Joe the Plumber...
YellowLinesandArmadillos replied to Lurker's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Write off the state taxes including income. Interest right off on their home. If you work as a contractor, write off all equipment purchases and depreciate your vehicle and travel miles. Invest in a 401k and a medical savings account. There are probably a bunch more things, talk to an accountant. -

final democrat solution
YellowLinesandArmadillos replied to Da Big Man's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yep and the problem is your support of McCain will only continue that trend, though Obama won't be any different. Both of them are useless. -
Exactly, but you wouldn't know that from listening to Larry Kudlow tonight. Please, here comes the Republican PR machine stating that the economy is just fine. Which do you prefer spiritual awakenings where you admit the truth or rude awakenings where the truth admits you... you know padded walls, I love me jacket!

Whatever, just don't lie about your profession, how much you make and play by the rules. I am betting that he knew exactly what his membership in the natural law party meant. -
Oh you mean like Ayers etc.... Gotta drive up McCain's negatives and expose him as a fraud, especially as he claims that he and full of shi4#% Palin they are going to clean up Washington.... yeah right. That is what the last set of Republicans said that came in with Bush and look at where we are at now. Only they can claim the economy is getting better after a 400 point rebound following a 700 point drop.

Kinda like McCain's Panama, where is Van Halen when you need him.... Damn he sounded like a plant... figures. So this guys is either lying or is just unwilling to play by all the rules we folks have to. Sounds like Dick Cheney's idea. -
Not that it is a surprise that McCain would work to protect his own and his statements about bringing a new attitude of honesty to Washington don't pass the smell tests. The latest evidence of this is that he and his staff on Indian Affairs hid an email on Abramoff's influence in the Alabama Gov's. race in 2006 while he and they were investigating Abramoff. Kinda like the wolf guarding the hen house. This portends bad things for his so-called energy policy... tax breaks for his oil buddies and royalty give aways and kiss alternative energy options good bye. Every time McCain claims is his the clean shirt guy, more evidence of mud surfaces. Common folks, he is a Washington insider, is vehemently anti-abortion and as much a crook as the rest of them. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/02/25/m...er_n_88304.html

See if you could argue more like Ethyrnet you might sound intelligent and have some legit discussions. But noooo... all you can come out with is some stupid comment that means very little. Keep reading his posts and when you can respond likewise, then maybe people will do more than just acknowledge your presence. Till then you are still an idiot. -
Obama wants to punish your success!

When you say Constitutionally mandated to regulate what specifically do you mean, are you drawing a distinction between explicit and implicit Federal powers? Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution is what I am referring to. -

Two thoughts as someone who is doing just that right now as a photographer. I agree with your analysis, but from a Fed tax side, this whole debate doesn't affect me much at my net revenue for my first year and probably won't for the next two years, after that maybe. I get my insurance through my wife and have long-term investments. Lost my shirt by purchasing a house in 2005 and putting 20% into it. Haven't sold it, am renting it out covering my mortgage, taxes and insurance. That being said, what is killing me is the State and local taxes in both NY, Westchester and southern Connecticut. Heck, even Massachusetts is more business friendly. So I would like to see if there was some way for the Feds to influence state tax levels and business laws. Probably can't happen given States rights, but larger companies can better navigate around these problems from it being easier to navigate geographic location to avoid many of these issues. -
Joe The Plummer Is Mad As Hell!
YellowLinesandArmadillos replied to molson_golden2002's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
Yep, from the same guy who didn't know why he joined the Natural Law party and wasn't sure what all these policies meant. Not a bad guy, but I disagree with him politically. Yet I know the angle he comes at it from and have a number of good old boy friends that are like him. Not going to change his mind until his military benefits or those of his friends get cut. Not saying we shouldn't support our veterans, but what about healthcare for seniors, and support for special needs children.... You keep adding things like this up and soon you have to find a way to pay for it. Heck, we are not even paying for the war in Iraq yet, more deficit and spend Republicans attitude. McSame can't balance the deficit and lower the debt without some serious cuts and pay fores. This should be interesting should he get elected. -

Bubbles happen, but Clinton did something about it and we had a "soft landing", not so soft on the real estate deal under Bush. -

Obama wants to punish your success!
YellowLinesandArmadillos replied to UBinVA's topic in Politics, Polls, and Pundits
It happened just before the election and the investigation came to light at the tail end, but it was Repigs leading Enron that tried to screw with the Energy market to both steal money and political gain during the elections. Justice took a while to catch up with them, but the investigation started under Clinton. Repigs tried to stall it. -

I know, it is the part that is conveniently left out by the Repigs and their claim that everything has been rosy under Bush until now is a misrep of what has been going on. More it has been a slow grind down since Clinton, because Clinton understood how to stimulate the economy, go after the cheats, cut the bureaucracy without hurting oversight. I believe he called it a leaner responsive government, not it is filled with Repig hacks how sit on the rear like FEMA director, Commerce Secretary and International Trade Representative. When do you hear about any of them supporting US business interests and doing something constructive??? NAADAA -

I agree and understand what he says. I have stated in previous posts that is where Obama is making a miscalculation, but McCain has yet to accurately hone in on it with a targeted alternative. However, there is the indifference curve issue that as someone gets more of something, they are less likely to work for another of that something after a certain level of satiation and therefore their productivity for that activity will fall off: see my last post. There is a middle ground that neither side gets and ends with only half the apple as a result.
