Official Pre-Game Thread: Week 17, Bills at Patriots
Max997 replied to Dan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Why are the Bills pissed? Is it bc the game was moved back to 4 pushing back the start of their offseason? -
It's amazing how similar Ryan and Romo are
-
I personally don't think you can give a guy more then 2 years in today's NFL but most teams will give longer simply bc they don't want to admit failure

The entire Northeast is a mess today I'm in South Jersey and the weather just keeps getting worse. -
One knee equals two feet basically
-
I agree bc I think they hv cap issues as well
-
Geno just had a really nice throw on the run to Nelson I'm not a Geno basher and not making excuses for him but he really doesn't have any weapons to work with It was stupid of Atlanta to pin their hopes in Stephen Jackson who I was a big fan since college but is clearly not an every down back anymore. I've never been a big Matt Ryan fan though as he is a lot like Romo I am surprised how bad their defense is though and have to wonder how much giving up all those picks for Julio cost them bc I believe they are an old team especially on defense

Hughes has been a situational pass rusher and doesn't start so that is where the need is as he is more of a DE then OLB. I would like to see Hughes on the field more but he's played very well in the role he is in OLB is a def need but may not be the biggest need as O-line, WR, and TE are bigger needs IMO. They could also use another true DE to play on early downs as well

Recent history suggests this is going to be a WILD day
Max997 replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It's really annoying how the majority of intriguing games are all at 4. I understand the NFL wanted certain teams playing at same time but this makes the early games less interesting and too many late games to follow at once -
Couldn't disagree more with ur first point which you contradict in ur second point. You don't call timeouts up 10 at home in bad weather at the end of the half when ur getting the ball to start the second half. The only time you would even think of doing that is if u were getting good field position which they obviously were not. Why extend the first half at that point and give Miami a chance to get the ball back with enough time on the clock to put a drive together? Marrone made this mistake in the first Miami game up 10 at the end of the first half passing 3 times taking less then a minute off the clock before punting and watching Miami score with 21 seconds left turning what should have been a 10 point halftime lead into a 3 point lead. It's called situational football

Woods & Goodwin Top 2 Bills Wr's next year?
Max997 replied to Jerry Jabber's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
They still need a legit number 1 receiver and a real threat at TE. I like Chandler but they need an upgrade I initially didn't think there was a chance Stevie wouldn't be here next year but the more I think about it the more I think we've seen the last of him in a Bills uniform. He clearly isn't worth what he makes and is always injured. -
You don't kneel 3 times from ur 2 when you still hv to punt the ball away so running 3 times to try and get some room was the right call Spiller made a mistake obviously but the play call on third down was dumb as well. Why even take the chance of running towards the sideline on third down? Just run it up the middle and hope for the best then punt I do agree though that Marrones game mgt at the end of halves has been questionable on a few occasions

Texans Hire Bill O'Brien as Their Next Head Coach
Max997 replied to 26CornerBlitz's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree it would be pretty lame for him to take the job, talk a lot of players into staying and going there then leave after two years. He also has a disabled son who from what I read goes to a special school in the area that the family is happy with so although it wouldn't be completely shocking I don't see him leaving this year. This could be a ploy to get a raise -
There is no reason to play EJ and risk further injury that would impact his offseason RG3 wasn't the same player this year bc of his knee so why risk a similar situation in a meaningless game for the Bills?

Exhaustive film study: EJ's strengths and weaknesses
Max997 replied to l< j's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
EJ doesn't have pocket awareness which to me is something a QB either has or he doesn't and isn't something anyone can learn His mechanics are terrible and haven't improved at all which begs the question...what has this coaching staff been doing with him all year? You can't write a guy off after one year but I have serious doubts EJ will ever turn into a good starting QB in the NFL -
It's the right call and I expect EJ to have surgery on the knee this offseason
-
Jets beat the Pats in NY on an odd call at the end of the game that you don't see called much. Actually the type of call we expect to see the Pats get not called for. The Pats have struggled a lot this year and IMO are not really that good In saying that I see this being a typical Bills road game where they don't look good and the Pats end up smoking them. Bills had their Super Bowl last week in last home game now go on the road for last game of the year vs a Pats team playing for the top seed

Rosenthal bold face lies about EJ in an NFL.com…
Max997 replied to 1billsfan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
What exactly did he lie about? He stated his opinion which I completely agree with that EJ has not looked ready to play in the NFL Basing ur opinion of EJ or defending him on his QB rating is ridiculous. He has simply not shown anything on the field especially on the road to make me think he is anything more then average EJ hasn't shown any pocket presence at all which to me is something a QB either has or he doesn't. He struggles with accuracy, doesn't come close to completing his deep throws and somehow has a lot of trouble completing screen passes -
I thought the league was perfect with 30 teams and 3 divisions of 5 teams in each conference. I did not like it when they expanded and added teams in Houston and Cleveland 4 divisions of 4 teams in each conference is too much and ends up penalizing the good divisions since there is one less wildcard spot now with the extra division

Its dumb not changing up the snap count during a game especially when the d line is getting a good jump and ur giving up sacks

Draft day movie trailer slams Bills.
Max997 replied to GoBills19's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Well considering Dexter started in 2006 and Mr Brooks was 2007 I'd say no But at this point most things are based off of something these days. Christian Bale played a similar role in American Psycho in 2000 which was a very underrated movie Back to the draft day movie I'm sure I'll watch it bc I'm a draft geek but I'm not expecting it to be great. The Ralph looks pretty good from above though -

Tin Cup was great. For Love of the Game was another baseball movie he did that was pretty good. Open Range was really good and Mr Brooks was ok even though it was basically Dexter -

It's really annoying how easily people get offended these days The aerial shot of the Ralph is actually before he says or starts to say one team comes out looking like a Donkey not after. -
Sports radio arrogance in NE
Max997 replied to NEBuffaloBillsFan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Last weeks game was the final home game of the year and a chance to knock the Dolphins out of the playoffs so it was basically the Bills Super Bowl so it's really not that far fetched to think they will be flat this week going on the road in a meaningless game for them. The best they can do is worsen the Pats playoff seed which is a little different then having chance to knock them out
