism (?) Lower regulation for the financial industry (Did you miss the warnings given to dems by repubs in the house regarding fannie/freddie/mortgage securities risk?)

Maybe I wasn't serious. I only voted no to keep this close, to keep it interesting, to keep the underdog of underdogs alive.
-
I prefer a free-for-all. Anything that anyone wants to post is fine by me and I still hold out the slightest glimmer of hope that Gator and his allies will someday realize that liberalism doesn't produce good results.

No but it's pet phrase used in the African American community.

No backlash. That's a term African American's themselves use.
