  1. Mine, John Hall (D) votes YES. Suburb of NYC, no surprise there.
  2. Oh boy, you are in for a ride. Good luck! Now begins the separation of man from the boy... It is an incredible experience, but you have to give up sleep for a while, month or two at first and then later on being able to wake up at a moments notice as you wife ribs you to go check on the kids at 1am because one of them squeaked.
  3. So what's your point, faux news.... posted something they found on You-Tube for RW political gain to try and make Obama look silly. Yuck, Yuck.
  4. You sound like one of those guys crying about welfare cheats, they aren't getting rich by their behavior. I don't approve of it, but dude those folks in financial distress over this hardly had any money to begin with and because these home prices were being bid up irrationally by everyone else making a buck off their hard earned wages, the least you could do is provide some assistance to their desire to own their own little dump. Please, get off your high horse. Unless you love in the mid-west, and then you truly don't understand. So let me educate you. Home prices skyrocketed within about 50 miles of the coast making it impossible for many low income folks to buy a home and when they tried they got stuck with a high interest loan in a low interest market on a house that wasn't worth it, but they were told this was their nest egg. So when the housing market really crashed and their loans went up because there were things like a 3 year no-interest loan. Now I am not saying there aren't plenty of people who got in over their heads and should deal with the consequences, but it will be hard to differentiate and heck it won't hurt the economy to stabilize the housing industry...You can't eat self-righteousness, but you can get drunk off it.
  5. This begs one those... at the end of the day... it will all come out in the wash... if we just take it one "game"... at a time...
  6. Glad to hear she recovered. Hadn't followed it that closely since he Calista tied the knot. Either way he cheated on her, his former wife knew it. Calista had a huge pearl on her finger for years before this happened and everyone knew who from. P.S. She got written up in Roll Call as being handsome in a Capitol Hill sort of way. That being said, nice person, always respectful unlike her now husband.
  7. Newt's active elected political career is dead after he handed his wife divorce papers on her death bed as he was screwing around with the new Gingrich, the former Calista Bisek for years. Forget about it.
  8. Yes they vote individually, but there are surveys by each sides vote counters and they pretty much know how many votes they need... If you fib too often then you will pay a price within you caucus. Not sure about Boehner's vote counting operation, seems a little suspect or that is what he is putting forward. Delay's was considered the best of all time.
  9. Agreed, but she still should not have given them an excuse, it would have seemed more like McCain's excuse more ridiculous and she should have known better. The next poster said sarcastically and they would have voted for the bill if she kept her mouth shut. No, but enough people dislike her as to make them think the GOP has a legit excuse....NOT!, but still it plays, kind of like we did with Tom Delay even when he had something that made sense being considered.
  10. Pelosi is an idiot, but if it were that important for the good of the country the Republicans should have sucked it up and voted for the resolution. Despite the posturing, I think the real deal breaker is that Treasury Secretary Pauson doesn't have a clue how things work on the Hill and didn't grease the wheels properly. That being said Pelosi is still operating as a minority leader and has not gotten used to leading a majority and identifying how to bring folks together. The real point however is, she may not have been thrilled with this Bill herself. Think deeper than just what the press, party spin doctors and talking heads are saying. It all comes back to each members local consituents. They are resentful towards wall street, don't believe this will effect them any more than they have already been screwed and why should they bail out these multi-national banks when many have already lost a lot, never saw much out of this economic expansion, while others made billions. When they can't go to their local bank and get money, they lose their low paying job or the farmer next spring can't get a loan to plant his/her crops then you will see an outcry. But right now folks are just angry and you are not going to get a compromise on the Hill with constituents feeling that way, no matter how legitimate the crap wall street is shoveling. Been there on the trade thing with a boss who wanted to vote for it but understood the political realities and feelings of a large segment of his constituents.
  11. If you read the article it criticizes Krugman
  12. Maybe, depends on how far the Dow falls, if it goes to 7,000 like after 911 then it flips and Boehner and House Republicans catch it. But a lot of Dems voted against it. Watch out, a lot more foreclosures may happen.
  13. Yeh, brilliant Rove set up and that got the media to back off and focus back on Gore's ineptitudes. I am not sure about all of this Obama has definitely been getting better media attention since the debate, but the Republicans have brought some of it on there selves trying to portray Palin as something she isn't, but less accessible during obvious media stunts like the UN visit. And McCain's not looking at Obama and grouchy demeanor was painful to watch when he was obviously more knowledgeable than Obama on FP, except he came across as an ahole. The reverse of the Bush Gore debates. GII came across as likeable, Gore boring aggressive and a know it all and arrogant...sounded a bit like McCain. Part of the deal is the media is like a group of sharks that when they smell blood and they tend to get into a ridiculous frenzy. Similarly, if Biden makes and arrogant mistake or Palin has another major gaff, you will see it again. However, if either keeps a low profile and low tenor during the debates despite gaffs they should win. Not sure it matters in the Presidential, but if Palin can tone down the pit bull and relax a little, emphasizing her strengths and leadership abilities while acknowledging she doesn't have Biden's experience while somehow baiting him into some arrogant statement, it could turn this election back around again. But I think the Rs are in defense mode and battling, not cool, not relaxed and not the way to win an election.
  14. It is an interesting argument on both sides. I think from an economies of scale kind of thing there should be a tiered tax scheme similar to income for small businesses. As businesses get going, often up front taxes... mostly state and local taxes are onerous. I think McCain's idea of taxing group health care benefits is stupid and is a defacto increase in taxes on businesses and individuals. Obama's closing of tax loopholes should also accompany and reduction in the rates. Politically it would be a great thing and would still end up as an increase in revenue, but he could claim simplification and the Washington double speak of cutting rates. But alas, each side is caught up in their own dogma. Larger corporations that have a history of shipping or ship jobs overseas should pay a tax penalty. Another Populist flag waving deal for one of these politicians. Obama and McCain have both paid some lip service to this idea, but have been very shallow in specifics. Probably because they could run afoul of trade treaties and agreements.
  15. Noice, and the Redskins beat them today... Appropriate
  16. Ah, anyone who hasn't made up thir mind yet isn't going to learn much more from these debates unless they just haven't been paying attention. The deal is, as amazing as it sounds, a lot of folks won't pay much attention, not until the last week. Once again, it is amazing the ability of the American public to ignore its politicians completely. That is probably a good thing in many respects.
  17. Thanks, another one like the Big Man on the opposite end... the opposite end of what?, I am not sure, but definitely one end of which the Big Man is on the other end of....
  18. P.S. Serotonin is a substance used by the central nervous system to transmit messages sent by the brain. A lack of which can make one depressed. You at the very least are missing some since having some would give you the ability to do a simple online search giving you the correct definition transmitting it from your brain to your fingers to keep from them typing your stupidity. Here is a hint, go eat a shroom and if you are lucky you will get some and type more intelligently.
  19. Wrong You are thinking of melanin, that is a substance that makes one's skin pigment darker. Melanoma is a cancer. Get it straight! 20. I may be wrong, but I think you are off target??? He was referring to McCain and cancer, not Obama's skin pigment. Take a deep breath and aim that thing before you fire. P.S. I think it was sarcastic and that is the way I understood it.
  21. Can't argue that point... Wonder how many women think McCain looks like their daddy or Obama looks cute and that is how they will decide who to vote for.
  22. Drudge is a political hack and makes Oxy boy look bi-partisan. In fact Oxy boy gets most of his material from Drudge and then it comes out in Repig talking points. We used to track it to know which way the Repigs @#$# were going to fly that day.
