  2. And this??? http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/7/2/851...0062/867/545256
  3. Yep, two can play this game: Why did McCain accept these two clowns endorsement???? http://www.mnblue.com/node/1316l Please, there is a lots of the crap out their. Do you want more?
  4. AD, while I agree with the stuff I left out, I am not sure about gun control on two fronts. One gun control is both a constitutional issue and a social issue. It gets into both territories. Banning guns is a social construct. That being said, from a legislative, in this case constitutional amendment necessity it is a bad idea. However, computerized background checks and a waiting period before a gun is allowed to handed over in all circumstances should be the law. In today's day and age, an aggressive attempt to keep guns out of the hands of common criminals, higher regulation gun dealers should be instituted That being said, it won't solve the issue, just put a damper on it. Kind of like the fence across the southern border. But I do think the Dems if they win the WH will attempt some form of legislation. I am tired of yahoo's walking out into the woods drinking and shooting, let alone the cattle drives they call hunting and sportsmanship. The genocide in the Sudan and Darfur has been less efficient than these so call canned hunt... slaughters. P.S. I am all for hunting, just not this B.S. I have hunted and fished much of my life and this kind of stuff should just be made criminal. The stem cell deal really bothers me and if Obama wins and they don't do something significant about it, I am going to be really disappointed. God, I sound like my mom. F'mm if they don't. My son has a neuro issue and this research may be able cure the underlying problem combined with some gene therapy. Screw the religo nuts who block this kind of research based on their narcissistic view of the bible. Wake up, it ain't God's will and they are just delaying the inevitable because of the red cool aide they are drinking. So their only accomplishment is that more folks will suffer, need more government services, and cost the tax payers money. It is the shame based society we live in, pathetic and all sides seem to practice it in one form or another. The rest I couldn't agree with you more,
  5. Crap, everyone knows that historically the market does better under Democratic Presidents and that Capital Investment does better under Republicans as part of their general economic policies. Whatever. This is not why the market is tanking. The market is tanking because despite all the efforts to stimulate it, and with new job losses being reported no one has any money spend if they do they are not going to be spending it any time soon. It has little to do with who will be the next President other than there is a realization that any President is going to be relatively powerless to influence any of this decline. When everyone decides to take a deep breath and sit still for a couple of months and slowly intelligently work their way out of this mess then and only then will we see the market turn around. Till then we are going to see this volitility and it may not happen until a new President has settled in to office and has become predictable. P.S. McCain sure isn't.
  6. I am married with kids, not sure which is a bigger drain, the wife or kids.... but yeh and the economy doesn't help.
  7. Harmless no... innocent probably. It came across as someone who is defensive and inside sees all his best laid plans slipping away. His attitude was accusatory, like how dare Obama challenge him, his judgement or his authority. It appears Obama has actually gotten under McCain's skin and he doesn't know quite how to deal with it so he resorts to the grumpy old man routine which is part of his main character.
  8. Ain't gonna happen, back to living pay check to pay check and trying to save a little for a rainy day.
  9. Adds new meaning to the term..."street money" or "walking around money" All of the sudden, cash shows up from nowhere in trash bags to pay poll workers and get out the vote!
  10. Duh, people actually like ideas of their opponents and trash the other side unless it is covered up. If you went into a Republican district in say the white part of Alabama, doing just the opposite, you would get the same thing. And, If you went in to areas with an agenda list mixed between the two candidates positions and asked which they prefer, I'll be you would come up with some interesting results. Especially, then if you went back week later and asked them the same questions with one or the other candidates support or opposition to the idea. Bet the wouldn't remember how they answered their support or opposition the previous week. This is why push polling works. It is sad, but McCain's campaign manager is right, this election is not about ideas. He just shouldn't have said it. And Obama is winning the image/vision thing whether or not you believe there is any substance behind either candidate's rhetoric.
  11. I agree, but the fee should be limited. How you cover the difference either with insurance or regulated tiered fee, I don't know, but I believe that everyone should have access.
  12. This debate is interesting, like a pursuit of happiness, what about access to health care? It was instituted in Massachusetts by former Governor Mitt Romney and though it has had some short term glitches, it seems to be working okay. It is not transferable outside of Mass and I am not sure of the overall costs, but Emergency room visits have gone way down, and if you receive a paycheck, the fee is automatically deducted for it if you employer does not provide it. There is catastrophic crop insurance required if you are going to participate in any ag subsidy. Both are bare bone coverages and the healthcare insurance seems to help out the young and old better??? Not sure how it is going right now with the econ. downturn? I am mixed because the insurance companies are the most profitable companies in the US and yet they are still a middle man. Their fees for this service have gotten outrageous, but government run services here wouldn't work either. Medicare negotiating fees for drugs and doctors services seems like a good idea, but I don't think a national system would work. I don't think employer benefits should be taxed.
  13. Which is why we need a right to health care.... more mood altering... excuse me.... stabilizing prescription drugs. Where is da big oxy boy when we need him for one of his patented McCain rocks, you suck, fu.
  14. I saw the second half of the debate. Cable was shut off in my neighborhood for a while and came on midway. Oh, well guess I didn't miss much. McCain seemed a little testy but much more aggressive and more relaxed. Overall, he did okay, but his voice is grinding in a much different way from George Bush. He tried to do the old Democrat is going to raise taxes routine, which I am not sure it went over that well. But in his closing he more directly acknowledge how things were right now economically. However, he was very unspecific in what he would do about, just what he would not do about it. Obama was very specific economically and while they took shots on each other on foreign policy, I have a hard time seeing where they really disagreed. Maybe McCain would Bomb first and then talk about it and Obama would talk first and then say FU, but it really amounts to much of the same. Interesting to watch the two styles work a room, but on substance on FP, not much difference. I do think McCain did a better job controlling the debate, but Obama wasn't a shrinking violet and handled himself well. McCain still seems to be disrespecting Obama, "this one" and his attempt at humor with trying to bring Brokaw in referring to not him as his choice for Treasury Secretary. Bottom line, not a great game changer, but for all the good McCain did being aggressive, he had enough of uncomfortable moments and small gaffe's that leave you with an uncomfortable feeling about McCain.
  15. The realignment if any is coming from the fact that the Baby Boomers are getting older and their priorities are changing. They now want to keep what money they have and retire. This economic deal is going to make it hard on them and they will need to work for a longer period of time. Probably a good thing for Social Security, but it may cause they normal political evolution of a person as they age to more conservative to change. Additionally, there is a normal pendulum swing that just needed an intervening event to get it going the other direction. That being said, the current divisions remain and won't disappear quickly as some said earlier. The election may change some of the map for the short term, however, I see a slower longer term shift to a more regulated business sector. Also, the Dems are seem to be attempting to lower taxes on the middle class. My question is the states seems to lagging behind this change and taxes, especially sales and real estate taxes have skyrocketed for small business owners and the middle class. Might we have two changes going on at once?
  16. It is all Carl Rove style scare tactics... whatever, only RW Repigs can make this whole thing sound like a conspiracy and a frantic what if... better go out do something about it. The LW does it too, I am getting tired of both when the economy is falling apart. You nuts are idiots.
  17. Interesting, Demand is going in the tank fast, pun intended. Opec is stating that it will try and defend an $80 a barrel price, but with weakness in demand increasing in the US and Europe will OPEC have that much influence. Could oil fall that much further? http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/e...es-monday_N.htm and http://www.business-standard.com/india/sto...p?autono=336384 Merrill Lynch is predicting $50 a barrel and demand is at 2001 levels the last four weeks.
  18. The serenity prayer is infinity practical in this situation for any eventuality. You do what you can (to protect yourself) and turn the rest over to god.
  19. Meth does that too you, that and viagra.
  20. Point well taken. The reason this happens this way is that it is approved by the House and Senate Agriculture Committees and works to act as an artificial crop support as well. An old urban and rural link. Not I knew there were that many people receiving benefits. In the late 90s when I paid attention to it, it was funded at $28 billion. Don't know what it is now??? Looks like it has grown to between 48 and 60 billion. See conference report: http://appropriations.senate.gov/News/2008...FTOKEN=80459575 P.S. If you ever want to know how much the government is spending on something check out the conference report on the appropriations bill for what you think it would fall under. Although, sometimes things get hidden in unrelated bills. This generally is the plain language information about spending.
  21. Oh and these folks are getting rich off the food stamp program. The monthly income for eligibility according to this table: http://www.fns.usda.gov/fsp/government/FY0...e_Standards.htm So that tells me that that many people in this country are making below these levels per month. Pretty scary. So much for the trickle down effect.
  22. Now why are you posting anything intelligent on this board... of course you are right, but of course the real idiots are supporting any one of these two candidates regardless with who wins or loses.
  23. Why are you insulting crayonz, he at least thinks about his tactics before posting... a little off kilter, but still there is obvious brain power working there. Duh man hasn't shown any of that creativity, only that he can apparently ingest quite a lot of meth before he sits down to write.
  24. Ah LOL, you are a piece of work!
