Is Tyrod the most Athletic QB ever?
keepthefaith replied to Over 29 years of fanhood's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Steve Young and Elway deserve to be in the conversation. -
I think all would agree that Obama is a great campaigner, but having somewhere near 20% of primary voters (portion of registered democrats that are AA's) locked up due to their loyalty to someone of their same race creates a high bar for any competing candidate (Hillary in '08).
-
Do you mean the kind of gerrymandering that resulted in Illinois republicans losing I believe 5 of 18 US house seats in the state in 2012 and 2014 after governor Quinn had the districts redrawn in an obvious outrageous partisan way?
-
That should rile up a few people.
-
Obama campaigns very well. Hillary not so much and she had some high negatives even in 2008. Of course in the democrat primary it doesn't hurt to have a significant minority population voting almost exclusively for you. That would be a lot for even the Clinton machine to overcome.
-
In part yes. I think Barack had lucky timing and played hardball Chicago style politics as well. He ran unopposed in his party state senate primary and it's hard to lose as a Democrat in Illinois elections. For US senator his Republican challenger withdrew late in the race and he was opposed by Alan Keyes, a republican with no chance. Obama stirred up dirty laundry on the opponents in both of these elections and basically eliminated the competition. In 2008, I think any Democrat that could put a sentence together with money backing and the MSM in their corner would have defeated McCain. Obama, Hillary, Biden and a host of others would have won 2008 IMO. 2012 surprised me as 4 years in Obama was stinking and Romney was a very good candidate as far as I'm concerned but we all know what happened there.

I hope you're right. The more light on this, the better.

Nothing run by the federal government runs well. Nothing. Who do you complain to if you have a service problem? It would be cheaper for who? Today, even with the restrictions of the ACA I can fire my broker, fire my carrier, fire of choose different doctors, select from a variety of plans what I feel is best for me and my family. With postal service style coverage, I'm gonna get crap for service, choice and cost.

Her health sucks. More on that coming.

Affordable Care Act - is it making people healthier?
keepthefaith replied to Juror#8's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
A very good argument could be made that life under the ACA is more dysfunctional than before with the possible exception of allowing children on parents plans longer and pre-existing condition. The negatives far outweigh the few positives IMO. Split the country in two. One country for those that believe in personal responsibility, lower taxation and limited government and another country that prefers the government to provide a wide range of services through taxation anf lots of government oversight. That should make everyone happy. -

You would be one of the rare few that has seen a decrease but again you are not working in private sector. -

Employers should be free to compensate employees as they wish including stipends or increases to help cover health insurance. I'm quite sure that many employers would do so if they no longer provided coverage. Once people have to use and shop for health insurance like other forms of insurance, they will act and shop more responsibly and the market will offer new and more flexible plans if the providers aren't restricted by government. -

Pass a law making it illegal for employers to provide health insurance as a benefit. Get rid of government mandated coverage levels. Get rid of state line restrictions. Allow all medical expenses and medical insurance premiums to be tax deductible. Once people become independent buyers and users of health insurance, they will choose and use coverage more wisely and the market for both insurance and care will evolve to more affordable options. -
Exactly correct. Comey basically told us all that he wouldn't dare recommend an indictment or that he was instructed not to. The entire investigation was a sham with a pre-determined outcome and any Clinton Foundation investigation is for sure being done for the same purpose - that is to clear the Clintons before November.

There are more than 8,000,000 illegal immigrants working in this country. That's hurting employment for many American workers.
-
So illegal labor that takes jobs below market rates doesn't displace American workers or supress wages? I have a family member in the SW U.S. who shut down his painting business because he couldn't win jobs bidding at $15-$20 hr. He was constantly undercut by illegal immigrant labor. The construction industry in non-union precincts is full of stories like this.

That is a big insult to other vaginas

They're his projects. The Chicago building is mostly condos that were sold so of course he no longer owns those. He still operates the hotel and restaurant from what I've read. Getting away from my point which is his business does well because it builds good things and provides good quality and good service too. He's a success. Obnoxious at times yes. Great as a politician, no. Great as a President, who knows but usually presidents live up or down to their unbiased expectations. In the case of Bush and Obama we really got what we should have expected. No reason to have high expectations for Hillary or Donald, especially her. She's about as bad as politicians get for all the reasons we don't like them.

I've been in the Chicago hotel and condo building which I think is his only property in Chicago. Had dinner in the Trump hotel near central park in NY. Both are owned and operated by his organization as far as I know. In Chicago the giant T R U M P letters on the building drive the libs nuts. That in itself is a feature.
-
I'm not here to defend Trump but is he not finishing the DC post office rehab? Pretty big project in a neighborhood where you would think he would be shut out as you said. It's easy to armchair QB what he coulda and shoulda done but he has certainly built a nice business that employs a lot of people and yes he's done some deals that haven't turnout out well. If we look close at almost any successful organization we will find failures. Many have tried and failed in every industry. He's still experiencing success in business over 4 decades. It's just that most would have preferred he didn't enter politics. Branding is critical in any retail business and brands are mostly developed due to customer experience. I've been in one of his NY properties and his Chicago property. Very nice establishments with great service. You come away impressed.
-
He's done very well in his businesses but there is certainly room above him.
-
Yes, for example Marshawn could have done it in Buffalo.
-
He's been pretty successful. If it were so easy everyone would do it, right? Yes he's a media whore and a loose canon but he's taken risks and most have paid off. Let's not pretend that his political rivals can boast of accomplishments that measure up. For all his faults he does have a track record of getting things done.
