I didn't say she was unintelligent, just oblivious. Jeez you guys twist words to fit your own little full of it box. Just that under pressure it seems to walk from her mouth and mind and she comes across as a rodeo drive blond. She obviously has other skills sets that fit her abilities and intelligence better, but answering direct questions about her weakenesses in an intelligent manner isn't one of them. Welcome to the big leagues.

You guys serious, with Drudge, Rush, Michael Savage, let alone Hannity and what he did with Hillary.... Please, you guys are smoking some smack. Sure, sure you keep believing your own press conspiracy whining. Go stick you head in a toilet and wash you mouth out with soap before you repeat any more of this ludicrous drivel. :wallbash: ;)

It is a different skill set, Biden like Bush doesn't suffer from a lack of intelligence, just a severe case of hoof in mouth disease. Biden actually cares about it Bush doesn't. Palin appears oblivious... different skill set. Not that it makes that much difference. Just different... Is it okay to be different????

Deeply Concerned for Our Country

Yeh, my Dadstill grumbles about those hot headed fly boys back then. He served in the late 50s as a Navy frog man and explosives ordinance disposal. He still calls them arrogant rock heads, must have had a run-in I suppose. I am sure before the prison camp, there were some pretty good stories about McCain. They were all that way to an extent back then. State Senator (VA) Toddy Puller used to tell stories about her husband Lou and Senator Bob Kerry (NE). Recovering back at Bethesda Naval Hospital, they harassed all the nurses, shot model airplanes out the windows and when that didn't get enough attention, they put lighter fluid on them and lit them on fire before sending them skyward. P.S. Lou, the son of Chesty Puller, lost his legs in Vietnam. He wrote a Pullitzer prize winning book called Fortunate Son. After recovery as best he could from his wounds he obtained his law degree and was a Pentagon lawyer for years until his wounds and personal demons caught up with him and he took his own life. Sorry about the downer. He was an incredible guy, got to sit down with him a couple of times on his wife's first campaign. Also, his son Lou, Jr. looks just like the Marine photo of Chesty! -

Yep, a lot of ministers and priests are recorded available for purchase, bet we could find some inflammatory remarks from the ministers that McCain has attended. Sooner or later, one of them will make them, although he has been in DC for so long... who knows? -

I thought Dennis Miller started out as a comedian. Either way both are insufferable to listen to, I couldn't agree more. -

Kinda like some of the Churches that I have been to when the Priest goes off on some right wing tangent. My wife is Catholic, or some of the Ministers that I have been around when they start advocating for one political or another in the name of God and how evil the other side is. Reverand Wright is just the tip of the ice berg, but we all tolerate these folks because they are part of our community and church is where we go to worship God despite their ill conceived notions of God's will.... Get over it. On the McCain patriotism thing... in words you are probably right Republicans are great at draping the flag over themselves while giving the country the middle finger. In deed his record is mixed... How about his support for tax breaks for international oil companies some of which are based in the middle east in countries that have vowed to destroy us or how about his votes against support for domestic alternative energy incentives that would reduce our dependence on foreign oil, or how about McCain's support for an unjustified war in Iraq when the real terrorists were in Afghanistan, or how about his support for trade agreements with countries such as China that are obviously communist and take our jobs out of this country when foreign national countries get subsidized to move... Real Patriotic! -

Why if he doesn't have to. It is against human nature and except for the very wealthy because they have money to burn, that is why we have a tax system to help spread the burden out more equitably. The question is how equitable our tax system is and where the burden should be adjusted should be the discussion, not whether or not we should mandatory pay taxes. This should in include actual taxes paid v. a discussion about the euphamistic margin rate which no one pays. -

Does it factor in the added interest from the growing interest on the debt as it effects income and any assumptions about lowering spending increases or the ending of the war in Iraq? -
"Spread the wealth around"

I get that, but that is part of his problem, he is letting the McCain's folks confuse the issue and needs to be more forceful in countering it. -
Yep, go through central PA and WV in the middle of the Night and you can see all the soot being belched into the air by the night running of the coal power and industrial plants. Air down wind of these things is actually worse at night on the Atlantic Coast from NJ to Richmond, VA than during the day. I thought is was fog at first, but it is these cos dirty little secret so that they can avoid upgrading the scrubbers on their stacks.

This is only one side of the argument. There are as many problems with the private sector running things as the public sector as evidenced by the stock market crash and the over leveraged banks. I agree to much control stifles ingenuity and flexibility and allows this funding to become more about local fiefdoms and power, not enough control, oversight and regulation allows the private sector to do the same thing without producing results. The goals are wonderful, but we cannot sit idly by and expect it all to work. Americans love to believe that government should work on its own without their participation and vigilance... but read the Constitution ..."By the People". It takes all of us, but that means a lot additional attention in our already long days. -

I hear you, but the Devil is still in the details and unintended consequences by how you define what gets taxed as part of that flat tax. Also, if it is a transaction tax, even between business purchases, 20% seems excessive. The other problem is that if it is a transaction tax, subcontractors will be subject to the tax and it may be cheaper for businesses to hire in house to avoid such a tax, creating more consolidation and control of the economy by a few. The list above is all suppositions. I am not sure exactly what would happen and I don't dismiss the idea, just think all the implications should be well thought out before being proposed. As a talking point it sounds straight forward enough, in practice it is complicated. -

Oh, okay you mean the free market??? That is a farce controlled by big business... please that is why we are in this mess to begin with. Big mortgage companies got greedy and leveraged themselves too much till the house of cards came crashing down. From a government that at worst looked the other way, to government misspent giveaways to oil companies, drug companies and the health industry there is plenty of blame to go around, but please don't tell these folks should have to pay for their excesses, they created the problem to begin with. I guess you rich rw and knuckle dragger wannabees don't see how spreading the wealth helps everyone. Because 90% of this country making under $100k, i.e., the less wealthy have to spend their money on the basics like housing and consumer essentials and an occasional vacation, which goes right back in the pockets of you Richy Riches. But it creates demand, new jobs and raises GDP. Hmm, tell me why isn't that a good thing? Even McCain understands this with his housing proposal, or is better to reward Wall Street firms that made bad decisions or Joe homeowner who did? Hmm... You free market lemmings are incredible -

My first deal if I were a President would be to offer retirement buyouts for 20% of all bureaucrats and reduce its size by 20%. That still won't reduce it to President Clinton's levels, but it would save a lot without doing to much damage to services. The one problem is that in a recession it might not be the greatest idea, but at least it would not be across the board pink slips. So an across the board freeze as McCain suggests is a start. I want effective services without bloated middle men. I would suggest that all insurance companies, if they want government subsidies would have to reduce their administrative costs to 15% and reduce their premiums in a corresponding manner. -

Hmm, once again is that a transaction tax or an income flat tax? And on what level of transaction, which is where the rub is? Does it become a retail flat tax? Just some questions that come to mind. Is 20% the right number? Does it squelch productivity. Be more specific. 20% doesn't tell me much and creates as many problems as it solves.
